Loved it!!!

Now this is what you call a perfect drama. Acting, Screenplay, Story, Direction, Music everything is just top notch... Any person who loves a good screenplay must watch this. It was a well portrayed drama. All the movie references got me. Coming to the story, loved how all the four friends have different stories. Shows how love isn't same for all. Read many reviews blaming Khai, well I wouldn't say he was good, but I wouldn't blame him either. Coz Third never confessed to Khai, so Khai never knew how he felt. And the thing about being a bad friend, yes Khai was a bad friend, but from the moment he knew Third liked him... there was a drastic change. And honestly I never cried once for Third, but whenever Khai cried I felt him... So yeah, I would definitely rewatch it for their acting and the screenplay..

I watch this around January or February of this year (2022). I really enjoyed it and absolutely adore all the characters. And I didn’t plan on reading the novel but it’s now April 24th 2022 and I decided to read it. I gained a better appreciation for this series now that I’ve read the novel and will definitely rewatch it. Now I know the love interest (Khai Khunpol) was kind of an asshole in the series I love him dearly. I love all the characters so much. OffGun’s chemistry was amazing as well.

a record for portraying so many easy girls and boys

Though the dynamics of the main couple is pretty good - despite some dragging and some nonsensical moments - i'm totally in awe to see SO MANY easy people at once! Students too! The girls are pretty but they literally BEG the guys to bed them and keep changing partners over some concert tickets! The boys are no less - they pick up a girl every time they go out at the bar, proceed with kissing in the bathroom and soon they end up at his or her place. Just like that! Honestly, it's nothing realistic abt it. At this rate, everybody gets to sleep with everybody. Is this a hippy sex-liberation camp or something?
The two ML's are off sync for most of the time. Either one or the other keeps chasing his partner without being reciprocated, then the roles are changed and this goes on almost till the end.
It could have been way better.

This drama FLIPPED my expectations

This is a more personal review than I usually do, but if you're trying to decide whether to watch Theory of Love or not, I still recommend reading this!

Okay, where to start... First of all, this show has great phasing. I loved the way how 6 episodes were from Third's point of view while the remaining other 6 episodes were from Khai's! That way we could see everything that happened and how it affected both of them with no biases. The depth in characters was also amazing to see, and their morals were realistic. Another realistic thing was the portrayal of love in different shapes, or should I say "genres".

This show had an interesting and unique touch on the romance genre, and it showed us how simple yet difficult love can be. While it's easy to fall in love, falling out of love is way harder.

The setting was original. Even though the trope "I fell in love with my best friend and kept it a secret because they're a player" might sound generic or disinteresting, this drama handled that concept beautifully; Especially the fact that Third didn't just give his heart to Khai when he asked for it, but rather wanted to make sure and be convinced that Khai knew what he was getting into and why- to ensure their bond wouldn't break completely just because of their hastiness.

I really enjoyed them being film students, and actually this drama was one of the reasons I came to be more interested in pursuing that career, realizing I might prefer to be a screenwriter instead of a novelist with how visually my mind works. The movie references were also a fun additional touch, although I didn't recognize them, the characters did and that's what made it special.

The character dynamics were also fun! I liked how none of them had a clear thought about everything, and how they showed that miscommunication is still common even between long-time close friends.

I'm comfortable with giving this a 9.0 score. For a Thai drama, this was extraordinarily great. I truly believe that every fan of romance dramas should watch this at some point to see different perspectives on the genre.

Lack Of Communication

**Brief Synopsis**
B (Student): Third
T (Student): Khai

- Beginning: T and B are students at the same school. T is a player, changing girlfriends quickly. B is in love with T and is used to T's antics and accepting to simply be a friend until T starts prioritizing girls over him, ditching him to go on dates. The first half of the show is B sad over T's actions.

- Middle: After a while, B bad enough and decides to distance himself from T. T realizes this and starts missing B's presence. Just as he thought he was only missing the friendship, he sees B with someone else and feels hurt and jealous. He then knew he liked B in that way. However B isn't that ready to accept him. T perseveres, slowly softening B.

End: Before they could have their happy ending, a misunderstanding undoes everything T has done up to this point to soften B. He tries to explain but B won't listen. Their friends takes B's side. This would have continued if it wasn't for the fact that B finds out that all their friends has ditched T for a trip related to their film project. Feeling bad that no one has told T, he immediately goes to find him, and they talk, explaining the misunderstanding. B finally decides to forgive him. The series ends with them together.

**My Opinion**

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT
- The acting is pretty okay from the main characters and the ensemble cast. It doesn't feel cringey or seem awkward.

WHAY I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT IT
- The plot is predictable and cliche and full of overused BL tropes. The writing is just boring, the whole store simply following a set formula. It's not a fluffy show; it's frustrating and annoying and should have been alot better if the main characters simply talked more invested of simply sitting there in silence with their mouth open. for example the misunderstanding at the end, when B have him the chance to explain clearly, he didn't. B had to hear the explanation from a common friend. It's frustrating seeing them not talking and end up fighting again.
- The characters aren't likable and the main couple shouldn't have gotten together. From what I can see, they don't fit with each other at all, and dating would certainly lead to more heartbreak in the future. T is a jackass and B is afraid to tell anyone how he is truly feeling. Together they will end up fighting again for some other misunderstanding.
- Its way too dramatic for my tastes and it's only drama. There isn't an underlying plot. Everything revolves around romance. Because nothing really happens to the characters, when the romance doesn't attract you, the show simple becomes boring. The drama is also boring and feels useless. Its always the same thing over and over again.

**Conclusion**
A series of angst stemming from a lack of communication. It's a show I won't be revisiting.

Despise him so much. ....

I'm 3 episodes in and I cannot stand Khai. Not as a friend or a potential lover. Not even much as a person. ugh!!!!
The actors are all good, they do good in their characters but man is the storyline and progression driving me nuts. I mean seriously, stop giving him chances. He just turns around and acts like a dick, even to his friends. And then magically does something nice to give Third hope again. I either want Third to leave or for him to confess/Khai get a clue. How stupid and blind do you have to be to be that self absorbed?

First BL series

This was actually my first ever BL series. The very first time I watched it I loved everything about it and was obsessed. However, when I rewatched it, it didn't have the same impact anymore. Maybe it's because by that point I had watched many other great BLs which in turn had raised my expectations.
Firstly, this series DRAGS for no reason. For more than half of the series, Third is mistreated by Khai who is supposed to be his best friend. Even if they were not lovers you still shouldn't be that shitty to your friends. Those episodes were hard for me to watch because I just wanted to shake Third and tell him that he deserved better. When Third was finally starting to move on I was very happy for him. Of course, that's when Khai starts to realise how much he values his friendship with Third. Not only that but he all of a sudden comes to terms with his feelings for Third too. This shift for me is the problem. It just felt unnatural and a little rushed. The screenwriters could have cut a portion of Third's heartache (which lasted for way too long anyway) and invested a few more episodes into actually developing their love story.
Other than that though the actors themselves were great. Gun is an incredible actor and Off's acting wasn't bad either though in their recent projects you can see how much he has improved. If you want to watch a series that will pull at your heartstrings, make you laugh out loud and scream internally from frustration then this series is for you.
Also sidenote, Un and Two were really cute but Bone's love story with his teacher was a miss. It was not only distasteful but very unnecessary too.
Overall this BL is better than most.

Frustrating... But Realistic

I try to be careful to not put in spoilers, but I do want to say this... The first five or six episodes made me almost stop watching. I REALLY was so angry at both main characters. If you give up watching during these episodes, as I almost did, you will miss out on a great series. Hang in there, it is worth it! The show has a great cast, awesome acting skills to the point where it does not feel like you are watching a show but can really be immersed in it. I will also say if you like comedy, this show has none, if you like a lot of kiss scenes (or s*x scenes) you won't find them in this series - for me personally, without a little physical emotion or even gazing into each other's eyes, etc. although the series is really good it never really makes me convinced that the characters are more than just good friends.

You’ll need tissues and ice cream, trust me

I got a lot more than I expected. I knew there was going to be some unrequited love, secret crush on your best friend kind of thing. But I did not expect there to be so much heartache. I spend most of the series wanting to either slap some sense into Khai or Third or both! They were both flawed, but I feel like their flaws made the plot and the series seem so realistic. They truly takes us through an emotional rollercoaster.

I think the actors (not just the main ones) have great chemistry between each other. I felt like the dynamics between them were amazing. There was a lot shown through just looks and the fact they can portray so much emotion through their eyes is absolutely amazing. They are especially good at showing longing for the character they like.

Khai & Third: I wasn’t sure what kind of ending I wanted for them – do I want them together or should they both just get with someone else? Third’s love for Khai is something I truly couldn’t understand at first. Khai seemed to be treating him very poorly while claiming he is his best friend. But then there were moments where we got to see some interactions that made me think that must be Khai that Third loves. The Khai that wasn’t really shown because it would make him too likeable too fast. Third is someone who gives his all to those around him, if they deserve it or not. Khai, on the other hand, is selfish and arrogant, used to girls falling down at his feet. I know how hard moving on from someone can be, especially if it's someone that is close to you. Which means I can understand why Third found it so hard to move on from Khai, not matter how bad he treated him. But then we get to the second half of the series where we get to see things from Khai’s perspective. And I did start to feel some sympathy for him. The scenes when he realizes that he was a terrible friend and terrible human being and just how much hurt he caused Third were the ones that left a lot of impact. I think we got to see a different side of him. Not only that, but he really showed a lot of character growth, and he tried his best to change to be someone worthy of Third’s love. Sadly, he was too stupid to realize how important Third is to him until he lost him.

I am not a fan of the fact that someone of the scenes where Third was crying (namely the shower ones) were done as a comic relief. The rest of the series was quite heavy, so these scenes seemed kind of out of place. But talking about comic scenes, I really enjoyed the opening scene of the first episode – Third was doing review of every possible “I’m in love with my best friend” movie while Khai was clueless in the back of the videos. I feel like that really showed us how stupid and clueless Khai can be. And the fact that each episode was named after one of the RomCom classics was fun. I have seen all of the movies mentioned and I can see why they were used as the episode titles.

I don’t think my problem with Khai and Third possibly being the end game is in who Khai was before. He was a player, a womanizer, someone who didn’t really appreciate those around him. To me, those are all forgivable things. What I find very hard to forgive is the way he treated Third, especially when he thought that Third might have a crush on him. That is something that made me hate him from the bottom of my heart. Not only was he a terrible friend (from what we could see) up until then, but he went out of his way to hurt him. Again and again.

Two and Bone are great friends to both Khai and Third. They both made some very questionable decisions, I am not going to deny that, but they were there for their friends when they needed them most. When Third was suffering, they were there for him. When Khai decided to try and win Third over, they were there for him as well. They were both fully supportive of their friends throughout the series.

I am a bit sad that their stories were not developed more though. I think pairing Two with Un was an interesting choice, but definitely not one I am against. I think the two match each other quite well. Pairing Bone with Paan on the other hand made me feel all sorts of things. I did like the idea of him dating someone a bit older, a bit more mature, but I had a weird feeling about it from the moment the two talked for the first time. The first plot twist was not really something that surprised me. But the second one? Damn, that one hurt. I do feel like Bone’s love for Paan was a bit too quick – he knew nothing about her, it felt more like physical attraction to me, a crush, than real love. To be honest, love is a word that seemed to be thrown around quite a lot in this series (even with Khai and his parade of girlfriends).

I think that Two’s and Khai’s confusion about their sexuality is something that was done incredibly well. Both characters were only interested in girls up to this point in their life. Developing feelings for a man caused both of them a lot of confusion, it made them question themselves. Although I feel like Khai was more troubled by the fact he developed feelings for his best friend.

I enjoyed the fact that they actually included a lot of their university work in the storyline. I feel like we often don’t see any schoolwork that the characters need to do, they are just put into the university because that’s what sells.

I'll finish the review with a quote from How to be a Wallflower that was used in the series and that I believe can really summarize a lot of what we got to see: "We accept the love we think we deserve."

THEORY OF LOVE! EXPLORING CLASSIC MOVIES IN ONE SERIES!

Theory of Love is an incredible BL series centering its theme about a one-sided love turned to mutual understanding and intimacy. Personally, I kind of loved the theme of the series, of them trying to base each episode from a Classic American or English movie exploring and designing a basic but effective formula and theory of love.

The Plot.
The whole plot of the series is obviously based on the classic movie "Flipped". Which is very interesting for me as they portray the sequence in to a BL show, with two bestfriends, one who loved the other, and the other one being a jerk, jumping from one girl to another. The whole flow of the drama, is tear-jerking, funny, and sometimes just makes your blood boils, and make your head aches until it makes your brain explodes. The mixed emotions you will feel while watching this drama is so confusing that there will be a point in time, that you won't know what will you feel. You'll be confused if you should be sad, angry, happy, or even disgusted. I will give a solid 8 for the plot. This might not be the perfect plot for a BL show, but the plot itself is so satisfying and creative. So ill give the show credit for that.

The Characters
Gun and Off! I can honestly say that I only watched this series because of them. Gun's acting is phenomenal! He really executed the character well. Especially, for the first few episodes. Where we all witness the pure sadness and grief of his character, being in love with a jerk, and seem like he can't do anything with his feelings because he's the bestfriend, let alone knowing that he loved a straight male which is a huge jerk. His acting really captured the hearts of the viewers, he infected us with his sadness too. I am sure theres a lot of viewers in there who also cries in every episode because of Gun's character. I mean he is superb!

Off's acting is great too. I mean he becomes more awesome as time goes by. I can really say his acting has improved in this one since his other's drama. I will give him thumbs up for that. Of course, we can change the fact that Off did a great job in portraying his character. I mean he made me wanna punch him in every time I see him in the first few episodes. I think everyone, felt the way I felt too. The anger and rage that I felt just watching him testing Third if he really likes Khai. I mean I almost broke my phone because of disgust and just pure anger. My blood just boils every time I saw him in the first few episodes in the series.

The bestfriends are really the best of friends. Two and Bone is the best friends someone needs. I mean, Bone has his wrongs but we already forgave him with that since he confronted Third with it, and even helped him. Two is just what all of us needs. A supporting friend who doesn't want you to be hurt no matter what. Plus, his relationship with Un made the show more exciting for me, not gonna lie. However, Bone and Paan's relationship made me uneasy and uncomfortable. i don't know why, maybe because he's in love with his teacher or something who turns out to be married? oooooh the age gap.

Conflicts and Resolutions
Theres a scene that i didn't really liked and I didn't understood well. The bathroom scene where Khai, CONSCIOUSLY, kissed Third, hoping that Third will get over him. I mean what? How dumb is that? I mean, it worked. I saw it worked but I am not really comfortable with that concept and idea plus the awkward kiss, where Third didn't kiss back. Eh! I was disgusted during that scene. I hated that scene! But I tried to get over that scene.

The time it flipped. Where Khai seemed to realized he has feelings with this too. That satisfied me that much. ooooof the satisfaction crawled all throughout my body. Yeah, I dont know why, but that easily calmed me down. I instantly became Team Khai. That's how weak I am hahahahahahha.

One thing, as I was so commited in watching the characters and understainding their story, I didn't really get to notice the music at all and it didn't really captured my attention that much so i'll rate it lower. The rewatch value too. I don't really have the urge to rewatch the series just because of all the crying, and the grief. I am so sorry. but overall, I enjoyed the whole series, I loved it!

Disclaimer: I'm reviewing this series a month after I watched it, so I may have forgot something, or had errors in my reviews. Please don't mind the grammar too. hehe

To much crying

I won't say much but damn the ML cryed this entire drama mire than once per episode and it was tiresome to watch.

The thing that bothered me though it mught not be the crying but the fact that they took a straight guy and turned him gay. Don't get ne wrong tjis is definitely not my first BL drama and i enjoy BL dramas but goid ines not this. Just luke yoy can't turn a straight woman into a lesbian you can't turn a straight man into gay. It doesn't work like that.

Third is gay but Khai is definitely not gay he isn't even bisexual to say it. I can't belive he turned fay just for his friend. Plus it wasn't believable for ne.

Sorry. I would have rated this a 4 ? but i like Gun and he is a good actor can't say the same about the others. They did their best but this drama was not their cup of tea. Also i didn't feel chemistry between the leads.

If you are a hopeless romantic this is for you

Or, if you like romantic comedies in general :P

The plot is simple, friends who fall in love, but beautifully executed. Most people can relate to that, friends can become lovers and some of us know it bc we had a crush for or even dated our best friend (me, in High School). ALSO, I'm a sucker for romance movies from de 90/early00's because they shaped my life, my adolescence and my views about love! Noticing the references in this drama was so much fun, I wasn't expecting that! They were so carefully used, the scenes the Third played were great. So this series is definitely made for the hopelessly romantic.

I really loved Third, he is honest and the best friend a person can have. He is also romantic, dramatic and he lives too much in his head. I was really happy he decided to stand for himself and not accept Kai's behaviour at some point, because he must've been mentally exhausted. He was so brave to confess. He was such a kind soul to still be friends with Kai after his stupid behaviour. I wanted to give him a hug and in the end to tell him to follow his heart.

Kai was everything a lame young adult is, overbearing, egoistical, selfish and inconsiderate of others. I hated his guts in the first half, so to see him suffer and change was a good ride. When he started to fall for Third I ended up forgiving him because he suffered a lot to redeem himself. To be in a position where the person you love changes with you, ignores you or leaves you is very sad and that made my heart ache together with Kai's and reminisce my own experiences. When we see ourselves in the characters and have this connection is so good, kudos to the acting and directing.

The end is a bit draggy, but great. They seem like those couples who would always remember each other, either ending up together eventually or being stars-crossed longing for each other.

Overall, good acting, many feelings of love in different intensities, a lot of crying, good nostalgia and a warm fuzzy feeling inside when it's over. Lovely series.
