It's really great seeing Gokusen coming back with another season because of its successfulness.. it really was. But seeing the same storyline again for the 3rd time really bored me. Also, I didn't feel the closeness between Yankumi and the 3-D class as in season 1. I just wished there was a plot twist or a new storyline.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Yankumi's strong personality and physical strengths.. but I'm tired of seeing her students getting beat up and has to need her help every single episode. I wish that the writers made up something a bit new... like her students try to not get into fights more often or fight back for themselves.
If ONLY I liked the characters here a bit better, I would've given this a 7. But I just didn't really any of the students. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Miura Haruma, but I seriously dislike his character here. I love Jun's and Kame's characters in seasons 1 and 2 the best. They care about their friends the MOST, and actually have a lot of times that they were calm... unlike many others.
Overall, if you're a fan of this series like I am, you should continue finishing it off... but it might get a bit boring at times. I definitely enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 better ;)

The good thing is Yankumi is pretty as ever like she never ages; and I think she lost a few pounds. ;-) Her moves also improved.
I love the OST and I'm 100% sure you will love it, too. So if you wanna download it, look for Niji by Aqua Timez (Gokusen 3 OST).
Overall Rating: 7/10

[WARNING: the rating and review I give have the possibility to be subjective due to my preference for the genres, scenes or casts]Another series of Gokusen, the same theme of story, but less ikemen for me (^o^) Well, no matter how many ikemen in it, this series REALLY WORTH IT to be watched and rewatched (^o^)
Actually, it’s not totally the same with two previous series. In this series, the males lead divided into two groups which clash one with another (at first), while in the others, they are one delinquent male group right from the start. Those difference alone makes a fresh start, because I imagine it would be so boring if we already know the plot from the very start.

This series is the third installment of my favorite teacher drama and Nakama Yukie never fails to make me smile from ear to ear. Hearing her wise words or phrases inspires me.The story is new to me because this time, they had two people competing for “who will be the king or ruler of the school” title. Seeing their clashing personalities and how it’ll develop into a bond is something to look forward to!
Waki Tomohiro, that classic chubby blonde hair guy also comes back to this series too! I love his cute antics and he’s now a father on this series – it somehow made me feel old as if I’ve been watching him ever since. Lol.
Final thoughts:
Nakama Yukie never fails to make me smile from ear to ear. Hearing her wise words or phrases inspires me. (copy paste from my tumblr review, I know. XD)

This is the closure I needed
S3 for me was the perfect 'end' to the Gokusen series. It seems that Yankumi's way of teaching has finally been accepted , and she manages to not get fired for once in her life time, and surprisingly her yakuza background never came to light either.Sawatari really deserves some applause for his character development, and Kuma is literally the perfect role model for Yankumi's current students.
What shocked me the most, is that things really did escalate more than they did in s1 and s2, and I love the freshness it brings. Mind you, I do sometimes skip over Yankumi's speeches as she usually utters the same words pretty much everytime, but I gotta admit that her fighting skills seems to be much better since s1.

Was this review helpful to you?
