Thanks for this amazing adaptation!!!! - From a day one fan!

Ive been following the story of The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus since it was just a webnovel so to watch it get turned into a manga and eventually a tv show is just a dream come true!! Not only do the actors really resemble their characters, but they also perfectly encapture their personalities!!! The whole crew also did a fantastic job by dressing every character in similar outfits to what they wore in the manga, which just added to the magic for fans! Im so happy to see this story come to life!

Definitely choose this

The real main actors, Esther and Ryan, have fantastic chemistry. I loved how the director focused the actors eyes emphasizing changing emotions. I laughed many times and cried too in the father-daughter scene. I enjoyed every scene. There's no boring moments so far. I know there's a popular drama going on alongside with this drama. But I have chosen this over another.

Delightful escape into a world filled with humor, some truly amazing characters

If you're looking for a delightful escape into a world filled with humor, heart, and some truly amazing characters, "Love Game in Eastern Fantasy" is an absolute must-watch! This show is a perfect blend of lighthearted romance and whimsical adventure, and it had me laughing from start to finish.

The plot weaves together enchanting elements of Eastern fantasy with a playful twist on the classic love game trope. The characters are wonderfully quirky and relatable, each bringing their own unique flair to the story. From the charmingly clumsy hero to the fiercely independent heroine, their chemistry is both hilarious and endearing, making every moment a joy to watch.

The humor is spot-on—there's just the right amount of comedic mishaps and witty banter that keeps you grinning throughout. The vibrant settings and stunning visuals add an extra layer of charm, transporting you straight into this fantastical world.

Overall, "Love Game in Eastern Fantasy" is a refreshing and entertaining ride that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Whether you're a fan of romance, comedy, or fantasy, this show has something for everyone. Grab some popcorn and get ready for a delightful adventure—you won’t regret it

It's a Fun Watch!

I'm enjoying everything about this drama and wish they released the episodes even quicker.
Esther Yu is so funny and so many of her quirks are on display here bringing a natural mischievousness to the drama.
I just recently watched Moonlight and the ML and FL have great chemistry. It must have been fun to film, especially as second ML is also in both.
Highly recommended and expect it to get even better.

Cute and interesting storyline .

I was not planning to watch this drama but since I didn’t have anything to watch and i had already caught up on my already on going dramas , i decided to give it a go and to my surprise, i ended up loving it so much that i binge watched all the 9 episodes today .
The storyline is so cute and funny yet so interesting.
Esther yu is killing this role . I love her character so much . Ryan is doing so well too as always .
I hope they show us the modern world too after she completes the ancient game . And i‘m guessing mu sheng is the author of this poorly written story .

It has been on my list for so long! Loving it so far! The visuals ❤️

Ep 1 to Ep 11: So far this is going good. I immensely enjoyed all the interactions between the leads. It seems like Ding Yu Xi has good chemistry with all his co-stars. The more time spent on them the better for the drama because the second couple are very passive and nothing is happening there. I like both the actors but right now they feel like props, hoping that they are more fleshed out in the future episodes. The visuals are so good, from the clothing to the special effects. I especially love Ding Yu Xi's look when he goes demon!

One of my Favorite Watch this year!!

November is the busiest month for C-drama lovers, I’m currently juggling two shows and trying to start another!

IQIYI, WeTV and Youku really have a tight competition going on. With IQIYI’s “Fangs of Fortune” already sailing ahead, WeTV and Youku subsequently dropped their new shows “Love Game in Eastern Fantasy” and “The Story of the Pearl Girl” on the same day. While clamoring to handle two shows at the same time, I haven’t had time to start “The Story of the Pearl Girl”. Let’s get back to the subject at hand; “Love Game in Eastern Fantasy” is a transmigration romance between a bookworm who migrates into the novel she was reading and the evil second main lead. Unusual love story indeed; because in most transmigration stories, the main lead always transmigrates into the body of the main protagonist. Starring Esther Yu, Ding Yu Xi in their second project after “Moonlight”, the show heavily banks on their chemistry; provided in the first few episodes, they are just trying to annoy each other to death. The circumstantial dark humor is pretty hilarious; as our evil male lead spends a substantial amount of time harassing the female protagonist (in one such instance, he kills her repeatedly and each time, she is reborn to be thrust in the same exact situation). Their scenes are so funny and chaotic, only Esther Yu and Ding Yuxi could have portrayed these roles so effortlessly.

The Moonlight Trio reunite!

This has been one of the series I was dying for since more than half a year, and I have to say my waiting period was really worth it. I watched Moonlight for this show, and since I loved Moonlight, I knew I was gonna love this one as much!

Moreover, I really loved the storyline, and the kind of video game theme it has with the pixelated illustrations and really colorful and vibrant costumes for the characters. Yellow and black really suits Mu Sheng, Ding Yuxi rocked him exactly like in the manhua! Like always, anything cute suits Esther and especially the fact she could play her role as Lin Yu totally opposite to her original evil character as in the novel was really amazing! I was also looking forward to Yang Shize’s role here because I really loved his relationship with Ding Yuxi in Moonlight, and his role and character as Liu Fuyi is just as great!

The OST here was really one of my favorites. The song by the main casts, Esther Yu, Ding Yuxi, Yang Shize, Zhu Xudan, Fei Qiming, Li Yizhen and Lu Yuhao was really a great OST by the casts I’d heard in while. The MV: https://youtu.be/4w0JbGUNg8w
The cast SLAYED the dance and they were even better than the original girl group who did this song before!

Overall, the cast, the layout, Special FXS, the colors and the natural acting makes this drama one of the greatest fantasy dramas I’ve watched in a while. Totally recommendable to people who loved Moonlight and those who like a good novel+video-game theme!

review from OG novel fan!!

im actually very impressed with this adaptation !
they changed the part i didn't really like in the OG novel (when musheng basically lied to miaomiao and almost got her killed by the bamboo spirit...)
but the essence is still there!
original parts like father daughter relationship is also adorable!!
looking forward to new episodes
my expectation has risen haha

Of the female lead I don’t know why but her acting is meh and her voice is so annoying why does she speak like she’s a little kid super annoying she ruined this drama for me

FOR 5 YEAR OLDS

Adult acting like a 5 year old is a major turnoff. The main heroine acts ,dresses and sounds like a 5 year old.China should stop turning their heroine in 5 year olds. The story is same as those cheap short length series which airs every now and then.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
