One of the best romance C dramas of all time!

You are My Glory is probably one of my top romance C dramas of all time and how can you fault it? It has everything you are looking for in romance C drama.

The best part of the drama is the casting. When you have an A list cast like Yang Yang and Dilraba Dilmurat you can find anything wrong with that. I love Yang Yang in King’s Avatar and Who Rules the World but we haven’t seen him in really good rom-com drama since Love O2O and so You are my Glory is just a treat for the fans.

Dilraba Dilmurat is really cute and bubbly in the drama and that’s how I like her personality best. Don’t get me wrong, I love her strong role in The Long Ballad and Blue Whisper, but there’s something about her whimsical side in You are my Glory that just puts a smile on your face.

There are probably 3 main acrs to the story. The getting to know you arc is my favorite arc. I like how the main characters got to know each other through video games, it kind of brings back nice King Avatar vibes. It’s really wholesome and really sets the tone of the drama.

There is a bit of an arc where the ML works at Nasa and that’s about 10 episodes. I will admit, I’m not a fan of this part, only because I found it a little boring and it’s a little propagandaish, but the episodes are really easy to whisk through and I don’t really count those episodes part of the drama.

The second half of the drama is a new dynamic and things get really heated. If you like kissing scenes then you will get tons of that and again, I felt like that was written for the fans. The chemistry between the two leads is really good and at one point I felt like they dated in real life because it was just so natural and organic.

Overall, if you haven’t seen You are my Glory, you need to ASAP, if you already have, I bet it’s time to do another rewatch because it’s that kind of drama.

Growth and Effort leads to Glory

Very nice story. ML and FL felt authentic in the growth and adjustments needed for their love to remain and sustain the course. How the ML was written as someone highly intelligent and handsome who also has his own insecurities and hesitations was well done. The FL was cute in her delivery of business, beauty, unrequited love and then beloved. The writers allowed each lead to 'show up' in the other's life in their unique way that brought the other happiness and balance. It was a fun flirtatious series throughout. The chemistry was swoon worthy and sexy. Must watch!

A Mature Story With Adult Problems

Unlike any other dramas, with CEO and Cinderella tropes, this drama hit differently. You Are My Glory is a drama that told about dream pursuing.

At first I didn't really like Yu Tu's attitude, where he again and again rejected Jingjing. He clearly liked her, okay. But I understood, because he felt so inferior. Jingjing was an actress, money for her, was just like water. Yu Tu, in the other hand, struggled with his life. He was afraid if they were together, Jingjing had to suffer. And therefore, he chose to reject her again.

In the end, I loved how the story progressed, how he found the courage again, and found that without Jingjing, he could't go on. Jingjing was his glory, and for Jingjing he was also her glory. His courage to pursue his dream despite all of the disturbances, was her glory. This story was dreamy, and fun to watch, with so many fluff and sweetness to the end of the episode.

Only watched for Yang Yang

A great show for people who only want fluff. There's no drama or angst and the romance aspect is just so-so. I only watched for Yang Yang and only kept watching because it's good background noise. I will say that it's more mature than campus romances, but less intriguing than something like an office drama. If you're sincere in watching this then don't have high expectations, this show is not challenging to watch at all. Also, don't be tempted to fast-forward; there won't be much left to watch!!

PS: loved the OST "Fall in Love" by Mi Ka (Intersection/INTO1)!

Sorry not a 10 :(

Please don’t hate me... lol. Seeing majority of all the other reviews are 8.5 and above! I honestly cannot give it THAT much credit.

First of all the actors: Yang Yang - visuals (hell yeah!) He looks good, good, good! Especially the desert scene coming out of the jeep ;) Kissing- nicely done! :) As for Dilraba, it’s my first drama watching her. To be honest I don’t really fancy her, or think she’s all that great. Her voice was a little high pitched, but her acting was quite ok. She looked really good in that red dress ;) however her character as an actress was just too unbelievable ie she was just too kind and sweet. Their chemistry was hmm ok... it seemed a little fake and forced. But the kiss and bed scenes were nice and hot to watch ;) Also their marriage was a little too good to be believable - no arguments or disagreements, so perfectly suited in humour and understanding, and everyone loved them. A bit far fetched. The romance development at the beginning was quite nice.

As for the storyline, I didn’t mind the gaming segment. It was just sad you don’t see the characters from the first half in the second half at all! The few episodes on the aerospace and Yu Tu’s job was boring, albeit the writers probably wanted to educate the audience about China’s progress in this field. And the episodes about Guan Zai being ill etc.. was completely redundant in my opinion. I skipped most of it.

I did like Yu Tu’s formal proposal, literally teared during that scene. It was quite different and very meaningful. Not a 10 for me, but definitely worth watching. It’s one of the better ones this year ;)

Be true to your love and your love will definitely become successful...

Great acting by both ML and FL, the exceptional story line which makes this Romcom even better, never felt bore in any single episodes, this Show concentrates on long distance relationship and if you are true to your partner not only you can succeed but your partner will succeed too....

Going further on the story-line, this is a unique story-line although you might have watched in many different drama's but in this the director gets the credit for bringing out the true acting potential of each and every character weather it is a small character for 2-5 mins also. I became fan of Yang-Yang and Dilraba...

Overall the production, visual effects and are up to the mark which makes this drama a complete package of 10/10.

Ok show with eye candy

For anyone a fan of Yang Yang (which I am) or Dilraba Dilmurant (which I am not) then you will enjoy the show. My feeling is that this is an OK drama. Everything was OK about it. The story was OK, the acting was what you would expect. The brightest spot is the two leads are good looking so that is something. I have to say this is the first show I have seen Dilraba in where she didn't annoy me. I actually stopped watching anything with her cause I find her acting so over the top cuts and annoying, she maybe she has gotten better. The pull of Yang Yang being in the show won me over.

The story is about an aerospace engineer, Yu Tu, who is going through a career crisis when we meet him. In leave he form a stressful job that pays poorly, ruins people's health, and doesn't;t allow for personal life. Qiao Jingling is a famous celebrity / actress who had a crush on Yu Tu in middle and high school, but he turned her down. As fate would have it she needs to learn how to play a video game and luckily Yu Tu is on leave from his job and happens to be a master gamer (not sure how since they imply they have very little free time - must be cause he is so smart). Te two reconnect but given their different lifestyles will it work out is the question. That is really it other than the two lead being cute, and there were some moments that made me laugh.

There are a lot of characters that show up in the drama for a little bit and then disappear never to be mentioned again, or they are brought back 10 episodes later and you forgot all about them. The parents of the two leads are mainly MIA, Yu Tu's mentor and co-worker Guan Zai is there for a bit and then mostly gone. I would have liked to seen more of him and his family. Normally I think dramas can get lost worrying about other characters besides the main story, this one was the opposite - so focused on the main characters that the other characters are not interesting or if they are they leave you wanting more information.

The acting was fine, Yang Yang did a good job with Yu Tu, he's very smart and gifted but also a little world weary I would say it's a grown-up version of his Love O2O character. His acting was fine nothing earth shattering. As I stated at least Dialraba Dilmurant didn't;t annoy me as much as normal, s I would say her acting was better. I found some of the other cast more interning and the actors were all good - from Yu Tu's colleagues to Qiao Jingling's manager and assistant.

If I had to give my feelings in one word it would be the drama was OK, nothing extraordinary but worth a watch.

You are my glory: Life of dreams

The plot itself is very simple and romantic. I really enjoyed the romantic scenes between Yang Yang and Dilraba that literally gave me goosebumps in several episodes. The screen is filled with glow when both of them appear together. They also showed how the researchers and artists maintain their career and family. The costumes and setup is really top notch, the team has really put in a lot of efforts to make this drama presentable.

Acting is satisfactory. Both Yang Yang and Dilraba did what they are asked to deliver. I really liked the Dilraba's assistant she is very energetic and cute, added lot of value to the scene. I feel that they didn't give much screen time for the cp's parents.

Music is nice and pleasant to hear.

Overall I enjoyed the drama very much.

When someone asks me what is it like to be passionate about something?

I'll tell them, "You have to watch You're My Glory." I cannot believe it's been a month since I watched this excellent drama. Before watching it, I felt that it wouldn't live up to its hype. I've never been so happy to have been proved wrong.

It didn't only live up to its hype but for me, I'd say it surpassed it. I was kind of in a rough patch when I decided to watch You're My Glory.

When it began, it grabbed me by my arms and said, "Look, I'm going to be your blanket. It will be warm and cozy. You'll be safe but most of all, you'll be fine. I promise you."

I'm glad it didn't fail to keep its promise because boy, was I warm and cozy when watching it all. I felt safe and yes, I turned out fine. Still in a rough patch but You're my Glory loaded me with a few ammunitions to navigate it.

So, why would I show this to someone when they ask me what it's like to be passionate about something?

If there's anything You're my Glory delivered aside from all its sweetness and reassurance, it's that it's aware how tough life could be for some of us who are trying to realize their dreams. Especially when we don't have the connections, money, loved ones to blindly believe in us and, overall good luck to get started and keep going.

But, that's not enough. You may get started in realizing your dream but what happens when it gets all monotonous and stressful? You have to remember what got you into it in the first place! Your passion did. And you have to hold on tight onto it, no matter what happens.

Passion isn't something that's borne out of pure love for things or people. It's the little friend in the corner that will be the last one standing when everyone is tired of waiting to see you win or keep winning. It's going to hold your hands and tell you to keep moving. You deserve to win and even if you don't, you deserve to keep going or even get started.

Weirdly, this doesn't seem to be the only highlight of the drama. Yang Yang and Riba deserve flowers for showing us what it's like to be in love. The bicker, the dirty talk, the trust, the respect, the forgiving and happiness.

I'm searching my memory to find if I've seen anybody portray a charismatic character like Riba did in YAMG but I can't find anything, at the moment.

I could not find it in me to hate her character. She is mischievous, lovely but God, so beautiful. Her heart is beautiful, her mind is beautiful, her soul is beautiful. Yang Yang must have felt the same way whenever they had to get into character and had to match her, which he didn't fail at.

Yang Yang was perfectly imperfect. It's not everyday you see flawed MLs. I don't mean the ones with weird medical disabilities or temporal memory loss but flaws like anxiety and self doubt.

Maybe I haven't watched enough Chinese dramas to make this statement but I have seen a handful so I'll make this statement. Not one character felt off on the screen as opposed to what I've seen in most C-dramas that I've graced my eyes with.

Every actor/actress, in YAMG, gave their all and best into their specific roles. There wasn't any cringe acting and every emotion delivered by this talented bunch seemed to resonate with me, the viewer.

Coming back to passion, I'd say that everyone involved, on screen and off screen seemed to be passionate about this project. Because they were, You're My Glory got to be the masterpiece that it is.

If you're in a sour mood, watch it. It'll make you feel better. I do have to warn you though, it gets too sweet at some point and if you're allergic to sweetness, you have to be strong. If you're in a happy mood, watch it. There's nothing wrong in feeling even happier.

As someone who's in a STEM field like Yang Yang's character in YAMG, the days get too hard sometimes. But after YAMG, I'll be sure to remember that passion is in a little corner, waiting to hold my hands when I can barely stand up. I hope that I'll have someone to be there for me as well, I think everyone deserves that.

A Mesmerizing Drama

I did not start this drama on an expectant note as I had just finished watching You Are My Hero and thought that nothing could have surpassed that. Further more I was not taken by the first episode of YAMG as I thought the introduction song had such a comical background and JingJing seemed like a childish person. However the story developed and I was totally mesmerised. The pair of leads had amazing chemistry and YangYang portrayed Yu Tu's anguish so well that I could feel the heartache. Even though there are only 32 episodes and each episode is short, I felt that there were 2 subsequent sections to the drama - the gaming section which lead to a big built-up (very exciting) of the game and to the couple's interactions and the second section, the consummation of their relationship. The portrayal of the aerospace industry may seemed a little draggy but it is important to give the background to the work that drives Yu Tu. JingJing's seemingly childish character goes to show her sincerity and generosity. My initial lack of enthusiasm for the opening soundtrack changed as I now could relate to the dreamlike background to enforce the dreams that Yu Tu has of conquering the stars. Overall the drama is totally mesmerising and I can watch it all over again!

Cute romance with an overwhelming story

If this was just focused on the romance, I would have given a rating of 10/10. The problem is exactly that it isn't only about their romance. The gaming aspect took a big chunk of the focus in the drama, and surprisingly didn't bother me as much. Yes, I did skip some gaming parts where it was just dragging but overall it was a great way for the main leads to actually become closer and eventually develope feelings for each other. I do feel like this is one of those dramas where the characters are far from being realistic given their achievments and them being in their 30s (her being a famous actress and him a genius aerospace engineer who is also on a professional level at gaming).

However, the biggest flaw this drama has is unfortunately the space theme regarding Yu To's work. With him being an aerospace engineer, the storytelling towards the final part of the drama just kept on being about China launching satellites and working out troubles he and his colleagues encounter in their workforce. It strays too far from their romance and relationship, especially since the whole space-related plot was a big patriotic stamp of politics. In my opinion, this changed the whole vibe of the drama and I enjoyed it far less, even if the actors tried to keep the romance between the characters as vibrant as before. I loved the healthy romance between the leads, they resolved misunderstandings between each other and had good communication and trust.

If you are a fan of one of the leads, of in the search for a fluffy romance with alot of gaming, this is definitely for you! And if you find yourself skipping the space-scenes, don't worry, I did the same.

Overall, the drama looks good, the actors did a good job but the story lacks towards the end. It would have been better to just stick to their romance instead of forcing the space-thing to be at the center for the last part of the drama

It's not perfect but I get the hype and high rating - Very Binge-worthy

Completed - 11/14/2021 - 8.75 (my gut says it's not quite a 9.0)

I am adding my LONG review to hopefully help someone who is on the fence about watching this drama (that is, if you can find this review among the hundreds of reviews). I debated whether to watch this drama because it was so popular and overhyped, and I was concerned that I would be disappointed. I am glad to say that I enjoy this drama very much, though it's not perfect. But I can see fans of Yang Yang and Dilraba would definitely love it. I am not a big fan of Dilraba, especially her voice (though I am not going to dock a point because of that since it's a personal preference). Her voice is a little too young and whiny for my taste, so I have to rely on Yang Yang's visuals to help me out (and gosh..he is very attractive in this drama and the drama does not fail to remind me of this fact).

I would recommend this drama to:
- fans of Yang Yang and Dilraba - they look really good together and have great chemistry
- fans of sweet and fluffy romance with a decent amount of believable kisses and hugs
- fans of gaming (though you can't treat this as a e-sport drama). It's not on the same level as "Cross Fire", "Gank Your Heart" or "Fall into your Smile". It does have great graphics.
- those who are interested to learn about Chinese aerospace field
-who likes a slow-burn mature romance with no misunderstandings or love triangles

I would NOT recommend this drama to those:
- who do not like a CONCENTRATED heavy dose of fluffy sweet romance
- who do not enjoy gaming (there's a lot of gaming in the first 15 or so episodes)
- who find the aerospace industry boring (it's our ML's profession and has a good portion of that in the drama).
- who don't like Chinese propaganda - as the showcase of aerospace engineering and technology could indicate that

Even though the drama starts with Dilraba/JingJing/FL's shenanigans, this drama is very much about Yang Yang/YuTu/ML's character development. It starts with ML's indecision about his current dream career after 10 years, when he is forced to face with financial reality, and ends with his dream coming true with the support of FL. The first half of the show has a lot of gaming and the slow-burn romance of our leads. ML's aerospace profession is sprinkled throughout the drama. I am actually happy to have a drama focus on such a unique profession and for me to learn a little more about the challenges that staff and family face. I don't know how accurate its depiction of the profession is, but I generally enjoy it. I do find that it could have done a better job to introduce the profession regarding the Xi An shuttle incident with more layman's terms. It was quite hard to follow all the scientific and engineering jargons and explanation. The super sweet fluffy romance starts at around Ep 22 when they get together. This is a heavy dose of concentrated sweetness. It somehow can make viewers think that this is arbitrary sweetness for fan service, to overcompensate the lack of it in the first half of the show. My main complaint about the plot/main story is the uneven distribution of gaming/aerospace/romance/fluffiness. I also feel that the drama could be 24-28 episode long, instead of 32.

We all know the romance is the main selling point of this drama. It definitely does not disappoint as our leads look great together and have really good chemistry. All the kisses and hugs seem natural and sweet. This is a very mature and healthy romance with witty dialogs and banter. We don't have to worry about love triangles/squares or misunderstandings. I do find FL acts a little too young for an almost 30-year woman in the beginning of the show. Her little girl voice doesn't help either. However, I am glad to know that she might sound young, but she's witty and smart and has a high EQ. Dilraba looks beautiful and she acts well (maybe she's just being herself). I just don't like her heavily white foundation/makeup on her face. I read reviews of people not liking Yang Yang's acting and thinks he's wooden. I have to respectfully disagree. In the first half of the drama, he's in constant internal conflict with himself about his career and relationship with FL, and I think Yang Yang acted really well. I can see that turmoil in his eyes. You can see how he's changed once he is in a relationship with Jing Jing and his witty and more outgoing personality comes out. I applaud our FL for taking the initiative to profess her love when they're in high school and at present. I am also glad that ML takes the initiative after they are in a relationship because FL has done so much already. You can say it's a personality change or character growth for him - from a somewhat distant, logical and cool guy to a passionate and lovey-dovey guy. So much better than the ML in another show who has a personality change all of a sudden when he's in love (looking at you ML in "Falling into your Smile") LOL

Other Observations:
1. Did I mention Yang Yang looks hot in every single scene? LOL. He looks so cool in the gaming scene that it reminds me I need to watch "King's Avatar"
2. This drama keeps on telling us that our leads are good-looking - like every single chance it gets. It has too many slow-motion shots to show us how beautiful they are.
3. I love Janice Wu as Dilraba's BFF
4. I enjoy the voice chat during gaming and wish to have more of that.
5. There isn't any annoying characters and the supporting cast is great.
