외대한 나라 - 아스달의 시작
I recommend this drama who like epic fantasy or high fantasy. This might not be on the same level as lotr but still they are doing a great job! I loved this drama and this part 3 in particular.Turned out this being the 3rd part of the first season! And 2 more seasons ahead :) that’s great because the biggest fault for this drama was being too grand but too short.
This part 3 turned out to be amazing. It had many epic scenes, lots of action from the protagonists. The story is very full. They did great work with world building and showing the epic-ness :) it was quite better than the other two parts even.
Characters are very great here. There are many and it maybe hard to remember them all for some people but they are all interesting. I especially love women in this drama as they are strong and cool. And the secondary characters also are very memorable.
Music: well Ailee’s powerful voice always gives goosebumps.
There are some bad sides to this drama and it’s mostly again because of time. Some storylines and some characters disappear as soon as they appear. Before I told this would have been solved if they had more episodes but as there are more seasons ahead I can’t say that anymore. The only excuse will be that worldbuilding is hard, they wanted to create something grand and put in as much as they could. And well actually they are doing a great job at it. Like 90 percent.
I can’t wait for next season!
I need more epic-ness before they return!
I don’t usually rewatch dramas but I feel like rewatching this one.
Score is 9.5 and 0.5 is a bonus for epic scenes. So 10 :)
나 모리의 미아 너이들에게 주문을 곤다. 이 드라마를 보아라. Lol
I really like the epic way of talking :)

My Absolute best out of the three parts. Everyone was just so spirited!!!I legit found myself hailing tagon!! and then at the end hailing inaishigi!! The next season is gonna be so hot cause i find it hard to pick sides as i just love everybody. The music was alright, they still repeat the same music so......
The whole drama is actually realllllllyyy quite sloooowww and very few things were accomplished or nothing was Lol. However it's a pretty lonng story with two more seasons of 18 episodes so I get it!!
Lets give a hand to song joong ki as Saya for being so smart to connect all the dots. This guy is also the craziest character in this series but he's so lovable that I just don't care about all the evil things he does or thinks of.
And tagon is just one step ahead of everyone, this guy actually knows what he's doing(lol) I support him as king but i'd be a lot happier if he wasn't a dictator LOL
I love how the characters are ever evolving and you just can't even predict what who is going to do next. Even the newly introduced characters are awesome!!Tagon has become a whole new person. Taelha has finally opened her eyes. Tanya has actually brought her A game!!from timid to brazen. Eunseom is no longer naive...that guy is cooking up an army!
Will Taelha and Tagon still love each other deeply? Tanya has the hearts of arthdal(LOVE), Tagon has the hearts of arthdal(FEAR), Eunseom has the hearts of the ago tribe. Like who will win!!?? Igutu Vs Igutu!! What will happen when the sword, mirror and bell meet? I can't wait to see the look on saya's face.... fam!!......At this point my brain is now fried!!
I recommend this to EVERYONE from anywhere. It gives you a break from a lot of cliche stuff we all watch. It's super interesting and fun!!

Perfect 10 for the perfect heir to Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones
This drama (all 3 parts) is perfection and I'm not saying this lightly. But once in a while, stars line up and back in 2019 stars lined up and gave us Arthdal Chronicles drama that combines the best aspects of LOTR and GOT while remains its own unique thing.Everything about this drama is fabulous. World building, acting, characters, story, OST, locations, costumes, cinematography. I'm blown away so much so it's hard for me to review because words don't do it justice. It has to be experienced because it has such an incredible sense of wonder and discovery that transports the viewer.
So short version: just watch it and be amazed. Honestly, cannot give it a bigger compliment than recommending it to all lovers of epic fantasy. Go in cold and it will change your life.
Warning: Arthdal Chronicles (3 parts, 18 episodes in total) is Season 1 ONLY. It ends with events that the season built up to and it's really a perfect season ending. However, it isn't the end to the story so don't be frustrated when you get to the end of the finale. Season 2 is announced.

Amazing acting, big production, unlike any K-drama
7/24/2021What an amazing end to Season 1. The long journey of waiting for Season 2 has begun. It took me a while to finish Part 3 as it's not a binge-watching kinda show. Each episode feels like its own movie.
I am in awe of everyone's acting. From the youngest children to the most senior and veteran actors, each one of them portrays their characters so well. You believe in each of their emotions and you laugh and cry with them. The four main leads are without a doubt worthy of their praises. And I agree with many that it's Song Joong Ki's best role playing both Eunseom and Saya. They are such different characters yet SJL did such an amazing job, all that the small facial expressions and mannerisms. However, I am most impressed with Kim Ok Bin, who played Taealha. This is my first time watching her. I am in love with her character. She has such a presence on the screen that I can't take my eyes off her whenever she's there. The chemistry between Tagon and Taealha is off-the-charts. Each character is so layered and gray. You understand why they make certain decisions because of their background story, and you can't help but feel for them, even though you don't agree with their decisions.
We see equal parts of Saya and Eunseom in Part 3. I am glad because I miss Eunseom in Part 2. We saw the rise of Tagon as King, Tanya as High Priestess and Eunseom as Tribal leader. There's plenty of fighting and bloodshed in Part 2 and they are all essential to the major plot. The pacing of Part 3 is faster than Part 1, but they are still somewhat slow compared to other dramas. There are so many smaller plots that have to come together for the main storyline. If one doesn't pay attention, you might miss out on something.
I wasn't aware that there are Seasons 2 and 3. If I had known, I might not have started watching this show. I waited until all 3 parts are out before I watch Season 1. Now the long wait begins. I am not sure when the cast would be able to line up their schedules and start shooting Season 2 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With so many people involved in this big production, it might be a long while before the audience can see Eunseom and Tanya reunite. I am looking forward to that. As much as I love Saya, I ship Euseom and Tanya more :)

However, there is a huge problem with the timing of this series. They stopped everything and had us wait for two months for the third part of the first season. And now we'll have to wait for season two, as this one was finished with an open ending. Another thing that just didn't get better in this part was how confusing the story is. They have so many plots to follow and mythologies to present that it is hard to keep up.
Finally, the performances were really good and the music okay, as well as the costumes and settings.
So, overall, six and a half out of ten.

THE SYNOPSIS
Best. One of the best historical dramas. The budget, the background, the cast, the story was on to the point. This show tells us about how humans developed the quality of greediness. The class struggle. the race struggle. the mutational struggle (between Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens). The struggle to survive, the poor conditions of the slaves. The cast for this show is almost a star cast. Many known and famous actors have acted in this drama. Conclusion: I LOVE IT !!! <3. Eagerly waiting for season 2.Was this review helpful to you?
WHY YOU MUST WATCH ARTHDAL CHRONICLES!!
I cannot express in words the level at which I absolutely ADORE this show, but I will try regardless, because I have been evangelizing for this show all over every single kdrama related social media platform and have compiled a lot of good reasons to watch it so here they are.1) WORLDBUILDING: The plot and worldbuilding are absolutely incredible. As an avid reader, I rarely see worldbuilding in shows or movies that compare to a good fantasy novel, but this show has worldbuilding comparable to a Brandon Sanderson book (and that is saying something). It is most definitely a plot driven story and the plot NEVER drags. Some have said it's slow, but frankly it is quite the opposite, the tensions that arise from all the complexity going on is intense.
2) PREMISE AND PLOT: AC is is a historical/ fantasy drama set in the bronze age in an ancient kingdom called Arthdal. It begins by discussing a world where there are 2 dominant species, humans and neanthals who are in all senses more beautiful and stronger than humans are. This is such a unique premise for a kdrama because I've never seen a drama set in this time period nor have I seen a true high-fantasy kdrama yet and here swoops in Arthdal Chronicles into a realm never explored and does it soooo beautifully.
3) THE PILOT EPISODE IS GOOOOLDEN: Arthdal Chronicles probably has THE BEST pilot episode i have ever seen! I loved it so much that I legitimately thought the show could not possibly get any better after so I dropped it for 6 months and that is the BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE, because it GET's ALOT BETTER!!! If you like the premise I definitely recommend you watch the first episode and decide based on that if you want to continue the show. But I've also heard some people say that they didn't like the first episode since there is so much worldbuilding in it, and I'd just say don't worry about memorizing all the tribes and stuff and hang in there for a couple more episodes and you should see everything pick up.
4) CAST: This should probably be higher up in the list, but whatever. THE CAST IS INCREDIBLE! Song Joong Ki was brilliant in this for sooo many reasons that I can't say cause it would be a major spoiler but I legitimately think this is probably his best work (next to a Werewolf Boy cause that was a masterpiece). Kim Ji Won played her role perfectly and I adored how strong and intelligent she was. I was introduced to Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Bin through this drama, but they seriously stole the spotlight. Tagon (played by Jang Dong Gun) was so charismatic that it was almost impossible for me to hate him despite how many terrible things he did, and Tae Al-ha (played by Ok Bin) was the most bada*s women I have encountered in a drama, I hated her guts and adored her all at once and caught myself saying "Slay Queen" a little too much (especially after she actually slays some people). The rest of the cast was also so incredible but I really don't have the time to go over all of them so I'll leave it at that.
5) VINCENZO: If you're trying to get over your post-Vincenzo depression (and right into a new one lol) this IS PERFECT FOR YOU. I watched around the time that episode 3 of Vincenzo was out and I loved Song Joong Ki in it so I checked out his other dramas. A good friend of mine had recommended it a while back but I never finished it so I came back and OMG SONG JOONG KI WHY DO I KEEP FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU!!! I really don't want to say it, but AC might....just might...be better than Vincenzo??
6) DEEPER MEANING: It addresses such relevant and deep issues in humanity and civilization like human greed, the root of corrupt political institutions and tribalism, and the inevitability of capitalist institutions as a stage of the development of civilization (which is just a really complicated way for me to say that the show can be really deep if you pay enough attention to the details, it's still good if you don't though).
Overall, The cast is top notch, the setting is beautiful and the OST (Poem of Destiny by Ailee) is literally the most beautifully intense and unique drama OST out there and everything about this drama is perfect sooo ya... go watch it cause I 1000000/10 RECCOMEND!!
Also...WHERE IS MY SEASON 2!!!!!!!! The emotional trauma I am enduring waiting for this is not acceptable!!

Underrated gem.
"Arthdal Chronicles" has been on my watchlist for a very long time, and i finally decided to watch it recently. Now, i will be honest, the first few episode didn't excite me that much and i nearly dropped it after the second or third episode, but i was curious about what's going to happen next so i decided to let time do it's thing and continue watching, and i'm so happy i did.
The story is engaging, the production is of high quality, the visuals are captivating, the acting is flawless and the soundtrack is absolutely epic.
Although i did enjoy part 2 the most, i still loved all 3 parts and couldn't contain my excitement in almost every episode. It was that good.
"Arthdal Chronicles" has won the place in my heart for my number one favorite Kdrama of all time, and the only drama that could probably top it for me is season 2 lol
Personally, i think that any fantasy and historical dramas lover would enjoy watching this.
Please give this masterpiece a chance, you won't regret it.

The Concept Is Unusual In Kdrama But The Plot Was Lacking.
I was very excited before watching this drama since I had never seen a kdrama with such a concept (the timeline), however, in the end, the plot/theme about destiny and political thrill was very basic. The actors, without a doubt, delivered amazing performances, and as someone who has never been a huge fan of Song Joong Ki, I was very impressed with how effectively he handled both of his roles.
The music wasn't particularly memorable or unusual, but it was better than nothing...(I love the artist though).
Now for the plot. Half of the first part was slow but bearable because it was mostly about getting to know Arthdal, but it picked up a little in the second half before slowing down again. The second part was when the repetition became worse they would talk about the same things over and over again, about the children that would destroy the world, about Tagon, the antagonist, who didn't have thought of his own, his convoluted love life, and the random characters thrown in with little or no context Not to mention the near-impossibility of character growth.
The whole political issue was nothing out of the ordinary. To be honest, I expected politics in this drama, but it was the same old "I'm going to murder you to acquire power" mentality. No one really used their brains, except Tae Al Ha. Speaking of Al Ha, her father, his death caught me off guard; he had been portrayed as wicked throughout the drama, but right before he dies he is this ambitious guy, that wanted to save his tribe. The problem here is they could've invested more into the mindsets of each key character, which would've prevented the constant confusion.
I can't talk about each character but the overall presentation made the timeline of the story too much of a big deal that they didn't realize it was failing.
The cinematography was one of the things that disappointed me the most; they should've spent more time on the cinematographic concept as well. I wanted to witness the supposedly 'magical' situations as stunning sights at times, but that didn't happen. I wasn't going to say this, but even Hotel Del Luna had a lesser budget had stunning cinematography.
Ultimately, Arthdal Chronicles came through with a new concept but the plot still needs more work. I think a lot of people were so fascinated by the concept that they didn't pay attention to the growth of the plot.
Despite all I've said, I'm still waiting for the second season since I feel it has the potential to improve.
It has the potential to be a masterpiece, but it isn't....well, for now :)

So much unused potenial (review for all 3 parts together)
Story: The plot is actually pretty classic and could be great. A people get enslaved and a hero reaches out to safe the people he loves. A little of romance, family issues, religion and an antagonist who does not want to be evil. The story is extremely slow developing and it gets worst in part 2 and 3. There are many scenes of conversations, thinking and recalling conversations up to the point I thought: "Ok even the last person got it now". The few scenes in which actually something happened were good, either thrilling or emotional.
Cast: Obviously the cast is amazing and all of them did a great job! However, the way the characters are written cannot be compensated by amazing performances.
Characters: There are a lot of characters but only two of them undergo a character development. Almost every character stays in their line and no matter what happened they stay the way they are. There are scenes in which they have high thoughts of "I will kill..." or "This is just the beginning" but basically nothing happened. The figures are rather plain characterized and the interactions are short. Some figures and character combinations could have been interesting... even great, but they did not draw that picture to the end.
Cenementory: The drama could have been visually stunning. Obviously the budget increased while airing. In the first view episodes there were some beautiful scenes but later on not even this was given. They only have shown a view interesting or impressive places. They used fast camera movements to mask the fighting performances and used less visual elements which could have been touching.
Music: There is only a small variety of instrumental background music. Most sounds pretty much the same and didn't affect my emotions at all.
End: It is an open end obviously Netflix wanted to open a floodgate to catch audience and save their future incomeence and save their futur income
