Annoying characters
Okay so I've only watched about one half of this drama and it's too late to back out because then I'd feel like I wasted my time but I also lowkey feel like I'm wasting my time continuing to watch this drama. Anyways .......1) The beginning episodes with the kids were so good, it was interesting and every character seemed cool. I loved the kid squad as in my opinion, they were better actors/actresses than the grown up actors/actresses. I wished that they didn't grow up too early. The female lead is so boring compared to literally everybody else omg. It felt like the child her and the grown up her are two different people. The purple eyed girl in my opinion should've been the FL because her story arc is more interesting and in my opinion, she acts better. The male lead feibai omg, he is so stoic and awkward like the romance scenes just look weird. Also, there was barely any romance bt him and FL; there was more romance w/ him or shall I say his twin with purple eye girl. Anyways, I don't see the necessity of him being a twin like it's extra misunderstanding and complications for nothing. The purple eye girl deserved better! The FL's brother is annoying as hell and I felt bad for Jin Xiu for liking him but also it's gross bc they're cousins. Oh btw there really shouldn't have been rape scenes like the director/screenwriters need to chill. The purple eyed guy is also annoying like be your king and stop messing around omg. The other support characters are blah and meh as well.
2) The storyline is annoying in my opinion. There shouldn't have been too many complications and misunderstandings like everything could've been solved in .1 sec if feibai and his twin explained everything. Also lets be real a lot of us are watching for romance and the romance is not there. The romance between all the characters are so dull and awkward except for Jin Xiu in my opinion lol I felt for her but she was lowkey really desperate and needed to chill. I also don't understand why every single male wanted to be with the FL. Like sure she's smart and pretty but there are so many other pretty girls like how is she being fancied by all the males! it's annoying, especially when she has literally no screen time with the ML. The political power is meh like you would expect in any power hierarchy drama. It's just frustrating to say the least.
3) It's kind of predictable and you know the purple eye sister will be evil and probably sad ending. The FL will end up with the ML bc the ML will probably die for her once or twice but not really. Jin Xiu and the FL's brother will probably not have a happy ending bc he don't love her. The red eyed prince will probably end with Bi Ying. The purple eyed prince will probably die or end up being king and sad.
4) Take my opinions as you wish and I do not mean to bash this drama although I already am but maybe the other half will be better so I will definitely come back and change this rating. :)
I am coming back after fast forwarding 20 episodes and I hate this drama with all of my passion.
1) FL and ML have no chemistry whatsoever like they’ve been apart for so long and I still don’t understand why FL is in love with ML. She should be in love with the purple eyed prince like they went through so much more than her and ML. The cross dressing was okay and funny at first but then it got so fucking draggy and annoying like did we really need ten episodes of them hiding omg like bruh.
2) I have a problem with the FL being the innocent typical goody two shoes that gets blamed for things and try to be like no it’s not me but doesn’t really try to fix the problem or whatever. She just lacks motivation and ambition and it’s like watching a character being dragged around by everyone but everyone needs her for some reason. Not to mention like why does so many people like her lol, the other girls are like able too. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again Jin Xiu deserved better than that piece of trash. BiYing or whatever her name is had a decent story arc but when she saw her mother lol her mother low key looks younger or her age so it was weird to watch. It’s also annoying that she believes everyone and is like a flower that bends in whatever direction the wind blows. Her love story with the red eyed prince was just weird and annoying like they’re adults they just need to communicate but they kept hiding their true emotions.
3) Second FL has every right to be evil and I’m glad she’s evil bc at least her character has some depth but honestly she deserves so much better than FL. I think she’ll have a bad ending but I’m so sick of FL omg. I’m so annoyed at how everyone is jealous of FL bc it’s annoying and it’s the roots of all problem. It’s just super cliche and honestly she isn’t that special lol.
4) ML dad pisses me off bc don’t he need the six kids to make him king or whatever so why he trynna kill them like what do you want bruh?!?! I’m just done with this drama and stupid plot. This drama couldve easily been 30 episodes like everything was so dragged out for no fucking reason and it’s 2/3 done but there really hasn’t been much action lol. Also FL is doing nothing for so long it’s getting so annoying like don’t u want to revenge for ur parents? She literally witnessed her mother fall to her death but has to motivation to do anything. It’s annoying that her motivation towards the end of the drama is love and it’s not being convincing love like u barely had scenes with ML. I am so annoyed lol anyways I hope y’all don’t wasted our time on this trash smh.
I finished this drama and I want to take back the time I fast forward this drama omg I would rather have someone slap me than watch this drama if I could turn back time. The FL honestly I don’t think she was remotely cunning like everyone else was just mad dumb and annoying that’s why the FL looks smart. The fact that none really died while they should’ve made me annoyed lmfao. Honestly, this drama can go away. I had high expectations but was met with so much utter bs I am so annoyed lol. I highly recommend that you do not watch this drama and save your time. Doing chores or working out is better than watching this.

Unique story to each character and very original plot (only if logic isn't used when watching)
This is the first time I've seen a drama where every review left here is below 5. As someone who has watched approximately more than 200 dramas under my profile, I can say this was not that bad. Yes, I admit the story itself was messy because there were way too many characters to keep track of. BUT, if you watched every minute of it until the end (and did not pay attention to the flaws of course), then you will realize that the story itself actually revolves around the brother/sisterhood of the 5 of them. The romance is there but to build on each of their unique characters in terms of how they became bad I guess...because that is reality, not everyone will walk the same path.Many reviews complain why the purple eye girl isn't the main character because she was physically special (her eye colour) and how that didn't come with any superpowers. All I can say is that her eye colour didn't exist for no reason. In the story, it was there as a defect/deformity and the explanation to why she was treated badly by others and as a sign of bad luck... which then comes to explains why she went down the wrong path later in the story. Also, many people complained about why so many male characters liked the main female lead when she was such a boring character. My explanation is that she is 1. Beautiful and 2. Kindhearted. There were 5 who liked her in total and if you have watched dramas like Handsome Siblings or Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre, around 5 female characters also fall in love with the male lead and that number is normal. But what I liked about this drama is these male characters move on and come to like a different girl rather than blindly like the main female lead until the end of the story. Although the female lead lacked characterisation that differentiate her as the very main character, in the latter half of the drama, this improved. Her intelligence and wits was shown and if you have watched General and I, she reminded me of Bai Pingting. The pacing of the drama was not slow at all to me and I reckon it was because it told many stories within the story (about other characters) and that detail made it unique because it explained every character and their importance in the story such as why they exist and why they act this certain way. This way, the story doesn't rely completely on the leads (especially if you found their characters/romance/story boring). Every bad character in this also had their own reasons which are covered in detail in the drama and that's why I can feel for them compared to bad characters in other dramas. The ending was the best part of this drama and it was beautifully scripted; every character, both good and bad, had a very happy ending.
Overall, I enjoyed the drama from start to finish but I wouldn't recommend it to those who haven't watched many similar types of dramas in the same genre like I have. This is because those that have seen many would enjoy it more without using logic to criticise these types of long dramas.

"There's something about MuJin"
I almost feel like this could have been renamed "There's something about MuJin" because people were falling for her left and right. To start, I instantly liked MuJin as a little girl! Haha did MuJin just bite his butt cheek!?! XD You gotta do what you have to when a knife's involved! XD And young Qi Feng is so darn adorable with his willfulness! Seeing them all as kids made me want to see 10 or so episodes more of their adventures. There were only a couple occasions where the scenes seemed to end abruptly or jumped from A to D, which could have had a smoother transition because it seemed like either footage was omitted or edited out for reasons unknown & they just went on with the story as if it were understood. It left me feeling a little cheated. Although the relationship between Fei Bai & Mu Jin was developing, I found myself more interested in the support characters like Fei Qing, Fei Yan, Fei Dai/Sima Ju, Yue Rong, Fei Yu (Li Hao Bin), Song MingLei, and Auntie (Lt) Chen. The character development for each of them was commendable and unique. I also liked how typically Princes& Princesses are all seemingly perfectly healthy, but the Princes each had some personal trauma whether it was physical or mental that they were tackling that was impeding their growth in some way. The music flowed well/match the different scenes. Each character's individuality, struggles, presence was expressed pretty well. So the acting, production was done nicely. The child actors were impressive too.The only part that got me was (Spoiler!!! don't read this if you haven't watched the last episode yet!) FeiBai gives Sima Ju the throne to make up for all the years he was trapped in the dark place... Umm... who else thinks Sima Ju/FeiDai was given the raw end of the stick? His brother gave him one form of confinement in place of another, so he (FeiBai) can travel with his wife (>__<) (>__<)!!??!! FeiBai walking away with a smile just made me so sad & uncomfortable for FeiDai/Sima Ju!!! (T__T) But as emperor, I'd hope Sima Ju/Fei Dai could make the rules and travel too! He deserves to see the world. I hope he uses that beautiful mind of his to travel after basking in the light of day for a few months. I was originally hoping that they'd take turns. But at the end, they made it clear what happened. I'm foolishly hopeful, I'd like to imagine Sima Ju/Fei Dai faked his death instead and hopefully start a life away from all that mess he grew up in & away from Jinxiu who only hurts him. (T__T)

Purple eyes girl is supposed to know martial arts but hasn't got a clue. Her sister is supposed to be intelligent but comes across as dumber than a brick. Male lead is always looking like a zombie who attacked the makeup van and very lifeless.
Skipped most of each episode. A 46 minute episode was watched in 5 minutes, that's how boring it was.
Would not recommend or rewatch.

DUDE I CANT BELIEVE I ACTUALLY WATCHED IT ALL!! mostly skipped a lot of it. if you really have a lot of time then go ahead ... but otherwise I wont recommend this drama1) 60 freaking episodes is way too much, they try to write/ pack so much in the drama . The plot is sooo stupid and dumb ( im sorry)
2) the beginning when they were a kid started off really strong and then it just spiral down so much
3) was the role of Duan Mu Rong ( Kenny Kwan) even necessary ? Can i even consider him a a second male?
( not to mention the part of how they raised a girl and she tried to dress up like a man...... )
4( too many darn characters and kingdoms that i couldt keep up with. Im like there's a king here , there , and there.
5) The whole drama revolves around the twins ( male lead has is a twin) has a hidden twin. The twin likes the female lead's sister. So the sister the whole time thinks the person she slept with is the male lead but is not , actually the twin. and because of some reason he can only stay under because he needs to protect their family treasure.
6) they portray the female lead as smart and witty but towards the middle she wasnt really helpful .She didnt shine as much and felt that her sister ( who turned evil) out shone her.
7) Ughh so many annoying characters, like some of the other reviews said. Evil Sister, Evil "brother", the list goes on lol

Why all the rape?
Do we really need powerful female characters to be raped in order to have them overcome obstacles? Do we really need to inflict that kind of violence on film to prove villains are evil? Is there really no other way? These writers lacked in imagination if they go right to rape to make a strong female character feel degraded. I don’t care if the rapists eventually die, to go straight to rape to make the female characters helpless is a sad attempt at character evolution. Maybe if it was one time I can ignore it but more than that? Really that just means a lack of originality or maybe a creepy perversion. The way the writers use rape to victimize women and belittle them makes me disgusted. The only thing they have going for them are the costumes, scenery and actors. Originally the story had great potential. There were six kids that were chosen to become the core, six. These six kids were suppose to be gifted and extremely talented, they were suppose to change the world. But as the story went on, WTF happen to the build up of the six core, the pack that these kids made together to stand together against all diversity and help one another until the end of time. It was no where in sight, there was no sisterhood or brotherhood love as promised in the first two episode as the drama progress. Nope just a lot of back stabbing and manipulation between the characters. Problems with the plot: or holes in the plot:
For starter, I don't understand the purpose of the purple eye characters. It was said that the people with purple eyes were suppose to be lucky and bring luck and prosperity to which ever Kingdom they belong too, but that was not the case. The prince from the foreign kingdom with the purple eyes spent the rest of his life longing for the FL who did not pick him and he did not achieve anything great or renowned. The second Purple eye character was also a busted. She was a villainous snake, that should have been given green eyes instead. She was spent the first of drama being confused,then the remaining as a resentful and vengefully person. Yes, life dealt her a dirty hand , but she blamed everyone for her own mistakes and never owned up to any mistakes that she ever made even as the story progress. She marries the dad but loves the son and then blames her older sister for sealing the man that she loves, unbeknownst that the person she was actually in love with was the twin of the ML. But even after she Finds that out she still continued to hurt all those around her, including the ML twin the only male character who truly and only loves her.
Why everyone fell in love with the FL. There was absolutely nothing extraordinary about the FL, she was only smart when the scripted needed her to be. She was very dumb whenever the script did not need her too be smart. She was not extremely memorable. Don't get me wrong the actress did a great job, but the script she was dealt was DAF. She in my opinion did not posses any like able traits to make all the good looking young guys fall in love with her. Like other FL characters from other dramas. She wasn't a strong Female lead, or the smartest, overall she was like your average Joe. I did not understand why they were so madly in love with her.
The fighting skills of the Female Cast: Like how they only needed the FL to be smart when it best served the script, the same thing can be said about the Female characters fighting skills. They were only good fighters when it serves to fit the script, when it did not fit a particular part or scene, their fighting skill is a joke, considering that they were the creme of the crop, of their group during their training days. It was embarrassing to watch them constantly getting their ass kicked when it best fitted the boring script or their lack of talent to fight despite training for 10 long years!
Too many characters: Too many characters, that the plot is all over the place, trying to tell everyone story and trying to tie them back together is ridiculous. It better to have fewer and better developed character. Characters are forgotten and their purpose in the original designed is distorted and becomes absolutely meaningless. The younger cousin was train to become the leader of the core six and that never happen. The six kids never changed the world like they were suppose too.
The Chemistry between the FL AND ML. Yes, the meet at the beginning when they were younger but for the first 16 episode there is very little interaction between them and how they fall in love with one another is very awkward and honesty, I quite don't understand how and why they fell in love with one another when the second ML and FL are more compatible in my personal opinion.
The ML also wears way more makeup then the female lead. And her magic ability to heal his leg is so.... unbelievable.... along with her ideas, that magically just appears when need. Although she was like 9 when supposedly like nine when her skill....
And so on there are so many other problems with the plot that I can stand..... Don't waste your time. It was a poorly written plot with some good looking character.
Take my advice spend your time watching something else. Not worth the time investment.

Convuluted Beginning
This is one of these dramas that you watch and keep asking yourself - why haven't I dropped this hot mess? However, I am always one to take on a challenge. I could only watch this with outside help. I had to research the synopsis of the story from an independent blogger to even begin to understand what the baseline story was about. It began with too many characters, too many unexplained scenarios. However, with the synopsis, I persevered and finished finally getting a handle on the director, screenwriter and editors' goals. 60 episodes was a struggle but when you are homebound daily you have time to waste I would not recommend this drama if you are looking for substance - the one thing that it lacks and that is evident from all the mixed rating reviews on this site.Story: A hodgepodge of plots and subplots and characters that represent evil and good. The problem with the story was the illogical choices of so many of the characters. I don't want to use the word stupid - but it bordered on it sometimes.
Acting: The actors should not be berated because of the work they were given. Most tried their best to give life to their characters. I believe that following each character and how their lives were entwined in the story was the chief motivation for pursuing this to an end.
Music: not relevant to love of drama. Just your average songs and melodies repeated.
Rewatch - NO REWATCH value!!!
Overall: Watched but wish writers would truly take the time to evaluate what is being released. A terrible beginning, good middle, and yes I will say this - a MUDDLED ending.

I don't even know how to break this drama down. My advice is, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. I went from skipping scenes to skipping episodes. It was a complete waste of time. It took 50 episodes for the purple girl to find out the main lead had a twin (whom she loved), by then, all damage has been done.
This show was all over the place, nothing seemed to move in the right direction. I will encourage the screenwriter to spend sometime in Wudang Mountain reflecting before undertaking another project. Needless to say, the actings of the main leads sucked and it wouldn't be bad if they took more acting classes (they do have potentials though).

this drama start out good. then it went downhill after jinxu get rape. this writer ruin this good drama by making jinxu geting rape and making her married feibai and sima ju father. they could have pair her up with sima ju but no they want her to pair up with his father. mujin is to boring. why make her married 2x? it just make her char more hateful. the only char i feel so bad for is jinxu her char suffer so much through out this drama. the lease the writer can do is give her a good ending. i would not recommend watching this drama with u not 18+ since it have rape scene.Was this review helpful to you?
I continued watching this series because it is more historical drama with a few romantic aspects to it and it’s what I enjoy. However I was so frustrated with it. I get the whole point of having a second lead and I understand that developing second lead syndrome is very common however this one was so different. The female lead spent more time on the screen with a second lead and that includes living together, fighting against bad people together, him rescuing her and defending her.
The man leaves were together for a few episodes and then they were apart or any ternity, during that time see if someone developed a family with someone else although it was that romantic it was still a family but she was still hung up on the moving who she had very little time with him so little interaction. That is what I do not like about it. I’m not sure if the writers just tried to make the leads be together just because but the logic is nuts. It essentially just has the female lead acting like an infatuated women.
I suppose it would’ve been better if they had given the male and female lead more screen time together but instead that time was given to the second male lead and the main female lead which made you want them together and also feel their connection. Most of the time I was shaking my head at her.
I mean I know you can’t help who you love but the writers left human logic and emotion out of the script or maybe they just disregarded the competence of the viewer. We humans find it hard to not develop an inkling of feelings or emotions for an individual that we live with for three years, that we fight alongside and defended for three years, a person that cared for you, claimed you and would sacrifice all for you.
All this was done for for our female lead but she was like aaanh! I will repeat second lead seemed to get more screen time, have more interaction and greater chemistry but the writers decided on a ship that had no foundation.
