Seoul (2002)

Detective Hayase Yutaro has been sent to Seoul to bring a convict from Japan. On his way back to the airport, he gets involved in a robbery and has to kill a man in order to survive. Hayase is forced to extend his stay to help identify the escaped car driver. As a detective, he cannot hold back and finds himself getting more and more interested in the robbery cases which happened in Seoul in the last few months. He inserts himself into the investigation of the hard-nosed Korean cop, Lt. Kim, an unwavering protocol follower who teaches him the finer points of Korean etiquette along the way, most often at the receiving end of a punch in the face. Lt. Kim himself is saddled with obstructive KCIA guys who regularly overrule his authority. When terrorists kidnap Japan's Foreign Minister to disrupt the upcoming Asian Summit, Hayase and Lt.
