I'm starting to think it was a little of both. Queen InHyun was an amazing, sweeping depiction of a romance that was born despite a 300 year age gap (I'm starting to wonder if this makes Boong-Do a pedobear like a certain sparkling vampire who must not be named...) and was tested to the limits. This story also had a very interesting concept in comparison to other dramas; that you can control your own fate and not the other way around. That was a refreshing change.
I liked the fact that the writers didn't spend so much time in the denial phase of time travel, as in the writers didn't make it so that the time-traveler refused to accept the fact that he moved through time and instead was dreaming, unconscious, or being tricked by his friends.
Since I cannot watch anything if the quality is bad, or the camerawork is terrible, or if the aesthetics are bad. That being said, the drama would have gotten a seven from me even if the story got run over by a truck. The cinematography here was gorgeous. I loved how the director used lighting and angles to his advantage to convey the story better than just normal full face shots.
As for the music, I honestly can't remember anything about it.
The actors had great chemistry, and you could see them falling in love right in front of your eyes. That was a different experience than what I was used to, but it helped cement my investment in this drama. I was literally glued to my computer the whole time so that i could figure out if they got together or not at the end.
I'm not a huge fan of rewatching things, but for the cuteness alone, I'll probably flip through it when I'm bored. There were a ton of couple scenes in this, so I was glad I didn't have to wait five billion episodes (like other dramas) for the leads to get together.
Overall, it was a nice story and the best of the time traveling dramas of 2012, but I felt like parts of it could have been better. This is a romance drama, and there was little plot other than that. I felt like they could have added a bigger story arc to make it more interesting, but then the story would have been too cramped. Other than that, it was a nice enough story.

Firstly, the story line. Now, after rewatching it, I can say, there are a few flaws. But I really enjoyed the way they used time-travel. The idea of the talisman was pretty much original and, surprinsgly, quite believable. I also liked the fact that the past could influence the future. Twists were enjoyable, unexpected, and made me tremble.
But honestly, the key point of this drama is definitely the romance. Waaw... AWESOME. Such a chemistry, my little heart couldn't handle it. I fell for it. Completely. From the beginning to the end. It made me cry, smile from ear to ear. Oh yeah, I smiled so much. You see, for once in awhile, everything is simple. That was sooo great ! She loves him. He loves her. No exasperating dilemmas, nor endless tears. Surely, I love Korean Dramas, but I get sick sometimes of all the... well, all the drama. Queen In Hyun's Man... The romance is just adorable. And the kisses, oh my queen, best kisses ever. Believe me, you'll fall completely for the story of this two beautiful souls that not even the gap of time could separate.
And did you know ? The actors are actually dating in real life. I usually really hate all the gossip around a drama, but here, it just made me melt.
The actors, then. I have a crush on Yoo In Na. For the first time, I prefer the girl. She's amazingly beautiful, and makes her character extremely lovable. But I also loved Ji Hyun Woo as Kim Boong Do. The perfect man. Totally. Handsome, smart, funny in his own way, everything, everything is perfect about him. They are great actors, I truly think they are. And keep an eye on Yoo In Na.
The others characters, even so I didn't talk much about them, are also very good. I especially liked the "rival", Kim Jin woo as Hang Dong Min. He was funny, and he managed the feat to never be really annoying. I give him a total ten. The manager was a great character as well. Funny, caring and straightforward.
I still have a lot to say but I'll end up here this long review. Queen In Hyun's Man is a must-watch. I was reluctant at first, and found myself totally grasped at the end of the first episode. Me, who never, absolutely never rewatch a drama, I already watched this one twice.
You like romance ? You like to smile and you're sick of complicated relationships ? You should watch this. This beautiful ovni.

This drama is a highly recommended, there is some historical theme and modern theme combined. You may think that this drama is like rooftop prince, to an extend it is BUT only on the time travel thing and everything else, i repeat everything else is different.
I thought the story was great, i dont know how the couple will end up together nor what the ending will be. But the content and plot of this drama was well done! You will find yourself loving the main characters, they are such lovable characters. Their on screen moments together was wonderful.
conclusion, if you like bubbly, cheerful female main character and handsome, smart, charming male lead. With an interesting plot, and funny scenes that makes you want to laugh out loud. This drama is for you! ^.^
Hope this helped.

A bit dated but cute nonetheless
I love time travel stories so I was incredibly excited for this one. I might have given it a higher rating if I had watched this as one of my first dramas. Unfortunatelly having some other material to compare this one to I have to say more than a time travelling story this is a cute romance and some time travel shennanigans happening in the middle, the time travel plot is not very well constructed, as the rules change for plot convenience, so you have to suspend your disbelief a little. That being said the leads own the screen. They are both so incredibly adorable and lovable. They're both the best part of the drama and I had a blast rooting for them. The same unfortunatelly cannot be said about the rest of the cast. The side characters from the present are an inconvenience at best and an annoyance at worst. I especially couldn't stand the female manager and the ex boyfriend and both of their selfishness and toxicity. I think I can excuse the exboyfriend character because he's written for the specific purpose of being a foil to ML and he is supposed to be an ass. The female manager best friend on the other hand? She's a terrible friend, who is whinning most of the time and only cares about FL staying away from scandals rather than her friend's happiness. Every time she was on screen I had to fast forward so I didn't have to deal with her.
The Joseon part of the story is the better world from both of these, with that storyline being more interesting and compelling than the weird present times. Though there are times when the present is exciting like the airplane scene, there are little to no consequences for the present world as things get constantly fixed by time travel magic and everyone forgets about ML and any laws he may have broken.
The characters from the Joseon period are just much more interesting and the stakes over there are real life and death situations. I enjoyed that part of the story a lot actually.
One thing I have to say is that the visuals for this one are a bit jarring, with the weird editing, saturation of some parts going over the roof sometimes it's hard to make out what's happening on the screen. But I have to let this go because this is an older show and I do remember the aesthetic from the 2010s.
All in all the drama is not entirely grounded. There are some genuinly interesting parts that I enjoyed and the two leads, along with the Joseon people steal the show. Overall a decent watch without being some masterpiece. Just a fun rom rom without much logic going on in general. But still a satisfying ending, so it was ok overall.

The drama didn't peak my interest until episode 5 and soon after I was tempted to drop it. But then it got interesting again around episode 12 and then I was fully captivated by episode 14. 40 minutes into the last episode and I'm on the verge of tears. Hint: the use of the tie
And then it took a detour back to safety and I was disappointed. Thanks Sony Ericsson.
Despite that, this drama has a balance of comedy, romance, and heartbreak. Most of its characters are lovable (except Han Dong Min - so annoying and the acting seemed overdone). I related the most to Jo Soo Kyung. Loved her style! I found the character Yun Wool very interesting and sincere - wish she had more show time than Han Dong Min.
Overall, despite not meeting my expectations, this drama is still enjoyable and I'm glad I finally watched it.

An unusual encounter, a love that forms within a crack in time...
This is a very enjoyable drama about a modern woman who's an actress who meets a time travelling Joseon scholar, they fall in love and have to navigate the intricacies of his time travel as well as all the drama that takes place back in the Joseon time period. This show packs quite an emotional punch, with one of the best on screen couples I've seen in any Kdrama (I've read reports that Yoo In Na and Ji Hyun Woo dated in real life after the show aired) this doesn't surprise me because the chemistry between these two sizzles. In addition to the sizzling chemistry let me also just say the character of Kim Boong Do may be one of the best Kdrama leading men ever written and I mean if there's a handful of best ever heroes then he's definitely on that list. he's genuine, considered, intelligent, dignified, gallant, cute, funny and mature - he's the full package.
The show is well written except for a few niggling leaps of logic which are easily ignored in my opinion. Cinematography is good, the world building is also very vibrant and high quality.
I enjoy this drama and have just watched it a second time after watching it two years ago. The resolution to the conundrum in this story was satisfying and a testament to the overall theme of remembering a true love.
The music is wonderful.
Overall 8.5 out of 10. Definitely give this show a shot, you won't regret it.

Fans of this drama will not want to read my review. If I were to summarise it in one word, it's "overrated".Having watched Rooftop Prince before this, I was very eager to watch this show especially after seeing that it has an even higher rating than Rooftop Prince, which to me is one of the best drama I ever watched this year. But when you have high hope like this, I guess you get disappointed more easily.
Let's talk about the good point of this drama first - the excellent chemistry between the two leads. Yes, this is what kept me going and why this drama does not score even lower in my overall rating. Their chemistry were so good that if anyone has told me that they are real-life lovers during the show, I would have believed it 100% (yes, and it turns out that they are!). If you want a show with sweet romance, this is really an excellent show!
Now onto the bad point - the plot! I felt the starting was a bit messy and confusing especially the josen period, but that is still tolerable, what is not quite tolerable is the inconsistency of the time-travel element. At first, it was very clear how the time travel could be activated, however midway through the show, it seems that some instances of the time-travel does not seems quite consistent, there was a particular part in the show which makes me felt like a 3 yrs old child, i.e. being cheated in the most illogical fashion. (I shall not say which part it is due to spoiler)
Basically, if you just want pure heart-warming romance, this is the show for you, but please do not apply any rational thinking while watching the show, just follow the flow and you will be happier. I mean, even though the concept of time travel is already irrational in the first place, but if you were to compare for the sake of comparison, in Rooftop Prince, you have a much more believable and convincing plot to the time-travelling irrationality.

This drama has more plotholes than a swiss cheese. It started okay, it had potential but as episodes progressed you couldn't keep up with the deus ex machina tricks, how time jumping really works and it was getting confusing as heck.
However, if you like romance wrapped up in a cute, fluffy, teddybear way then you will find plenty of moments in it. That's cool, I do like my occasional fluffy dose but if it doesn't have a proper story and a foundation to keep up with good characterization I get bored. Easily.
I wasn't really impressed and the reason I give it a 6.5 and not lower is because the main couple truly had chemistry. But other than this, yeah not much.

Story: the time travelling theme is not so original actually.. there's plenty of dramas with this theme. I haven't watched Rooftop Prince, but some people seems to compared these two (and from the synopsis that I read, I think it's kinda similiar).. But the flow of QIHM's story, it really carried me out.. I didn't see anything was dragged (except maybe for the last 2 episodes).. Everything was on the right line.. The story was more likely romantic than comedic (which I loved)..
Acting/Cast: DEFINITELY, drama with the best chemistry within the main lead.. Yoo In Na & Ji Hyun Woo are reaaaaallllyyyy good.. Their chemistry was naturally built, and when I read that they dated for real, I am reaaalllyyy happy.. I think most of you agree, that they looks really good together.. The supporting casts are perfect.. They added plenty of comedy here and there (especially the 2012 line).. LOL..
Music: They didn't released much soundtrack, but all of them are pretty good, especially for building the atmosphere..
Rewatch Value: I usually didn't rewatch my drama, but I think I would-some day in the future-rewatch this again.. And much of you maybe would rewatch this :)
Overall, again, this is one of the best romantic fantasy I've ever watched.. I adore especially the chemistry between the lead.. Their romance also pleasant to watch and makes me goes "Awww...".. One of the best romance of the year :)

Reason I watched: The kiss scenes, lol.
Story: Pretty different from Rooftop Prince, the only similarity was the time travel. I believe that this is as original as a time travelling plot can get. What I loved about it is that, to a certain extent, he could control whether or not he was in the past or the present. It doesn’t get annoying with the constant travelling back and forth (like it did in Operation Proposal). This plot was so well thought out and same with the characters. I don't know what else I can say without ruining the drama. Words aren't enough to explain how good this plot was, you'll just have to see for yourself.
Acting/Cast: Wow. Great cast. Great acting. You can't deny the chemistry between the two leads. Nothing more I can say.
Music: Fit in with the mood but nothing too memorable.
Rewatch value: I hardly ever re-watch dramas and this doesn't seem like it will be good the second time around. Seems like I've gotten everything the first time.
Overall: This drama was so cute, so hilarious, so heartbreaking, just an emotional roller coaster ride. It's well worth your time.
