So Unexpected that I Love It

I started out really hating the girl character Yun Shu. I mean how dumb can she be to be cheated multiple times. so much so that i was cursing her.. but until about the 3rd episode things started to take a different and pleasant surprise. and this kept happening.

the love story is not a typical plot line which i hate. and thats why i kept loving the series episode after episode. i just wish there were more sweet moments.

some parts were choppy like no proper transition that it felt they didnt have enough time to fit everything in. but overall i love it. it is up there for me together with DOTS, love 020, Go go squid. non complicated story plots and focus on the love of the 2 main characters.

i dont really like the love line for the 2nd n 3rd couples. but overall love the show because it was soo unexpected that this is my first time giving a review here.

A drama that will give you diabetes because of its sweetness & cuteness

How I basically descrive this drama would be how it was pure sugarcoated candy. It was all the fluff and lightheartedness and cuteness that I desperately needed in my life. You can say that I ate this drama yp like how I eat my sweet candy, which is stuffing jelly with as much as I can and enjoying every second of it. I do have to say that this drama had some Lolitia vibes in the beginning. However, this was only because of certain choices the costume designers and the directors made & not because of the romance itself. I'm happy how quickly they dropped those Lolita aspects and how they never came up again. Besides, there was never any useless drama based on their age differences, which I truly appreciated. The main couple was just so great at communicating with each other and overall super healthy as fuck. The ML is truly one of the HEALTHIEST, pure love interests I've ever seen. He's a man I truly can get behind with. Besides, I loved how our FL was basically the one who initiated physical contact like kissing and hugging 90% of the time. That was truly refreshing. It's basically the only student-teacher drama (besides my Strange Hero) that I'll allow because it wasn't even really a student-teacher love story for multiple reasons. Not only was he her lecturer/teacher for one course, but their relationship started after she wasn't enrolled at the university anymore (she didn't graduate because her thesis was rejected, so she had to wait a year before she would get her degree but she wasn't an active student at the university anymore since she didn't take any classes/courses). I was also invested in our secondary couples and I'm happy how all of them ended up together, because they were so stinking cute too. I have to admit that I was super gay for the FL's sister, what a beautiful woman that is. I also shipped the two friends but I definitely agreed with the male friend that the girl had to undergo some changes and I'm overall happy how the writers handled their romance. I was going to say that the previous boss of our FL and the classmate of our ML was the real MVP but he in fact doesn't deserve that much praise since he was just an actual fucking decent person for supporting the relationship between the FL & ML. I do think the main couple wouldn't have gotten together so quickly if it wasn't for his help, but him not being in the way of their relationship isn't something praiseworthy since it is just some human decency. This drama is so sweet and cute that it basically gave me diabetes and I'm honestly not mad about that.

Perfectly adequate

This show is good. The cast works well together
The story line has some good parts and very little draggy parts though if you dont like either of the secondary couple u can skip through without losing much

The dev of the ml is where most of the story centers on. His development as a person to round out his almost computer like mind

The fl character development centers around her career and to a lesser extent her confidence in herself and her judgement.

The chemistry works well between the fl and ml and u can see how tentative the kisses are between them at the beginning till the end

The story is run of the mill smart guy no emotions met emotional girl with too big of a heart rub off on each other support each other etc... both have their own crosses to bear and they learn to support and love each other over time

All the conflicts are resolved in a course of one or 2 episodes and nothing too crazy

Music is a bit repetitive but good earworm sometimes

Overall light and sweet but not too over the top

Worth the watch to get u in a smiling mood

Kinda sweet but not that great

Tsundere ML? Now that's my jam! A dash of cluelessness in the FL? Sure thing, no worries. But boy, this FL was like the cluelessness Olympics. I mean, give me a break. Her character grated on my nerves like sandpaper.

I gotta hand it to the drama, though. It kept things breezy, none of that heavy-duty misunderstanding nonsense or overly complicated love triangles. That's the saving grace that earned it this rating. I went all in, even toughing it out till the grand finale, hoping against hope that I'd start rooting for this couple. But nah, that spark just didn't catch fire.

And let's not even talk about the side couple. If anything, they were like an extra scoop of "meh" on top of an already lukewarm sundae.

STORY
So the drama focuses on the love story between clumsy and optimistic Yun Shu and her cold and “overly perfect” professor of Mathematics Zhang Sinian.

In the early episodes, it kind of annoyed me that Yun Shu was really gullible. I hate that people kept on taking advantage of her and she has little fighting spirit. She does have a great support system but I somehow feel like it made her dependent, she is unprepared to face the outside world of college. I mean like its only episode 4 and she was scammed twice! I kind of viewed her as careless, impulsive, indecisive, dependent, immature but loyal, kind and compassionate.

My first impressions were
1. Professor Zhang is too cold, borderline Stiff but he is extremely good looking while our female is his exact opposite. When he is perfect, responsible and very logical while she is more casual, careless, irresponsible, carefree, and more in touch with her emotional side.

2. Our female lead has a really good support system, from her overly supportive friends and her protective older sister. 3. No matter how perfect Professor Zhang may seem when it comes to his grandfather, he becomes desperate and impulsive and last 4. This drama will definitely have quite a number of clichés.

I’m conflicted with this drama. I love that Yun Shu eventually matured in the end, it had a good happy ending, not too annoying supporting cast (namely those who wanted to split our Prof Zhang and Yun Shu), really good lines, and adorably sweet couples. Good lines like the following:

“Quantum Entanglement. I dreamed of two quanta, one was in forward rotation and while the other was in reverse rotation. Even if they were apart, they were closely linked together in the unseen world due to some principles which cannot be explained by modern science. In the same trajectory and frequency, they formed a pair” -Grandpa Zhang
“We’re married first and then fell in love… I’m old fashioned and not humorous but one thing I’m sure of is I really like you. So I hope we can get to know each other more.”-Prof. Zhang“He forces me to do math with a cold face every day and criticize me. I never heard good things from him but. Although he looks school, he is actually a warm person. Its him who has always been encouraging and supporting me. He made me who I’ am right now”-Yun Shu
Then that time that someone wanted to get in between them, I’m so happy when Yun Shu finally stood up for herself and somewhat protected what was hers. She was not gonna be bullied lol.

“Thank you for worrying about me. Indeed you are older than me and have riched experience than me but I hope you can know that I’m Zhang Sinian’s wife. I’m already a married woman”
My heart was like Yes girl!

“I’m not that childish. I want to be a better half of you not your stumbling block. Although, I don’t quite understand your world view but at least, I can try my best for your life plan”-Yun Shu
Then grandpa Zhang always has amazing pep talks.

“You don’t have to worry because they’re so much alike. They’re like two parallel lines and never intersect with each other. They’re elites with common interests and they’ve known each other for a long time, but if they’re together, they can only become like-minded friends”-Granpd Zhang
And of course the highlight of the last 2 episodes is when Prof. Zhang was in a business trip and someone was snaking her way in which just irritated me to no end but Prof. Zhang’s confession is one for the books.

“I counted the times we get along with each other since I met Yun Shu for the fist time to the building of our contractual relationship and to this business trip. The number of times we get along with each other during this period is 821 times. In the process of contact, the percentage she showed happiness to me is 83.33%, amid this, 12% wasn’t caused by me. So the process of her getting along with me shows happiness generally. I also calculated my feelings about Yun Shu. Happiness and joy accounts for 73.33% so the date of the two of us getting along with each other is quite big among general couples.”-Prof Zhang
Someone who is as stiff as him, this is one of his best lines. His brain isn’t like any guy who could come up with something so sweet, cheesy or corny, instead his brain functions with numbers, probabilities, data and conclusions so this line was such a sweet way of telling the other girl that Yun Shu is the only one who can make him happy and no one else.

Now for some of things that I was not exactly a fan off (don’t worry I’ll try not to spoil too much but if you really don’t want to hear about it, then skip and head straight to Characters) I was not fond of the beginning of the drama, I found the female lead really annoying, weak and immature. Then most of the story is quite predictable but I wasn’t really mad at it, I was just hoping for something more.

For a 24 episode drama, it took me a while to finish this, not that long but longer than I expected to watch this drama. I took a break at first half and was really leaning into dropping it but decided to still give it a shot and I’m happy that I did. The story, despite its very common clichés and predictability, got better during the second half of the drama.

CHARACTERS
Yun Shu a graduating student who is almost half way through her last year but was set back when she failed her defense, got fired from her job and ultimately became homeless. She is loyal, kind and compassionate but at times can be naive/gullible. She can be indecisive and at first quite dependent to her friends but she is very compassionate and has high EQ. Even though it took some time but eventually she matures into a woman who will fight for her loved ones and make mature decisions.

Zhang Sinian a “perfectionist” Professor of Mathematics. He is aloof and cold genius. He doesn't have friends as he mostly focuses on his work and is quite insensitive. But despite being cool and distant, when it comes to his grandfather, he loses his control and becomes impulsive. I love that despite falling in love and the major changes in his life, his character didn’t change that much. I love that the writers really stick to his stiff and blunt personality and instead of changing his character they just improved him. I love that he didn’t become soft or weak.

Characters to mention:
Yun Lan - Yun Shu’s smart and workaholic older sister. She is the exact opposite of Yun Shu and probably like a more affectionate and protective female version of Sinian. She has her life set but she gets flustered because of her “encounter” with Lu Yu. She is your typical over protective sister who really dotes on their baby sister without realising that may sometimes become overbearing cause they think that that they know everything about the world and that they have to have a say in everything (why do I sound like I’m talking about something personal? LOL) but truly, she is definitely one of my favorite characters in the drama.

Gao Zhi Yi - One of two of Yun Shu bestfriend. She offered lots of good advice to Yun Shu and was always there whenever Yun Shu needed someone to talk to. I don’t remember what happened with Lin Nuo in the past ‘cause her overall love life is a mess (lol) tbh, I was not her biggest fan at the beginning ‘cause she sometimes acts like (not to be rude but) always desperate to have a “rich/good” boyfriend but somehow she kind of grew on me. I love that she was always a good emotional support to Yun Shu, always there to offer her shoulder and advices. She was always loyal and never demanded anything in return.

Lu Yu - Prof. Zhang’s famous childhood friend. He is a popular actor who fell in love with Yun Lan and continued to pursue her despite her cold refusals but his persistence is really cute and funny.

Lin Nun - one of Yun Shu’s bestfriend along with Zhi Yi. like Zhi Yi, he is extremely supportive and loyal to his friend. Although, the way he acts with Zhi Yi is definitely more than a friend would and I noticed even at the beginning that his feelings has not changed. He is the guy friend that every girl wants, the type that will always be there for you.

CAST
I’m definitely gonna search for more of Miles Wei’s (Zhang Sinian) projects, I kinda like him. I don’t really have much to complain about the cast.

FINAL THOUGHTS (RATING: 8.5/10)
The drama didn’t really hook me in immediately and was on the verge of dropping it since I was not fond of the first half of the drama but the second half was definitely better (definitely better since I actually finished it lol). Even though I was a bit reluctant with the drama, it definitely has its moments. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was expecting on my first watch but when I re-watched it again, it definitely grew on me and could definitely say that this might get into my pick me up drama list.

Romanticism cravings fix

Craving sappy, tons AWW? Perfect and Casual is THAT drama for you.
No tragedy. No endless pain & tears but courtesy, respect, growth and love.
Incredibly well written story, there aren't any holes. Every story is cared for and has its own end.
Refreshing, similar to light #kdramas

This is a romantic series perfect after watching some gut wrenching drama that left your mouth and heart sour how it ended lol
Great pick me up.. i had serious jaw hurting moments from grins and awws...

NOTE: I am not sure what is going on with end 2020 Chinese dramas but they have terrible audio. Some moments go mute. Sometimes the voice is covered by the music. It is mostly annoying. Hence why i gave an 8 on music (i did love the OST)

More project with Si Nian & Yun Shu please!

Its my first chinese drama. Its so fun and i like Yun Shu character, its worth to rewatch again. I'm little bit shock about how many kisses scene, because i rarely seen many kiss in kdrama. Well, beside the main role relationship, i find the sister relationship a little bit boring. I'm late to know this masterpiece, but im happy to know it. Thanks for the fyp tiktok that make me fall in love with this drama. I hope Yun shu and Si Nian will get more project in the future, their chemistry is really so good!

We're meant to be together

Surprisingly i've never thought i'd hook with this drama. I've been thinking either to watch or not bcs sometimes modern chinese drama gives a lot of cliche plot, predicted storyline and nonsense plot twist sometimes. The main reason why i managed to finish till the end bcs of the main lead. I would rate 9/10 if there're no other couples but since it has multiple couples so i have to be fair in giving rating.

The title already showed that we're all flaws in something but in order to fix the problems, we have to cooperate and help each other to correct our mistakes, no matter how perfect or clumsy he/she is. Afterall we learn something.

The male and female lead are my fav parts. I like how the male lead helped the FL with care and gentle even tho at the beginning it quite messy between them bcs of their different perspectives and experiences. The warmth inside the personality of the female lead already mesmerized me. She is seriously kind hearted person and the maturity hits her ever since she got many opportunities to learn new things throughout this adventure life.

You would like this pair lovely couple bcs they resolved their problems quickly and have a good communication when something goes wrong (i could say a pleasant interaction).

Another one is the female lead's bonding with her sister. It was too cute and lovable bcs they respect each other and always show concern and fondness :))

I rarely make review but once i liked the logical, storyline of drama. I desperately want to jot down what made this drama fluttered me. I just noticed i only talk about the main lead lmao.

This is a story of a Mr. Perfect i.e., a cold professor and Miss Casual i.e., a sunny student.

I loved this drama too much. Actually I really love this types of romcom dramas. After completing 'put your head on my shoulder', this is the only drama that gave me the same vibes in both of them. They never truly breakup that's why I loved it. I have atleast seen this drama for 10 times but now Iam watching it again and again. The male lead in both dramas help the female lead in their job. Both dramas are too cute that makes my heart fall on them.

I know that tastes of all peoples are not same, but if you ever like 'put your head on my shoulder' then you will definitely like this 'perfect and casual'.

One of the best!

This is one of my favorite dramas, hands-down, because of how mature the characters were. I never felt like there was any cattiness or misunderstandings. Nobody was immature and made a big deal about nothing. I loved that the ML was always patient and understanding. The FL isn’t overdramatic.
It’s sweet but not overly sweet. A little more romance would have been great but honestly nothing to complain about. The ML is one of my favorite actors and this drama sealed it for me!
It’s a slow burn but doesn’t bore you. I’ve rewatched this plenty of times because of how simple this love story is!

Light and sweet drama <3

I've been wanting to see this drama for so long that when I finally started it, I couldn't let go! The story line and (first time in a long time in Chinese production) beautiful leading couple. Both of them are adorable but he just stole my heart ????

The essence of the series is that two completely different people as a result of fate end up as a married couple ? They are one of the most adorable couple I saw in the last few months (except Jang Uk and Mu Doek from Alchemy of Souls) and I like them both very much. The actors play their roles so naturally thet you get the impression that you are watching scenes from the lives of real people ?? His fascination with mathematics was quite exaggerated but still acceptable.

The beginning of the series introduces Yun Shu's two friends who are the first secondary couple. They were together before, now are friends but he still has feelings for her. Unfortunately this couple wasn't good. I must say it, I'm sorry but these two were one of the most annoying characters of I've seen in series.

The last couple was brought to the show by the wedding of the leads. Yun Shu's sister (Yun Lan) and Si Nian's best friend (Lu Yu) had already a small .... situation between each other before ?? therefore the wedding encounter was quite awkward for them (and funny for us) ? I like these characters 100x more that Yun Shu's friends. Yun Lan and Lu Yu are as different as the main couple but diagonally - she is the cold and unapproachable one, while he is crazy and emotional. Their story is quite interesting and it was a shame to see the producers speed it up to fit in 24 episodes.

I rate the series 5.75/10. It would have been 6 if the producers had focused on sweet Yun Shu and handsome Si Nian. Perfect and Casual has nice background music and everyone is dressed so nicely it makes me want to go shopping! Regardless of the dynamics of this series, I totally recommend it because it is light and sweet?

I really enjoyed it.

I really, really enjoyed this series. The fl wasn't vapid and childish, she was so cute. The ml is always one of my favorites so no surprise there. The storyline was okay, tropey because the fl always seemed to step into better opportunities. Most people would never see even one of and she got like 10. I think that could probably be my only complaint about the series, her success was really improbable.
The ChuChu chick was aggravating. She was supposed to be so perfect and she smile in Yun Shu's face but she kept doing sneaky things to try to make her look less than her. You're older and more successful and yet you still are jealous of and trying to sabotage a young woman. I don't care if their relationship was contractual, that was a married man and she kept trying to steal him. And the whole time, Yun Shu was smiling at her, trying to be nice to the lady who was trying to steal you husband.
