Love, Rain and a whole bunch of problems...

One of those sad stories... boy meets girl... girl meets boy... boy becomes best friends with other boy who wants to meet girl... two of the three fall in love with each other but... well the two that do are from different socioeconomic backgrounds. People get beaten up. a war breaks out... there is a lot of drama, some we have seen before some slightly new twists and some pretty odd twists of fate that do not make much sense but sure we can go with it...

A bunch of years later... Girl meets boy, girls best friend meets boy too ,girls best friend thinks boy is in love with her... boy is obviously not... oh what a hassle in deed... in what ways history may or may not have repeated itself is what you get to find out if you watch the movie.

The chemistry is decent, the acting too, the. scenery is lovely and there are some pretty great umbrella scenes including the magical yellow umbrella, "forgetting" to bring an umbrella and the getting sick from getting caught in the rain I am a sucker for... And if you are lucky you ay just see a rainbow by the end of the movie...

It’s been a while that I have written a review for a movie or a drama. When I heard that Newwie was offered for a role in a Thai remake of the Korean movie, I got all excited because this will be his first main role in a Thai movie.

I haven’t watched the original which starred my most favorite actor in KDramaland, Jo In Sung. So I will based my review on this remake and not compare it with the original because as I said, I haven’t watched it yet. Classic Again is heartwarming, even at the start of the movie, it’ll give you a good feeling. I like the way they introduced or inject the casts in each scene. I love how the story progressed because I felt like it was planned out carefully and not rushed, so you wouldn’t get to a scene where you will be annoyed.

STORY - Watching Classic Again is giving me the Nicholas Sparks novels turned into movies vibe. The love story might be a cliche but I don’t mind it at all because of how brilliant the film was executed. It is also good that the film really focuses on the story of the characters, be it the flashback or the the present. There are scenes as well that surprises you. My jaw dropped on several scenes, they are these twists that you wouldn’t expect to encounter along the way. The middle part towards the end is full of heartbreaks and hope that you will feel the emotion of each character. That’s how good this movie was made, it was acted exquisitely. The love story of the mother on her youth was sad but the daughters’ love story is bound to be a happy one. My jaw dropped again of the revelation at the end. One of my theory mid-way did happen, I kind of expected it but I was still surprised.

CASTS - Probably, this is one of the movies where I felt mesmerized by the casts and how they give justice to the role they played most especially Mint who played the character of mother and daughter. Newwie is such a revelation here, you cannot deny his talent and his acting here is way way far from his TV roles. Gee who played Non is giving me the Jo In Sung vibe. Maybe that’s the reason why they cast his because he resembles In Sung a bit. The supporting casts were also brilliant in here. Again, this is one of those kind of movie or drama that all casts are likable.

And oh, the CINEMATOGRAPHY towards the end is awesome.

Give me few days and I’ll probably watch this again and again.

First of all, I want to thank the whole team including the actors for this wonderful film. Thank you for remaking this and made it your own.

The flow of the story is not very familiar to me since I haven't too many films before. That is why I found this story so unique and so emotional. I like how simple it began and kind of problematic as it goes on. Definitely, I learned so much from this. Most especially is, "Love sometimes disgrees with the norms and the harder we try to survive and fight for it, the more it gets worser." "Love must continue in any space and in any time. Just a matter of waiting!"

For the actors and casting, at first, I doubted Newwie's acting ability from DBK, because I feel like there is something missing. But when I saw him in Love Beyond Frontier, I was wrong. And when I watched this, it was proven that I was really wrong. He portrayed his character the best way it possible be. He is so fluffy here and can fully understand why Dalah was so whipped when they first met. Adorably great, indeed!
Mint's character are both important not because it is the main role but because of the representation it has. Dalah represent rich culture that is bound by who are we going to meet and be friend with. While Bota, shows how a person can possibly fight for her love.
Gee as Non has a great impact also because love could not perpetuate without him lol .
Meiko made us all realize that friendship must be put above all . It is because we can easily find a new parter, but not a mew friend.

The music is lit. Soothing and mesmerizing
I fel everyone can rewatch it.

The title is totally apt! It's a 'Classic' masterpiece to watch again and 'Again'

I chose to watch this movie right when I got to know about it just because of New, as he was in the main character role. Although I'd have watched it despite of that, but the movie poster was so convincing and beautiful that I couldn't hold myself and went for it. The very first frame when the actual story begins - is just so damn captured. New's innocence is everything in this movie from the very beginning to the very end. It's a journey of beauty where the first half fills you up with love and second half naturally makes you cry because of that love. The movie is so beautifully cinematographed and presented. Every moment, frame and scene is of top mastery. Every next scene makes you go wow with the filmmakers imagination and execution. The artists have played their role so smoothly and perfectly. AND NEWWIE, He's a pure sweetheart throughout. He makes you fall for him even more!!!! ♥️♥️♥️ It's one of those works which becomes close to heart. Added to my one of the favourites list already.

Faithful remake of first loves and letting go

I've already watched the K-version so I already know what's about to happen. I couldn't remember the exact details because I've watched it ages ago so I can't really pinpoint similarities or differences.

STORY
Since I already know the story beforehand, it probably lessen my excitement of watching the story unfold. I think they were quite faithful to the original. The plot twist was well executed. It gave off a lesser melo vibe than the K-version but that's fine for me.

ACTING/CAST
The female lead gave off the same first love aura as Son Ye Jin in the original. They casted Mint perfectly. I think she is one of the most charming Thai actresses I have ever seen. New is the one I am most familiar in the cast and I think he gave a lackluster performance here. Half of the time he looks constipated. He still mastered that puppy look when he's acting smitten though. I do think they have better chemistry than the other male leads. It was really apparent at the beginning of the movie. The actor who plays Non is so wooden. The actor who plays Tanil is much better (the winks are cute).

MUSIC
Imagine my surprise to hear Hospital Playlist OST playing. Then I realized HP songs were all covers of old Korean songs and the original was The Classic's OST. Strangely, it gave me a warm feeling because I adored HP and all its elements. The song reall fits the vibe of the movie. So kudos to the music directors for keeping the original OST and translating it to Thai.

REWATCH
Definitely not a rewatch material for me. I do hope to see more of Mint though because she got my attention now. Hopefully we also see her and New in a reunion project in the future.

I am a big big fan of the korean movie ''The Classic". This movie made me fall in love with Son Ye Jin and Korean entertainment. So I was very curious to know what this remake is worth.

STORY:

I knew the story already and I thought it would a bit boring. But actually it was not. Because this remake made changes in several parts of the writing. It undermined some elements and emphasized others. Most importantly, it changed the general tone of the drama so the emotions you get from watching it are different from the original movie. The original movie was more a roller-coaster of emotions without caring too much about reality or even credibility sometimes. Everything was made for the viewer to smile, laugh, and cry with a story focusing youth, tragedy and fate in a poetic way with things unsaid and two meanings. This Thai version is also full of emotions but the story is more focused on youth, student's life and love, friendship, in a more realistic depiction of the events.

CAST/CHARACTERS:

Son Yeh Jin and Jo Seung Woo were the perfect couple for The classic. They are very talented actors and they portrayed their character perfectly specially in the dramatic scenes were they had to show their emotions. The main couple here are no less deserving. I thought the main actress delivered a great performance. Son Ye Jin always looked liked Son Ye Jin dressed differently. But in this version, I felt like the physical performance was better. The young actress here as a high school girl looked like one: a bit chubby and clumsy. As a student in 1973 she looked a refined student. As a student in 2004, she looked even more different, modern, skinnier and a bit taller. I could almost say it is the daughter of the actress playing the mother and not the same actress. The only thing I liked less was the scene in the restautant. She had curly hairs which suddenly made her look younger and sophisticated. Which I thought was not a great choice.

The actor playing the male lead in 1968 looked so young and even younger as a soldier. He was like a real schoolboy while Oh Jung Ha looked a goofy young man. He had a good chemistry with the main actress anyway. I thought he was bit lacking at times, in the emotional scenes like in the army truck or in the restaurant. Maybe because of less experience. He was convincing enough thought.

I especially liked the male lead in 2004 of this version. For me he corrected something the korean movie missed. Jo In Sung was not great as Oh Sang Min the guy leading the theater troupe. His acting was lacking and moreover his chemistry with Son Ye Jin was not great. Because of too few scenes and interactions to make their story more believable. In this Thai version, it was superb. The two main lead of 2004 looked very good together and they had an excellent chemistry. Thanks also to the writer who took time to develop original scenes for the both of them. I liked the scene of them under the rain and the one of her running with the umbrella alone but mirroring the run they made together. The two love stories here are more balanced.

The friend of the main lead in 1968 was a good but I felt like he few screen time. He was slightly different from the original movie. A bit less funny and less tragic also. Anyway he looked a real buddy.

The female friend of the main girl in 2004 was more of a friend than in the original movies. The writer took the time to show they are very close and in the end, they saved their friendship despite having chased the same guy. This was something nice to see.

MUSIC :

The OST of the original movie contributes to its tone: classcal music / korean songs / Swing / Rock blues ... this OST is a treasury in itself. Here they used some thai version of the Korean songs and some tunes. There are also Thai songs. Overall it matched well with the movie and helped created its own identity.

REWATCH:

I will gladly rewatch this movie for its modern tone is more accessible compared to the original movie. For the orginal movie, you need to be ready to cry a lot more.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT:

This is a very good remake and it is very entertaning from start to end. For people who have not watched the korean version, I am confident that they will like it a smuch as the ones who liked the korean version when it was released. It has a cute and realistic way of telling two love stories at two periods of time. The actors look young but they were very good in their role. I highly recommend this movie as it is one of the asian movies I really enjoyed this year.

OK I was not expecting this. I have watched so many Tye or Taiwanese films and to be honest most of them are so so but this one is really good. It does have a somewhat slow pace to it but it’s is the fitting for the type of film that it is. It is a romantic drama and it has some humorous aspects to it but most of it is very soft and useful. The series revolves around a woman who is telling the story of her mothers first love. It also goes into her current situation. So you will get an opportunity to see her mothers past versus her current situation. The casted an amazing job. The acting was great the chemistry was great. The wardrobe was great. The backdrop the scenery everything was great. What I like most about this is that they pulled this stories together smoothly. No crazy in-laws, psycho ex or plotting. There were sad and sweet moments but it was good. I felt so genuine. Loved it. One of the best tawainese dramas I have ever watched. Seriously.
