Cute historical romance
I initially started this cause I saw a clip of the main leads first meeting and was intrigued. I haven’t watched any historical cdramas before so this was my first and I throughly enjoyed it! The plot wasn’t too invested into politics and focused on romance so it wasn’t too heavy but also it wasn’t super light so it was a perfect balance in my opinion. Main girl did get irrational at times but it was easy to gloss over and made her character more realistic rather than just perfect. I adored the main guy so much his transition from a cold general to a man who cared deeply for his wife was so so cute and even after the main couple got together their chemistry was still great! I loved the little special scenes they added at the end of every episode and was so pleasantly surprised that the last one was a take on them meeting in modern day! Caesar wu was so cute and acted well as well as the rest of the cast. At first I really didn’t know what to think of the emperor, however, he turned out to be a great character and I loved his character arc. Also the ninth prince’s son becoming emperor alongside the girl who saved him was so cute and she truly made a good empress so I was super pleased with that. The background music was also spectacular and fit the moods so well so applause to the music team as well :) Overall, this was a cute historical drama that’s not too long and not too political heavy that you can easily get into!Was this review helpful to you?
Very sappy sweet drama
So happy to see the actor I first saw in Netflix’s revamped Meteor Garden get his own role. I think his charm was a lot more apparent in this role. The lead couple were very cute together and I was happy their romance burned strong from very early on in the drama. One thing I did not care for was how syrupy sweet it was. Like sometimes to the point of being unbearable. Maybe I like angsty romance too much but idk it was just very cutesy and yeah that’s why I’m here but make it more organic please. First time see the female lead, she was very pretty and funny and I think she held her own well. Someone is like to see in their own drama is the girl who played ninth princess. The ML and FL's chemistry is a bomb!
Though the story has too many changes from the novel, and I got confused at times, but the flow is good and not boring. When it comes to acting, the leads are good but lacking in emotional scenes. But I can see their potential as an actor and actress. I hope they will have another drama together. Their romantic and kissing scences however are so good that I always rewatch clips of them being lovey dovey. It's my daily dose of happiness. XD And lastly, the OST got me LSS (Last Song Syndrome) for the past days.P.S.
Their costumes are very aesthetically pleasing! <3

Unexpectedly good
This is one of those dramas that I didn't intend to watch but ended up watching because I couldn't find anything else. This turned out to be my liking. It has a simple story, and the villains were not over the top bad (maybe one sister was). I would' ve preferred to see a real love triangle (like to see the ML getting jealous more), but there was only a short lived one with the childhood friend.This is a good one to try if you just want a relaxing, happy ending historical romance to watch. I thought it would be too childish based on the ML being in a previous drama that I did not like. But his acting was good and mature in this one.

This is a good romantic comedy set within a historical background. The drama is light on content and, although there’s some push and pull on the developing romantic relation between the leading couple, their love is strong, honest, and protective; especially from the leading male towards his wife which maintain her strong-minded, stubborn, and, too many times, troublesome decision making. If the writers would have decided to stop her flip-flop from a straightforward and trusting wife to an impulsive spoiled brat that only wants to get her way in spite of the heavy consequences that her husband had to counterstrike continuously, this drama would have been a great romantic comedy since the leading couple has a lovely and strong chemistry. The supporting cast provided some good comedic tones to the drama that lightened the tone and storyline. The drama has some plot holes and editing issues (how did they get out of the sinking sand?) And to top it all, after the happy ending, there is a senseless bonus scene that shifts the leading couple to modern times. Still, taking everything into account, the drama is entertaining! Sweetness overload. ??
You must watch this drama. I got a General's Lady syndrome for a week now. ?Caesar Wu and Tang Min have a great chemistry. As if it is their real identity. You will fall in love with the couple. What I love about this drama is that it is a happy ending. And I don't like complicated kind of story so for me if you want a drama that is a light hearted then it is for you.
You can't help fall inlove with Chu Xiuming. He got the moves. Where can I find someone like him? lol.
I am really glad that I found this c-drama in my YouTube timeline. This is the first drama that I was really hoping that the two main lead were a real couple. It's because it is too good to be true. They really have a good chemistry. I was hoping and looking forward for another team up with this two leads. I can't get enough with them.
As of this moment I keep watching this drama over and over again. I don't have a heart to watch another drama. It's because I keep comparing other dramas with this. I really got a Chu Xiuming and Chen Jin Syndrome.
Please watch this drama guys you won't regret it especially if you are a kind of a hopeless romantic person like me then it is for you.

Story was crazy long, some scenes we can do without. ML was a straight laced general who fell in love with the FL from an arranged marriage. She was a strong willed daughter with a strong sense of responsibility with her family and friends.ML and FL lead a life of adventures and struggles, made new friends and settled a lot of conflicts. Lots of subplots, some enjoyable and some forgettable. A bit unrealistic, as everyone has happy ending though. Rewatch value is ok, if you have a lot of time.

Strong and Handsome ML ..... Cute and Lovable FL
I really enjoyed this drama... way more than I thought I would.I loved the ML and FL together. They had great chemistry and the acting was superb.
I also liked the fact that everyone ended up with someone and there were no jealous second leads trying to split up the main couple.
The drama progressed quite quickly too. The main leads got together quite quickly. The quarrels they had between them was mostly caused by misunderstandings and not by outside influences. What really ticked me off was the fact Jin's sisters who had bullied her throughout the entire series didn't get their just reward. They had too much of a happy ending... after the SHIT they put the entire family through, they should have gotten some kinda punishment.
Although I really enjoyed this drama, I honestly wouldn't watch it again. There wasn't any one thing that would make me come back again.

A good drama for your 2020
Out of all the dramas I have watched in 2020, this one pleases me. Here is why.The FL is very strong and playful. Personally, I don't like FLs that are weak and basically are a "damsel in distress." She is Shen Jin is a badass and she just makes viewers blow away by her wits.
The ML is intimidating on the outside but loving and cute on the inside. That is also another trait that I like for MLs. Chu Xiuming's looks makes every girl fall in love and overall the cast is great.
One thing I didn't like about this drama was the storyline. In the beginning it was interesting but as the story progressed, I kind of got bored and laid it off for a few weeks. Next time, I would really look forward to some action. You know, make it spicyyyy.
To sum up, I loved the drama. The characters were so cute and it definitely played a positive role in my 2020.

Must Watch!!
I think this is one of the best dramas I have watched when it comes to Romance! The romance in this drama between Caesar Wu and Tang Min ( The male lead and The female lead) is soo GOOD. The female lead is rather playful and at the same time loving. The male lead is aggressive in nature but a very honest, kind , sensitive man. These two together brings the story to another level!! And also if you are an " I need a good kissing scene" person, YOU ARE GOOD TO GO! There is also a pinch of comedy in this drama which makes you laugh ones in a while.Overall ,the actors in the drama did a good job. I really appreciate their acting skills. With all that being said, there is something I don't feel right, which is the STORYLINE! It 's actually good at the beginning , But the end was not good to me. But if you are a nice imaginer the ending would be good for you. However this drama gave me chills and all in all it was a good story!
Oh and also I love the OST of General's Lady!! It still rings in my head even though I've watched it for sometime now. Btw you can watch this drama on YouTube without any problem and with English sub. So Please enjoy watching! I think you must watch this drama at least ONCE!!

Don't think too much about it and enjoy the drama for what it is
So... let me start off by saying that I did do a lot of skipping through this drama. Its your typical contract marriage romcom, without the added headache that usually comes with it. Admittedly there's some major plot holes but if you just go with it you will thoroughly enjoy the ride.The drama starts off with the typical will-they-won't-they push and pull, but once the pair gets together they are solid. Never once was i afraid something was going to keep them apart. The drama quickly became a more slice of life drama. What I appreciated most was that the couple always had each other's backs. They worked together to set wrongs right. They were each other's ride or die. I truly believed they loved each other. However that's probably more attributed to the two leads having great chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the couple's unwavering trust in each other; so much so that they are always honest with each other. I find it so frustrating when couples allow misunderstandings to occur because they don't say how they truly feel. Not this couple tho! They are so cute together.
But of course every historical drama always has to have a political subplot (thats the part i skipped through). We've seen it, we know how it will end, don't need to watch it again.
As I've said, the main couple has amazing chemistry. For newbies I thought Tang Min and Caesar did great in their roles. I really don't think for the simplicity of the drama that the acting could have been done better.

Bored Near the End…
At first I thought this was a pretty nice drama; the storyline being the OG “contract marriage”, and the funny/clumsy character of Shen Jin. However, as I got near the end, the plot began to feel boring to me as the “climax” of the drama had mostly passed. Shen Jin opened her fabric shop, and Chu Xiuming defeated his enemies in court. After that, I felt that the rest of the drama wasn’t really worth watching anymore, and I had to force myself to finish “General’s Lady”. However, I think that with some changes in the plot and script, the end of the drama could’ve been more interesting. I still recommend this drama if you’re looking for a humorous yet utterly romantic historical drama.Was this review helpful to you?
