A legendary Makjang to me.
If you enjoy Makjang's, this drama is for you. It rips your heart out over and over again while warming it and making you feel content. You are constantly on edge, wanting it to go one way but also another way. It ended unexpectedly well. The drama tells the story of a mother who would do anything for her child and it's very admirable. She isn't perfect and struggles to make the wrong choices but in the end, it all pays off well. If you enjoy melodramas where the characters morals are constantly put to the test, this is definitely the drama to watch. The cast are all-round amazing actors who have been in the industry for a while and you can truly see it when the show goes on.Was this review helpful to you?
A Pledge to God
- The story itself is unique and has a deep meaning behind it; just poor execution.- Every scene with the mother in it, she's crying. (It ticked me off.)
- Rollercoaster of emotions. The show really makes your blood boil and your heart melt.
- There are some very great characters. (The grandmas, Hyeon woo, and Hyeon woo's non biological father, Jae wook's sister, etc.)
- I think that the show could be shortened.
- Overall, acting could be better. Some scenes were very repetitive, but the storyline was unique.

There are better melos out there...
Cheap melodrama, its narrative shortcomings are somewhat forgivable due to the inept writer's apparent limitations in using other means to occupy its duration. However, the same can't be said for its conclusion, which regrettably left the viewers with a palpable sense of disappointment. The only thing you'll be getting is a stinging sour aftertaste. Was this review helpful to you?
