underrated drama, though there was a hype about this drama in taiwan.

i didn't want to watch at first because the main lead is old and i didn't really like ethan. but after watching the first episode i couldn't stop watching it. the story is not boring at all and focuses not just on the happenings but also on the people's feelings. i can finally enjoy watching the main role - as a reporter - trying to get the truth from famous people and confront them - as a strong-willed and fair woman. ethan is just like her back-up and i really liked it. the characters flew with the story instead of the story going with the characters. i hate it when a drama contains a actually nice plot but it ended up focusing on the characters and not on the interesting story anymore. i laughed, smiled and cried while watching the whole drama.
and the OST is jus perfect.

My Queen surprised me with how good it was. I almost quit no less than three times during the first episode because it was too over the top with the silliness/slapstick, but I pushed through. I was hooked by the end of episode 2. The slapstick left and the goofy remained, which made me laugh out loud several times throughout the series.

The chemistry between the leads was what really sold me on this show. Those two had sparks for days. I enjoyed how they remained the focus of the series and, although there were many other characters, we never forgot the show was about the central pair.

The rest of the cast was a nice comedic addition and the range of the subplots and mysteries were intriguing enough to keep me invested in the story.

The series did drag a bit in the final few hours and my tear ducts were drained, but it was a solid ending.
If you get through the first two episodes and you're smiling at that point, then you'll really enjoy this drama.

NOTE: on netflix you get a short and cute music vid at the end of each episode (34 eps at approx 43 mins each) and on Hulu/DramaFever you get the cute intro and song at the start of each episode (21 eps).

This wasn’t a Taiwanese drama that was on my radar just because im not usually into older woman/ younger man romances. I also wasn’t familiar with the leads so I didn’t think it was something I needed to watch. However, it was added to Dramafever and I was curious so I decided to give the first episode a try….

Story: So I have mixed feelings about it. The first 9 episodes were perfection in that I was eating up each episode because they were intense, funny, and unexpectedly addictive. I enjoyed watching the leads who were so different having to work together and solve the news cases. Then episode 10 happened and the writers changed the direction and added the ex boyfriend character into the mix. The show although well written (I never got bored), it became frustrating to watch, even making me have thoughts of dropping it(I wasn’t enjoying the drama anymore). I decided to stick it out because the leads had an amazing chemistry and I wanted to see them together again and by ep 19 I started to love this drama again. I really liked the ending cause it was fun and reminded me of the tone of the beginning episodes.

Acting/Cast: Like I said, I had never seen the main actors before so I didn’t expect much from them but from the first episode I felt their sizzling chemistry so I became interested in how they would be able to portray their characters. They did an awesome job of making me become attached to their characters and rooting for their relationship. The supporting cast did a good job with their characters but a lot of the characters were overacted/annoying.

Music: I liked the OST for this drama but not enough to give it a listen outside of watching.

Rewatch: Because I liked the characters in this, I would give it a second watch but not for a while cause it was frustrating to watch for almost half of the time.

Overall, the characters and the ending make My Queen a Taiwanese drama that is worth watching.

I didn't like this drama. Sure at first it starts off awesome and funny, but by the 15th episode you just want to stop watching. I seriously fast forwarded through the end of this drama, not because of the lack of subs but the lack of content. The concept is that a older woman falls in love with a younger man but cannot get over her age differences with him. She also plays around with getting back with her ex- but cannot let go of the younger guy even though she said she cant be with him. The main idea is that the character played by Cheryl is way more vulnerable than she appears to be, and is afraid of what society may say about her relationship. I did like that it was funny, with many funny moments- the people that Shan wu shang worked with were hilarious. You will see a lot of familiar Taiwanese drama faces, so be ready for "she was in..." or "he was in...". If you can watch it on Viki.com, the user comments make the drama even more hilarious. Loved James Wen, although his reasoning sucked I blame that on the writers not the beautiful actor. I didn't like the over-acting, ethan was completely afflicted with it. I didn't like the big deal they made about her being 35, like she had one foot in death. I also didn't like how long it took for them to develop one idea, like I mentioned they drag it into the ground and milk the concept dry. Watch this drama for cute guys and if you have time.

Wow! I started watching this because of the Witch's Love a K Drama that I heard was going to be a remake. I wanted to see the original before the remake, and I'm so glad I did. This was just excellent! There was nothing original about the storyline, but it demonstrated that even familiar tropes can have a powerful impact when well executed.

If I were to list the top 10 things I liked about this Drama, the first eight would read 1. Ethan/Cheryl 2.Ethan/Cheryl 3.Ethan/Cheryl 4.Ethan/Cheryl 5.Ethan/Cheryl 6.Ethan/Cheryl 7.Ethan/Cheryl 8.Ethan/Cheryl

Their chemistry was superb and totally sold the very familiar storyline. I feel that the Drama was one episode too long, and would have been even closer to getting a ten if it had only been 20 episodes, but the way the final episode moved me was testament to how well the leads made me REALLY care about their characters. In that first 20 minutes of the final episode I was crying so much and so loudly I woke my wife sleeping in the next room, EVEN THOUGH I was certain it was not going to end badly for them. That twenty minutes was a cliché but it was executed with such conviction by actors who'd made sure their characters were so real that I quite literally couldn't help myself from being devastated at what I was watching.

The other two points in my top ten would go to the music. I am totally unmusical and have zero Chinese - I couldn't tell MSM from Hokkien if there were flashing neon signs labelling each one, but I simply loved the music in this Drama. Every song seemed to fit the mood, and I actively looked forward to hearing the familiar songs as the Drama progressed.

My original goal in watching this was to be able to compare Witch's Love when it came out. As I write this, Witch's Love hasn't started, but already I doubt that it can come close to the near-perfection of the sweet, touching gem. Sweet and bittersweet, happy and sad, joy and despair, all were so well balanced that even though the destination may have been predictable, the ride was exhilarating and touching. I will DEFINITELY be watching this again, probably more than once.

I enjoyed this drama. The acting was very good, and the writing was funny. The chemistry was amazing and their are many scenes that are incredibly sexy without being overdone. However, My Queen would have benefited from being shorter. Towards the later half their are episodes the two main characters don't even appear in together, and the angst keeping the two apart seems contrived. That said, I completely recommend it. Just don't feel guilty about fast forwarding a bit during the later episodes.

I was tempted to rip this show a new one after watching episode 33, which was at best terrible and at worst consistent -- consistently terrible. The writers must have been dropping acid when they wrote that episode. I mean, that was a real gamble. In the ending scene of the episode in question, I found myself unable to stop laughing, though I'm sure it was supposed to have a dramatic effect. However, I decided not to unleash my venom after watching the final episode. I was very satisfied with the ending and I found all the characters very likable.

Pretty much a by-the-numbers romance with capable leads. The main conflict here is the age difference/stage of life for the romantic leads. Is that really worth 34 episodes of heartache? Meh. I enjoyed the capable leads, but the story had all kinds of artificial-feeling conflicts to fill the time.

It’s watchable and the comedy isn’t so broad that women are shrieking constantly (always a plus), Overall I wasn’t engaged enough with with story to get emotionally invested so it’s not one that I will probably watch again..

(Netflix has this at 34 episodes)

Four actors - female lead, male lead, former boyfriend, and his assistant are all worth watching. Their acting is solid and sincere. I found the rest of the actors largely overdone, especially the female lead's mother -- an obnoxious motormouth. She was bad enough that I turned off the sound and just read the subtitles when she came into a scene. I am going to be magnanimous and assume that most of the supporting actors were told to act like dull-witted stereotypes and that they did their best to fulfill those instructions.

The story line was above average for the first 10-15 episodes, then it lost focus until the last two episodes. Rather than being outright bad during the middle episodes, situations and dialog became somewhat predictable and repetitious. There were some very good moments that included realistic friends for each main actor, with honest, believable dialogue, and several conversations that keep it from failing the Bechdel test. Definitely overkill on the flashbacks, though. I would rewatch this with a friend, rather than rewatching it alone.

this would have been one of my favorites if not for the ending. i can see why some might like that she strung him along about getting married, but i just didnt get it. he totally committed to her, she accepted that they should be together, but then they dont get married...it was a disappointment ending in an otherwise great drama. of course loved the scene when they came together, when she draws the line in the sand and accepts that they should be together.. many great scenes between the leads is the most important to me in these dramas and this one had so many. lots of sad ones, and lots of feel good moments.

watch it now

First of all, I love the OST's in this drama. It got stuck inside my head omg. The acting and flow of this is very smooth. I suggest y'all should watch it now. It's a great drama. I don't understand why people are sleeping into this. It deserve more than just 10 points review. Why is it always the Taiwanese drama that always has the best OST my god. From the Leads to supporting characters, the plot is not boring. It's a great match for those people who like to watch noona romace/older woman and younger boy drama.
