Esports dramas on the rise - GYH is not too bad

LIKE

It is very genuine and like your day-to-day life. No game tactic is unbeatable and most of the time you need to play according to the flows "live".

DISLIKE

Nothing much.

MUSIC

Nice OSTs but none of them to my liking so a seven

REWATCH VALUE

Five - doesn't matter if I re-watch or not

If you enjoy watching e-sports series, watch this!

I love love Qiu Ying's character, as she has the character growth in the entire series. At first, just like what other reviews said here, you'll find her annoying, but then, she redeemed her self and grew into a beautiful swan. She worked hard for her dreams to be achieved, she didn't allow her self be a burden to other people and she is sooo pretty. I find a lot of heart warming scenes here, made me cry with them as it touched my heart deeply. Especially when Bro. Sun returned to the gaming world. I also love Ji Xiang Kong's character, his passion and never giving up attitude, but I find him frustrating with the love triangle situation. At times, he is undecided and made Qiu Ying hurt.

I love Yiyi, Qiu Ying's bestfriend, she is a real friend, she'll support you all through out, but then, scold you if needed. Defend and protect you in her own way. Really a blessing to have a friend like her.

I also love Pei Xi's character, such a fan boy! Also, he developed into a good friend. Also, I enjoy the friendship involved and developed in the series.

I am quite upset with the villains but what really upsets me is Mia's character! Jeez!!! I really hate her guts, she doesn't know when to give up, I mean truly give up. She gave her "blessing" easily but then she didn't really mean it. Anyway, I enjoyed watching it, I just wish, there's more time for our main couple to spend time together.

Originally going into this, I was watching it for Yibo and didn't have too much expectations but I must say I really enjoyed this drama, more than I thought I would!! I am not one to really dive into dramas dealing with computer or video games but this storyline was much more than just e-sports & computer games and I loveddd every second of the show. I loved how this drama didn't just focus on e-sports or romance but that it balanced the two to showcase a more important theme that we can all relate to in our lives, and thats basically following our dreams and passion while overcoming many obstacles to achieve it. I thought the story did a great job in conveying all these different aspects like friendship, romance, jealousy, hardships, and gaming while doing so!!

The romance between the two leads were so adorable!!! I felt like I was back in high school all over again watching all this cute fluffy stuff and getting butterfly feelings! I loved how naturally paced their relationship was, they weren't on the best terms in the beginning, but when they started to understand each other and their motives, they became friends and encouraged each other when they were both at probably their lowest times in their life. And I think that aspect of having each other to lean on during those times solidified their relationship!! Unlike many other dramas where the girls cling and hang on to the guy where its seen as annoying or desperate, I felt the female lead was pretty independent and I liked her! She worked hard for what she wanted and always tried to stay optimistic but also had a vulnerable side when it came to her love which is understandable.

The character development in some of these characters were refreshing to watch, especially Pei Xi and Luo Tian…in the beginning I didn't like them (and I think that was the point…they weren't really favorable characters…and I originally didn't think they'd have that big of a part in the series than they did) but they really gave the series more depth and became some of my favorite characters by the end of the drama. I do have to say….theres a part of me that really feels bad for Luo Tian tho….I don't really wanna give anything away but if you watch(ed) the drama you'll know what I mean, both of them were hands down THE BESTTTT character development in the show, and I was living for it!! Even VGN (some of the members had great development as well) I just loved how even the smaller roles had a little backstory to them where you can see where they are coming from and watch their growth.

I 10/10 would completely recommend this drama!! Its an easy watch with good laughs, a great drama to pass the time. And can i say THEEEE ENDING WAS ONE OF THE MOST SATISFYING ENDINGS I HAVE EVER WATCHED???!! I feel like I don't say that about many dramas but oh man…i was going through all sorts of feels and emotions while watching it. I even watched it multiple times just because of how much i loved it. So if you like gaming, romance orrr even just happy endings give this drama a try^^

Light drama about sportmanship and love

Gank your heart showcased Ji Xiang Kong captain rebellious captain who stands to what he is believe in and to achieve his dream to win the World championship for this country, he met Qiu Ying, a reporter who do anything her boss asked in order to get viral stories. Their relationship started rough but it evolved to supporting friendship to couple. Their love story might look so simple as Qiu Ying has always been fall to him from the beginning, but it also brought you to roller coaster ride before their happy ending.
The soundtrack are good, both songs are in my main playlist
The acting of most of the casts are good and real, the sportsmanship between the team members of most of the team are showcased beautifully.
Its a must watch and indeed need a rewatch

It's a Special Drama (Maybe contain some spoiler/s)

I'm not being exaggerated in my review and rating, but because of this, I learn to re-watch a drama that I can finish. This is the first drama that made me cry in the ending because of its joyfulness, and it is a drama that is about a team pursuing their same dream as well as their individual dream. It is a worth watching drama, and I didn't expect that in the first year I watched this was on August 2020, and then at that time, I'm only watching dramas, and looking for something that is special, and I found this, that made me really excited to watch, first because of the cast, because I think the combination of cast is good, even I am newbie in watching c-dramas at that time, I just think that this will be a great drama with great character roles based on my instinct.

This drama is making me cry, at the same time laugh, so I think I look like crazy while watching this, but I feel happy in those feelings, especially being able to feel romantic excitement. This drama really leaves me great impression and right now, I'm actually re-watching it again for the 2nd time, as I just 1st re-watch this, last February 2021, and by that time, I'm already fan of Wang Yibo, because of this drama.

I also want to share that even the OSTs of this drama is really making me feel different, and every time I hear or listened to it, I can't help but smiling, it is because I can even imagine again the scenes where those OSTs played.

This drama is really interesting, not only for fun but you can also learn some lessons, and whenever I watched the B-T-S of this drama, it is just making me laugh how different their character is in what their real personalities is, and that means, their acting is really good, that they can be able to portray a role that they can carry.

I REALLY RECOMMEND this drama, it is WORTH WATCHING!

This drama definitely grew on me, but I almost dropped it because of the FL at the start.

At first the FL really annoyed me, especially in the first episode. She was so bloody unprepared and ignorant, she seemed like she didn't even care for gaming at all but still wanted to be a commentator. I wanted to drop the drama altogether but I actually liked the ML throughout. Her character does grow. She becomes less ignorant and actually starts to do really well in her field because she starts gaming herself in order to understand it. What I loved most about her was that she didn't want to be part of any drama and ran away from it whenever she had the chance and I couldn't blame her.

I sort of started this drama for Wang Yibo, but mostly because I wanted to watch another drama like "Falling For Your Smile". This drama definitely has a LOT more complicated drama than the other show, but it still had the sweet slow burn romance and friendship between team mates. I didn't really like the storyline of the ML's ex girlfriend coming back, I never like those types of storylines and the ML have way to much credit to his ex.

I really liked the ML, he was a great friends, good teammate and a good gamer, but when it came to romance he wasn't really good at it. Whilst he was close friends with the FL and even when they started dating, he had a way to close of a relationship with his ex girlfriend, despite the fact that he genuinely didn't want to get back together with her. It made sense for the FL to make a run for it when she saw her boyfriend (the ML) tell his ex that he'll take care of her forever (due to an injury).

I like that the villain is of this drama were very real. They weren't necessarily bad people, all their actions that made them the "villain" was out of jealousy. But what I hated was that at the very end, they all somehow become good, after making the main leads go through hell, they are suddenly supportive of the leads and happy for them with no explanations.

Overall, I really enjoyed this drama and have watched it several times. It had a good combination of romance and friendship, and was also good at depicting realistic (or at least more realistic than your typical drama) struggles in achieving one's dreams.

The acting for me was pretty good, there were some moments where it was a little "drama-like" but for the most part it was very believable and enjoyable.

The chemistry between the leads was great and had me rooting for them all the way through. It was very satisfying when they got together and there were several episodes (the final ten) where you got to see them as a couple (which is good as a lot of dramas end when they get together and don't show you much afterwards).
I really liked the development between the two leads (although I must admit there was a bit of a jump - although not too bad - during the transition between conflict and the start of their friendship), particularly how they became friends before they became lovers. The story allowed them to get to know one another and see/help each other during some struggles before they officially became a couple.

*SPOILERS AHEAD* - skip to the end of review if you don't want to read

In terms of criticisms, some people have said that the first couples of episodes are a bit slow/boring - which I can understand, however, I would suggest to keeping watching past those episodes as it does get better as it goes.

Personally I was annoyed by the ex-girlfriend story-line. They used it multiples times during the second half of the drama and I honestly found it irritating. The first time was fine, but afterwards it was just annoying. In this case it was an ex-girlfriend who couldn't accept that the main lead had moved on and it was just too much and repetitive.

Something I didn't like was that in this drama there were only two kisses between the leads and both occurred in one episode (ep 26 or 27). There were several occasions where they could've added another and it would have been very natural and cute, but unfortunately that did not happen (not even in the last episode). This might not bother you, but it did bother me a little.

Another things was that the two leads had some conflicts in the final few episodes and then in the last episode they made up in the final ten minutes and all was well. It was a little sudden and the conflict was rather frustrating (refer back to ex-girlfriend comment) - particularly since their relationship was being developed really well in the last ten episodes.

*SPOILERS FINISHED*

Overall I really enjoyed it. While it had some flaws, I thought that this drama was one of the better dramas I have seen. It was refreshing and more realistic than most and the chemistry between the two leads were really good.
I love to come back to it and should you choose to watch it, I'd hope you can like it too.

Friendship, gaming and reaching your dreams

There are a lot of aspects this drama does well and a lot of ways this drama is refreshingly unique. But there a few things I was not particularly satisfied with, namely the romance.

First off, this drama focuses more on the leads' e-sports dreams (more on the male lead's though) and friendship/bromance, with less attention being given to the lead's romance (or the female lead's journey). In terms of the first two aspects, the drama does a pretty good job. We see the ups and downs the leads face to reach their goals and how they overcome their obstacles. It sort of fits the song "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor very well. Watching the friendship and bromance among the male lead and the various team members we encounters was also fun.

This drama respects and challenges it's female lead, Qiu Ying. For one, she works really hard - she starts at the bottom and her success is due to her determination and effort. People do not automatically like her. She does not have some insane underlying talent or is constantly protected by the male characters. While she does get help from others, she puts in effort to get that help. In fact, there is a scene where a character is discussing with Qiu Ying's career rival that she (the rival) is in fact just as talented as Qiu Ying but the difference is that Qiu Ying just works harder. Next, she is not dense when it comes to love. She has to experience the struggles of liking someone, supporting them and pursing a relationship. The male lead does not fall for her because she's cute or she's the first person to treat him a certain way. To add to that, her love rival is not the typical evil second female lead but actually a real character with her own struggles and a connection to the male lead. In fact, the second female lead gets the 'character background' advantage that drama writers usually reserve for female leads. Due to all of the above, Qiu Ying is a character who has to prove she is the female lead through her actions not because her character is 'set up' to win. A lot of her actions revolve around the male lead, but she can exist as her own character.

The male lead also also has his fair share of struggles. Although he is very talented, his role in the team is the background tactician. When the team wins, the credit and stardom goes to the player that makes the killer moves and when the team loses, it's his fault for not having a good strategy. He is also someone that has goals, works hard, does the right thing and is a very loyal team member and friend. The big flaw he had was prioritizing relationships. As stated earlier, the one aspect I felt was lacking was the romance and that was due to the male lead. I really appreciate the attempt to make it organic and not fall on clichés or coincidence and while it was not bad, all the credit here goes to the female lead. I actually though the second (the best friend's) romance, although not given as much screen time, was cuter, more balanced and more fulfilling.

The acting was pretty good. Pei Xi seemed a little stiff, not sure if it was the actor himself or the way he was told to play that character. The production was glaringly low-budget and the product placement was part comical and part exacerbating. The music is decent. Overall, it was not my favorite drama but a decent watch and deserves credit for it's organic character set-up, particularly for the female lead.

I made an account just to review this drama because it is 100% worthy of me doing this
Honestly, I cried and laughed so much and i feel like overall, it is an amazing drama, especially the gaming scenes OH MY GOD they were SO INTENSE IT WAS DONE SO WELL!!! PROPS TO THE PEOPLE WHO WORKED BEHIND THE SCREEN!!!!
One thing i do have to say though (slight spoiler I guess) - why was it necessary for that manager dude to do what he did ?? And not get punished for it??? That actually made me so pissed because he wasn't punished for it - not OK.
Rewatch value - i feel like sometimes the story did drag on but i kept replaying while I was watching because the scenes were so good!!!!! Definitely wouldn't be surprised if I rewatched this, but I'd probably watch some bits at x2 speed
Music - AMAZING I LOVE IT AND Honestly, it was one of the reasons why i started watching this - i just love the opening - it is sooooo gooood!!! For people who don't usually watch the opening theme songs (me), the opening theme song as well as the clip was done so well - the climax of the song fit the video clip so well - watch it and you'll know what I'm talking about
The acting I feel was pretty natural, and i have to say the two main leads' relationship appeared so genuine and they really did so well to portray the love they had for each other, and the hugging scenes were so pure
The character development of Pei Xi made me cry so much and feel so good for him
Overall, AMAZING DRAMA DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!!!!

when you finish this drama you feel warm and accomplished.
Compared to other e-sport dramas this one concentrates less on game itself but rather the gaming world and people involved and everything around E-gaming.
The main lead is pure eye candy and lead girl is so lovely with her warm smile you cant wait too see them in scenes.

the drama is well written, only in my opinion too many flashbacks and way to long staring.
with more than 200 dramas in the list I get bored with long staring and paused long moments. but there is always option to skip 10 seconds so everything is good.

I would give 9/10.
It feels good ppl not giving up on dreams on each other and always believing in good.
recommended even if you are not that much of e-gaming style drama fan.
Commenting during the matches(esp last one) was so overwhelming, for I second I myself felt I was there.
