The plot is well written, problems and angst are not overdrawn and resolved at a satisfying rate. The leads have great chemistry and their love story doesn’t take a long time to develop (surprise in ep3) but is still believable. The writter and director was also very generous on the kiss scenes (>.<). The romantic scenes may not be as steamy as in Eternal Love but it’s still as sweet as it can get.
For everybody looking for fantasy wuxia series, watch this as this has probably THE BEST HAPPY ENDING you can hope for.

Good drama! Soooo romantic, so many kiss scenes so much love! But i want the second male lead and the first female lead to do a drama! I have terrible second lead syndrom with this drama! I really would like them together:) With the same kinds of kiss scenes and all! This review pertains to both seasons. Its a good drama its so cute and light ive been watching so many darker dramas like legend of fuyao, seige in fog, legend of qin, the empress of china, and etc that i needed something light to watch! Expected more of it
This drama is short and okay. It gave me similar vibes as I'm a Pet at Dali Temple because both female leads turn into a cat and go on a search for magical jade pieces. The story is good but I wonder why the scriptwriters found it necessary to have a character like Chu Chu.
Her background might be interesting in the future but in the first season she's just an annoyance.
Chu's the stereotype of a female who can't accept that the guy is not returning her love and acts immature and sulky every time she gets turned down. One might think that being rejected multiple times would finally make it go "click" in that nice head of hers but no, she just keeps humiliating herself and throwing away her pride by chasing the male like she's in heat. I mean no offense just that I prefer female characters who are strong and independent, but she's everything but that and I can't identify with this.
The female lead is better but the constant misunderstandings and lack of honest communication or replying at all (isn't it great when party 1 asks for an explanation before jumping to conclusions and party 2 just stubbornly stays silent and let the misunderstanding even arise in the first place?) is frustrating.
I admit the way they make up is cute but I think a bit less "hot then cold and yes then no" would do the drama good.
Acting is good, maybe a tiny bit overacted at some parts but overall okay and bearable.
I like the cast and chemistry that you can see by the little extra scenes after each episode.
The music fits the drama and is nice. Not a symphonic masterpiece of art but right for the drama with an upbeat tune in the opening for example.
Rewatch value is pretty low because I find nothing that would make me interested enough to go for a rewatch. Watching this once is enough for me. Overall I think the drama is okay, not comparable to high budget productions but doing good enough for a drama to introduce actors and make audience interesting in watching more of them. I'll watch season 2 and see if the story and character develop.

Review for Season 1 & 2
This drama is a fantasy, wuxia romance. It is cute, silly, light hearted, and entertaining. The leading couple has good chemistry and, once they realized that they liked each other, they remained steadfast in their pursuit of happiness. Although their intimate moments could’ve been better, there are many cute and nice romantic scenes. The drama has the usual travel back in time tropes that are well worked into the drama. The two male leads have a great frenemy relationship that it’s also well developed throughout the drama. This drama offers a light and nice entertainment. Enjoy it!Was this review helpful to you?
Light hearted feel good romcom
When I first started this drama it was silly and way too unrealistic. And the story had no depth either. Then both the male lead and the second male lead fall head over heels in love with the female lead very quickly for no reason when they hardly even know her. I thought I wasn’t going to like this drama very much. Boy was I wrong. It wasn’t perfect, but it ended up being awfully cute and funny.Storyline:
If you stick with it past the first few episodes the story gains some strength and gets deeper and more interesting. It ends up that there’s a reason both men like the female lead so intensely and so quickly. There are hidden pasts, amnesia, political intrigue, hidden identities, and lots of great comedy. It does get a bit confusing on the four clans and their past and present issues with one another. But overall I enjoyed the uniqueness of the storyline.
Set design, costumes & CGI:
The sets were very elaborate and realistic. And the costumes were quite elegant and attractive. It looked like they had a generous budget for this drama. There were beautiful gardens, impressive homes, lovely rivers, and quaint old villages to enjoy throughout the drama. The CGI was okay but nothing amazing. They chose an obese, unattractive, stubby legged animated cat instead of a real one and it was a bad choice. Many compare it to Garfield but I don’t agree because even though Garfield is chubby he’s super cute. This cat just wasn’t attractive at all. The way he stood up to walk or run was just weird and not catlike at all. And since the cat was a big part of the drama it did detract from the overall experience.
The romance:
The romance is what really shines in this drama. The lead couple have great chemistry. There’s lots of kisses, cuddles, hand holding, and skinship. And even though there are some misunderstandings, nothing drags out for too long. The romance is a bit cheesy sometimes but I still found it touching.
My verdict:
This isn’t for everyone. It’s a lighthearted feel good romcom that doesn’t take itself too seriously. So if you’re looking for something with some depth or something realistic then this isn’t the drama for you. Yes it does get deeper as it goes on with some angst and sadness. But it still has a very silly funny lighthearted feel to it. And the romance is a bit cheesy. But I still found myself enjoying it and looking forward to the next episode. If they had chosen a better cat, if the romance wasn’t quite so cheesy, and if there wasn’t a disappointing 10 year time jump, then it would have been perfect. But it’s still a cute drama worth watching.

XD a fun watch
Hey, you should watch this because it's so funny and cute! The story is interesting in it's own way, but also a little mixed up. Everyone's acting was on point, just trying to get a feel for the type of person the main character is-is a little difficult because of what he pretending to be in the beginning compared to later mixed, emotional & adorably whinny/pouty prince. Though I wonder if they could have gotten a real cat to play the part... the animated is cute in it's own way. I'm looking forward to season 2 :)Was this review helpful to you?

Light, fluffy, short, and cute
Short, cute, and mindless...just what I was looking for. This little drama is a breeze to watch. The main reason I was able to keep going with this drama, despite the average acting and storyline, is because of the cute chemistry between the leads. They fall head over heels pretty quickly, but it somehow was believable Lots of flirting and cute jealousy moments, not to mention many kisses and pecks(although the kisses are a bit too PG).The two leads act so cute with each other. Normally that is not my thing. Normally too many childish antics will make me roll my eyes and sometimes want to vomit, but here, I oddly found it really cute. I'm going to have to attribute that to the actors themselves. They somehow made me smile instead of gag. Kudos, leads, Kudos,
I will say though, you will have to overlook some things like the acting not being the greatest if it calls for any kind of intense emotion, the story being just kind of Eh, and the badly animated cat character which took some getting used to, but in the end, what can I say, it's cute scurrying waddle grew on me.
I should warn though that the ending is not really an ending as it's leads into S2. IMO, they should have wrapped everything up in S1. S2 was a bit too ridiculous for me, so I didn't really enjoy S2.
