Mrs Ko, Tung Kwok Hing (Rebecca Chan) adopted an orphan and claimed he was Ko Yi Ho (Raymond Wong), the illegitimate child that her husband Ko Siu Tong (Samuel Kwok) had been searching for many years. Tong believed Ho was more suitable than his oldest son Ko Yi Tai (Joel Chan) to be his successor, which later led Mrs. Ko's discontent. Eventually Ho was kicked out of the family, leaving him homeless. Living out alone, Ho got a taste of the bitterness in life and was determined to return home and take revenge on his adopted family under a different name Tung Bun Sin. Under his new identity, he vowed to give them a taste of losing their loved ones. Meanwhile he runs into the naive, trusting Tsui Sum (Niki Chow), who had just taken over her family business. Seeing an opportunity, Ho deceives Tsui Sum of her family business and all her familys' money in order to get closer to the Ko family. However, old ties, secrets and memories of a childhood sweetheart come back to haunt him, and Ho eventually embarks on a road that threatens the lives of all he holds dear, and the life of the only woman he's ever loved. Let's start this off by saying that this drama took me on a roller-coster ride that I didn't except to be on.
1. The story
So... the plot of this drama was clique. The whole childhood friends falling in love, but... I love dramas like that. It's simplistic in the way that we know who will end up together, and there's less frustration with the second lead syndrome deal.
Aside from those things, the complications get a little cringe worthy because of the situations that come up that could have been avoided... but that's how dramas are, so I can't really complain.

2. The acting/cast
Nikki and Raymond seemed like an unlikely match, which kinda proved to be true because of the more intimate scenes were not smooth like butter. It looked slightly awkward for them to be anything more than friends to be honest. I feel like Nikki was acceptable in playing her part at work, but not as a lover. Raymond is Raymond, so you know he did a nice job portraying the character of bad-guy with a heartbreaking backstory.

3. The music
I mean, I enjoyed it.

4. Rewatch value
I would maybe rewatch it... but most likely not just because this is one of those dramas that is good enough to watch just once. It leaves a deeper impression.

5. Overall
It was a tear-jerking drama, yes, so if you want a drama to get you all in the feels and sobs then this is the one.

I find myself returning to this favorite drama whenever I feel like I want to watch a no-brainer Chinese period drama. I, in particular, like the period this story takes place. The actors, along with the props and costuming is just really above the top. If you watch enough TVB dramas, you know this was filmed on their usual set, but the producers did a great job on the details.

I enjoyed the drama and the themes of love, revenge, deceit, and the overall emotional undertake of the story. Actors Raymond Wong and Niki Chow did a great job portraying their broken characters. Would highly recommend if you want a worthy Chnese drama to check out.
