Can't understand the hype

While the first half was still rather decent the second half was a complete let down. The FL and the OST kind of saved this from being an absolute wreck, however about everything else was subpar at best.

The male lead actor didn't do a particularly good job. He only ever had one expression on his face - no nuances whatsoever. The character felt completely flat and boring, I got no emotional response whether he was supposedly sad or happy or angry. As for the character, it was about as badly written as it was acted. It wasn't clear in any way why the FL fell in love with him in the first place (apart from a pretty face he had nothing going for him). He started out as an arrogant jerk with trust issues and ended up as a creepy stalker. To whoever thought this is a type women should be attracted to I would recommend some counseling. The only interest the FL should have had in him would have been as a patient. As a psychology major his dire need for therapy should have hit her in the face. Instead she went off to date him, you got to love drama logic.

The secondary couple (?) had about as much impact on the story as had the FL's friend - none. In general the support cast didn't leave much of an impression on me. The only exception might have been Xiao Lu, however her only role seemed to be acting as a messenger between Nian Qin and Wu Yan, making the FL aware of all the ML's 'great qualities', the 'good intentions' he supposedly had as well as telling her about his tragic past.

The drama's only saving grace was it's above average soundtrack as well as some very well-written poetic quotes, however this wasn't enough for me to feel like my time watching this was well spent. I expected a lot more, especially if I consider the high ratings.

Humble to the end!

I finished watching the drama on 13th August, but I'm writing the review only today because I wish more people will discover Crush.

Quiet, no chaos, pretty cinematography, greenish scenery. Basically the story about how the couple meet each other, breakup and reconcile again. Wuyan helped Nian Qin in the first half and Nian Qin helped Wuyan in the later half. Like our couple situation, Crush is imperfect, but it has so little wrong for me. You will find yourself being happy for them and cheer on their love story. ( I wish to be the piano in Nian Qin's villa so I can witness their love story lol! ) n_n''

Despite this being the second drama Yanjun shoot, he showed a good performance as Su Nian Qin. Wan Peng also did a great job potraying Sang Wuyan. I wish both of them will have a brighter future ahead in their acting career.

OST wise all songs are great! This is the first Cdrama that I never skip the opening credit. The ending credit for both first half and later half of the drama were great too. I have most of the songs in my personal playlist. Initially, I thought the weird gloomy bgm is not quite fit in the drama, but I found myself appreciate those bgm when I rewatch the show. I love it when there are moments when the side OSTs are playing and it will be like we are watching short MV in the drama.

Overall I am happy I discovered Crush and I'm currently looking forward for both Yanjun and Wan Peng's next project respectively. It is October and believe me I am still rewatching Crush clips over and over and the love butterflies in my stomach still linger on me. Su Nian Qin and Sang Wuyan love story will be the unforgettable one. \\(*^_^)//

It's Really Such a Healing Drama ☺️

I really love the story and how the actors portrayed the character so well :) this drama is a full-packaged (story line+acting+actor+plot+soundtracks) ^^
Lin Yanjun as su nian Qin did a great job in his first acting debut especially the character of su nian Qin that he was partially blind, so for Lin Yanjun it will be a challenge to act as a partially blind man but wow he portrayed it so well and doesn't feel like this is his first drama. I love how the chemistry between Lin Yanjun and wan Peng going soo well in this drama . The ending tho, love how it ended with happy ending and doesn't feel it was forced ❤️

I actually have no expectation for this drama as I just randomly watch it to kill my time but surprisingly, it makes me subscribe to the iQiyi apps because I couldn’t wait for another episode ! Good job for the director for making most scenes to be aesthetically pleasing, the music, the cinematography - its really good, its really bring out the vibes and mood and it doesn’t feel like a cheap drama lol. for the actors, the female lead is so good, and for the male lead, i think he really did a good job for his first drama. Thanks to this drama, I’m looking forward for their future works !

Highly recommended modern Chinese Romance Drama for 2021.

What I like about this drama was it's overall perfection like it was destined to all the casts because they portrayed their roles beautifully. Most specially the Main Couple plus the chemistry was one of the best. Everytime you see their sweetness interactions, you feel butterflies in your stomach. Also all the ost are perfectly fit for each scenes so you feel the emotions deeply.

The story was realistic and all the emotions can bring it out to you, so be prepared. Thank you for the Writer, Director and Production team that behind of the cameras for bringing this amazing story that will always leave in my heart.

Once you start watching it, you can't stop until the end. Maybe you crave for more and become addicted to this masterpiece drama. Like me I'm still in the process of moving on and when I missed it, I'll back and watched it again.

A good one that could have been great

In short it is definitely a good to watch show. Binge watched in 2 days and no regrets.

The detailed review has SPOILERS

The Drama creators/runners tried to walk a line between a fluffy rom-com and slice of life to be a core subject, but some plot failures (like the FL PTSD twist towards the end) made it fall short of becoming a masterpiece in either of categories.

The attributes that carried the drama was the Acting and Story.

Acting
I have watch almost all of Wan Peng's dramas and she has done a awesome work again with what is available for FL character, but the person who stole the show was Evan Lin, he has really out done himself for his first drama to play such a complex role and that too to perfection is simply amazing. The core is the evolution of this arrogant, cold, immature person evolving into a mature, person who is willing to move forward with life accepting his complicated family, how other see him and of course chasing his love.

SFL and SML are just filler the entire screen belonged to the ML and FL. Li Jia Hao and Yu Kun Niu played their part.

Story is next best thing of the drama

Positives: Showcase of scenarios in somewhat real life style, while at same time trying come close to a Rom-com. There are no real villainous characters just some people who act out of their emotions and circumstances. But at the same time showing all the characters in Grey a good example is the ML when is say he did choose to cure is blindness in a early age because he wanted to take revenge on his father by making him feel guilty or FL sometime making temperamental actions.

Negatives: Majorly the dysfunctional Su family, first when parents abandon their blind son due to financial crisis, and mother dies by car crash/suicide when visiting her son on his birthday. The father takes him back when he make money but does not try to relate with hum and he then apparently marries three times, with his latest Wife being a friend/ of close age to ML, who showcase motherly love on the ML so much so that she forces her unwilling sister (also the ML friend) to take care of him. Yeah for such an unorthodox family they showcase to much familial values which moves away from the above mentioned real life scenario. Guys you cannot make such a stepmom look that good both in character and as person, I watched some of Zhao Xin character roles in other dramas, I have never remembered any but will remember this.

AND OFCOURSE THIS THE BIG ONE, The sudden death of the friend character Cheng Yin played by Mei Yi Chen, I was wondering why the character which was having some nice presence was not being built on and suddenly she was a PTSD induced hallucination for half of the series COME ON...not need especially since it was not closed properly, you could have kept it fluffy here...

Music is acceptable not a breakthrough score

Production is good

Camera and editing work should be appreciated specially scenes where the show the partially blind view of the ML.

ALL IN ALL still a good Drama to watch take away looking forward to more of Evan Lin's work in the future.

9/10 Signing off!

Beautiful

The first few scenes were really beautiful and well-done. I agree that some scenes felt like fillers and irrelevant. I also skipped the parts of the second couple (sorry). One thing confused me was the situation of Chen Ying. I felt like it was unsolved and very unclear. The last episode felt like it was rushed and it's sad because it could have been better or it could have ended another way. It's slow phased at first and I think it was appropriate.

I commend the acting of Wan Peng. She was very likable. She's a cheerful type of person that is not annoying and/or childish. Her smile is cute and charming. I really liked how she acted, it felt natural and real. I also like Evan Lin's acting and singing. His smile was heart fluttering lol.

Overall, it's a good watch.

Best Chinese drama that I watch so far in 2021

This is my first time write review because this drama is best Chinese drama that I watch so far in 2021. Both Wan Peng and Evan Lin act and executed so well in their character. Can't deny that they really have the good chemistry.

I really love the story as is different with a lot of other Chinese drama. So addicted. From beginning until the end so touching and not boring at all. It is so good that 24 episode is not enough for me. I want more of this.

And also love the ost sing by both Wan Peng ang Lin Ya Jun. Just wish there will be MV for their song. Gave applause for both of them. Definitely worth 10 for this ?????

Inspiring drama with soft romance

Crush : The drama gave a motivating & inspiring message with the sweet, soft, pure romance, I enjoyed it.
* The drama inpires that disability cannot stop anyone from becoming a complete personality. If a person lacks the use of his eyes doesn’t mean he lacks vision.. Society should understand that people with disabilities donot need to be fixed, they need to be accepted as who they are.
* The drama shows how a relationship get hit due to miscommunication and blame game.
* The final episode, ML mentioned boys shouldn't cry and how women are weak and to be protected by men 'which is not right', i feel we need to normalize that boys can also cry out loud as they also have diff. issues to handle, in the end they are also human being.
* I liked the train station scene the most, the dialogue just hit right "No matter where we split up, I'll be waiting for you at the same spot/place"!

I like both main leads. Wang peng (Sang Wu Yan) & Evan Lin's (Su Nian Qin/Yi Jin) acting is damn good. Although for ML its his debut in acting. The other characters are okay.

Music : Very meaningful n soothing OST/Music but "Forever Shine on Me" by Lin Yanjun I like the most.

I loveeee the OST's. I love Evan Lin's voice!!❤️

Everything felt so natural unlike other cdramas.
The emotions portrayed in this drama really made me realize about how life goes on and the obstacles we have to face. And the acting was really really good. ML was really good acting as a blind person it was so realistic and our FL was a warm and outgoing person who melted the cold personality of ML. They are perfect for each other❤.❤

Love with your heart, not with your eyes.

Evan Lin carried this drama. his portrayal of Su Nan Qin was almost perfect. Of course, everyone loves a happy ending, so his regaining his sight was a necessary evil, but I think the couple could have been happy if he didn't. The relationship between the ML & FL was sweet in parts, amusing in parts, but also a little disjointed too. As a psych major, Sang Wu Yan couldn't figure things out, but relied on Xiao Lu to analyze Nan Qin's actions? Sure - she could provide information about his past - but a psych major should have had more insight, in my opinion.

There were a lot of plot holes - which did not detract from the actual story but left the viewer with unresolved arcs. The flow of storylines did not seem organized. Just bits and pieces thrown in - Cheng Yin's death and 'ghost' appearance and then sudden goodbye; the various male characters (blind dates and Peng Rui Xing's roles) seemed to have little bearing in the story. Nan Qin's father and stepmother's backstories and why he hated her so much. Xiao Lu's relationship with Nan Qin was basically undeveloped.

The couples: Much as I liked the ML & FL characters - there was something missing in their romance. It was apparent that the FL was not into the romantic scenes at all. In a romance drama, the kissing scenes should at least be realistic or feel that way to the viewer. It was apparent that the FL did not want to do intimate scenes, and that kind of spoiled the feel of the romance for me. The second couple had no chemistry at all. Their characters were even less appealing and unfortunately, did nothing for the story and I could not connect with them at all.

The premise of the ML finding growth, love and healing was appealing to me. I appreciated the FL's character not being a shallow, giggling ninny. She really had a depth of character and strong will - and I like that portrayal of Chinese women. No delusional obsession, no petulant foot-stamping when she can't her own way, no silly behaviour, and no childish outfits and accessories - but wearing appropriate, grown-up clothing.

I might rewatch this if I wanted a series to kill some time - because I really quite liked Evan Lin's acting - and he is so very easy on the eyes too. He really earned the rating I gave this drama. I hope to see him in future dramas.
