I really wanted to like this series so bad, BUT

1) The beginning was a disaster what I tut Jethro would be great turned out to be a TOOL.

2) One of the worst love scenes I've seen in a BL series and that kiss good gaawd. Jethro looked like he was going to swallow Mario's face(his face looked like he has never slept with a guy before) as a shark and Mario's expression looked like he's constipated. Someone needs to teach these guys basic kissing 101.

3) Jethro has become tolerable, but now Mario is unlikeable. Act your age you are not in high school.

4) Mario needs to stop acting like a chick and tell Jethro what he wants. Guys are not mind-readers!

5) Not sure I'm annoyed or disappointed with how this is going.

6) The ONLY part I liked so far is when Jethro first took Mario home and Mario left his cell in the car and Jethro back up while Mario was dancing. THAT WAS REAL and couldn't fake that.

7) I do love the soundtrack, the only thing. Well maybe, Ron Angeles. ps I hate his hair color haha.

8) Finally watched the last two episodes, and had to drop points way down. I knew Jethro was sick from the second to the last episode, who wears a beanie in the Philippines, it's too hot and humid there. I'm not trying to be heartless but the crying moments were not believable. I had such high expectations of this series but the storyline fell flat.

9) Honestly, all I can remember about this series is the arguments that Jethro and Mario on all the episodes. I felt no happy times. And what was that ending? Was he alive or not, they didn't even show his face. Also, I don't know anyone that wanna put themselves on wanting to rewatch this.

Ugh. Painful.

Like many Filipino BLs, this one preached at us in an incredibly heavy-handed way in order to teach us life lessons that we really don't need.

The plot centers around Mario, yet another 12-year old girl trapped in a man's body who meets Jethro, a narcissistic asshole who lives in NYC at a party who is horrible, but because this is a BL, we know he'll instantly transmute into a wonderful guy and everyone will forget his inexcusable borderline-psycho behavior at the beginning.

Which of course happens. They go on, I believe, three dates, and thenJethro goes home and Mario pines for him for THREE YEARS, because he's an emotional infant and is unable to get over someone he barely knows. Later on, they get in contact, and Mario dumps his wonderful boyfriend Arnold in order to go visit Jethro, who, incidentally has a long-term boyfriend, in the hopes they will get together. It's not in the cards due to an almost ridiculous tragic external circumstance that involves someone who's into style and fashion not just shaving his head like a normal person would, and Mario goes home, years pass, and it's implied that Arnold shows up at the end to take him back.

Arnold is played by Ron Angeles, who has what I would have to call "it". He's attractive without being gorgeous, nice body without being chisled perfection, charming but unassuming personality, that adds up to a very compelling sum - it's hard to find people that don't love this guy, and he always seems to steal anything he's in. Jomari Angeles is adorable and a decent actor, but stuck in a terrible role playing a character so irritating you WANT him to suffer for his stupidity and immaturity.

Jethro is... there. The writing made him too awful at the beginning and the series wasn't long enough nor was the couple complelling enough (or at all) for me to ever care what happened to them.

The love scene was the worst I've ever seen. Jethro unhinged his jaw and attempted to swallow Mario whole, while Mario, oblivious to the danger, looked like he'd just chugged a bottle of pure lemon extract. It was about as sexy as either love scene in Pink Flamingos.

So what's the moral of the story? Seize the day and if you develop an unhealthy infatuation with someone you don't know who lives halfway across the planet, drop everything and abandon all your life goals to be with him. Otherwise you'll regret it and dump your perfect boyfriend to fly halfway across the world for no apparent reason to have a discussion you could have facetimed, but you were hoping to steal him from his long-term boyfriend because your a narcissistic asshole who hurts everyone around you. I guess the unintended moral of the story is that there is no God, or a comet would have struck the party in the first episode and spared everyone the misery of this story.

Story: 3 - pretentious and unbelievable, might have worked if Mario were 14, but not man in his mid-20s. Heavy-handed moralism that backfires.
Acting: 6 - Both Angeles were good, with Jomari stuck with a terrible character that he did his best with, probably about as good as anyone could have done with that material. Andrew Gan was very convincing as an asshole, but a little dull as a nice guy.
Music: 6.5 - not intrusive, but didn't really do much to enhance the series.
Rewatch: 1 - you'd have to threaten to electro-shock me slowly to death to force me to rewatch this. Fortunately it's short enough that I might survive a second viewing, but I'd still have to think about it.
Overall: 4.5 - I want to find something positive to say about this, but other than that they cast Ron Angeles, I can't think of anything, and even there they mutilated his hair.

Clunky, but Charming in its Own Way

Watching "Limited Edition" is an enigmatic experience. On one hand, it is emblematic of tropes that borrow from the BL genre laced with Filipino dramatic conventions. On the other hand, my favorite moments of the series use these to its advantage, particularly with the zaniness and colorful cast of characters.

I was propelled to watch this show by who occupies it way more than what actually happens. While the main characters Mario and Jethro (played by Jomari Angeles and Andrew Gan respectively) are charming yet confusing as they are, my intrigue was often drawn to the rather delightful cast of other characters such as the ever-witty Chona (played by Donna Cariaga), the maternal "touchstone" Mamita (played by Michelle Jhoie Ferraris), and the simple "nice guy" archetype Arnold (played by Ron Angeles). The series also brings in folks that I would consider "scene fodder," or those needed to make scenes happen without really adding things to the story, but I would honestly be interested to follow them given more character development. Overall, I think the entire cast could have used more character development and character purpose to anchor the theme of "growth," but in the words of a dear acting professor: "At the end of the day, the story was told."

And the story certainly did happen 😅The story may be the weakest pillar of the series, but I understood the acting and directing choices made to accommodate it. The plot suffers from two main characters that make not-so-ideal choices for themselves and others; this creates, in a sense, dramatic tension that is easily readable to the audience but can also turn the audience away from the main characters at critical moments. In an ideal re-telling, I would indulge in the moments where the show doesn't take itself so seriously (particularly shouting out that very zany sequence in the middle of episode 6 that is my favorite bit of the show) and imbue characters with more sensibility and understanding for one another.

Regarding re-watchability, I would most likely enjoy spending time watching highlights of the series rather than any episode in full, let alone the series in total. Nonetheless, I appreciated my time watching it and am satisfied with the experience I got 😊

And all things considered, I would consider this an unexpected gem! Sometimes all we really need in the time between "the next best BL" is a clunky but charming lower-budget production that gives us the laugh when we need a laugh and the aggravating "GOD WHY THE %@$& DID YOU SAY/DO THAT?!?!?!?" just to keep us on our toes.

A dumpster fire

"Limited Edition" had a terrible story, terrible characters, and horribly problematic "life lessons". It starts off with a disclaimer about how insightful the drama will be, which should have been the first red flag. It then introduces the main character Mario who is so emotionally stunted that he is unable to function in a normal relationship, and in later episodes it's revealed that he still has his mom clean his room for him. The other main character is Jethro, a creepy narcissist who doesn't respect Mario's boundaries or seem to realize that Mario needs someone who is capable of communicating like an adult. Jethro goes too fast for Mario, but then Mario falls for Jethro, but he never confesses his true feelings. Mamita, the local partier who thinks she's like a fun aunt, does nothing to help, so Mario has to rely on his friend Chona, who is annoying and doesn't do much else. Then there's Arnold, who can't take a hint when Mario turns him down on a dating app multiple times. Then, to make Jethro jealous, Mario dates Arnold, but doesn't tell Jethro that he's dating Arnold, then Jethro goes back to New York, and then Mario gets sad and becomes a vlogger, and then everything else that happens is of no consequence to the audience because at that point there's no use bothering to care about these characters.

If you like bad shows because they're funny to talk about, this is the show for you.

life is full of colours

this was my first review at MyDramaList. I felt those low rate review doesnt fully represent the whole picture. I tend to watch this by open minded. I did see some of my immature mindset and behaviours thats movie projected existed in my past relationship.

The most issue being projected in this movie is ego issue. We all have our expectation in love relationship and not all relationship can be work as we wish. We tend ask for perfection in our expected way. We all brought up in different culture and environment. We have different association with people. People around us shape our perspective.

The good ending of course lighten our heavy mood, but seeing whats others running the same path as we used to do. It showed that we were not the silly and foolish one.

I hope this will soothen many whose felt hurt and lost in such relationship and learn something useful by accepting this was happen to many of us. How we move on by accepting our ego was the big issue for most relationship. The love given from each sides has its own reason, perhaps we should watch it till end to reveal their each purpose.

I wish everyone could learn and remind ourself that we were not perfect, love is beatiful things and it will give different result if ego get involved. Hope most of us do not need to experience it to add our life in regret way.

The movie named as "Limited edition" as its theme of "limited of time" and "limited of choices", we will be in such dilenma situation if given such a shorten of time with limited confident how its will be turn out to be. So relax your expectation and enjoy the block of stroy that bring us to understand.

As it has coming Limited Edition 2, i hope those unfulfill happiness will be continue from there.

Filipinos, especially apparently some directors, put up a lot with womanizers and trans people of both kinds, and here in the first part there were dozens of them. Moreover, they do these people a disservice with hideous creatures, and they seemed to me like a swarm of annoying insects. They were joined by one apparently "real" woman, Mario's sister, and some scenes with her were long and even annoying for me. The two cute faces of the main actors partially compensated for it, I also understand Mario's behavior - even such people can be adults, moreover, apparently Mario was looking for "someone" for life and not just for a few weeks. Perhaps in the sequel, Ron Angeles will get more space, who plays the role of Arnold here (I remembered him as Olan from the series Ben X Jim).
1/15/2022 Yes, in the next episodes, Arnold is pushed to the fore, a love triangle is created and ... (I can't reveal more), the "pesky insect" disappeared, and after consideration, I raised the overall rating, taking into account episodes 6-9.

Science Ain't Sciencing #NoChem

The series is okay: its storyline is so-so; the script is inconsistent, there are times that I like their lines, sometimes I cringed with their nonsense throws; and, the acting is acceptable.

Each episode is filled with unnecessary fillers! Take for example: on episode one when gay trio entered and bullied other guests; the whole plot can move forward without them. They're not even funny. Lousy, repetitive, uninspiring, trite, insensitive jokes. Also, they really took 2 minutes of the show, and for what?

Let's talk about the characters:

Mario is an idealistic guy with victim complex. I don't understand where he gets the energy to blame it all to Jethro. Yes, sure, it's his past. But I get irritated with this type of character. I hate how shallow he is. (And don't start me with his 2-minute shower scene—another filler moment). Though, acting-wise, this guy's 8/10.

His love interest, called Jethro, a guy from New York with typical privileged ass and narcissistic tendencies. So, he thinks he did something. I cannot blame Mario for holding back when this guy was rude on their first meeting plus he's a blockhead for coming late on their first date—which is actually rescheduled since he's not available during the original schedule. Wtf. His acting reminds me of Sarawat (pls I forgot his real name) from 2gether, stiff and mediocre.

Perfect couple, I guess. I mean, sure both of them have flaws and all, but it was too much. And please, let's not lie ourselves...they don't have chemistry.

Meanwhile, the best friend, Chona (Donna Cariaga), has an ugly posture from carrying the whole show with her own back. Let's be honest, she's a scene stealer. There are times when I don't mind the romance between the main couple, I just want to hear her talk and watch her act. Her lines and acting is on-point, all out.

Additionally, Arnold (Ron Angeles), the G app boy, is such an eye candy. I love watching him. He's got talent in acting and he's got the looks, not gonna lie. At first, I thought, another handsome starlet with zero acting talent. But then, he proves me wrong. I want to see more projects from him. I hope, he'll get leading roles soon.

(Not gonna lie, Mario and Arnold would make a great couple. They have chemistry. Please. Their turo-turo date is cute while the ugly ass table cloth from The Manhattan could never.)

If this series will remove all the fillers, have Chona talk more, and pair Mario and Arnold instead...then it would be a top tier one. Don't get me wrong, Jethro guy was fine, it's just that he's stiff and lacks of eye contact plus inconsistent characterization makes it fail.

All in all, it was fine. At least, not the same bullshit as PILIkula of ABS-CBN. That show made me want to talk to a therapist.
