Good Enough

Korean Drama "The World of My 17 Season 2" changes cast but leaves things unresolved.

Keeping the same youthful, cute vibes, the second season of the web drama that explored the friendship between high school girls, takes a new approach, this time navigating the school politics and a school-themed love triangle.

The drama was light and adorable, keeping things simple, though it was implied that some characters had a darker background that had to deal with. Still, these subplots were not explored, leaving the viewer guessing what were their motives and their stories. Plus, the ending was also an open one, with those subplots being broadcasted, but not explained, adding more to the speculations for a third season.

Still, the drama is enjoyable, ending aside. It is short and entertaining and has feel good vibes. Also, the performances were decent by everyone in the cast and all of them did a good job portraying their characters,

So, overall, 6 out of 10.

Personally I enjoyed this season more compared to last season. But I may be biased because I am a fan of Yena. I watched the first season before I found out Yena was going to be the main character in season 2.

The recasted characters are surprisingly really accurate. I am super impressed at Jihan being recasted for Doah and she did a great job.

I really enjoyed the story progression and plot for Na-ri and Seungha. And honestly I really couldn't decide which pairing I liked better between the two main leads and Na-ri.

I loved the OST intro song by Weeekly and have added it to my playlist, but I thought maybe Yena would've also done an OST for this drama since she is the main character.

I was quite shocked to find out that the season only has 10 episodes when I was expecting 12, so to me the ending was quite a cliff hanger and there is most likely going to be a next season and if there won't be a next season then the ending as empty.

Overall I really enjoyed this and loved seeing Yena in her first acting role.

Highly recommend for a easy to watch drama, and if you do not like recasted dramas then I do not think it is necessary to watch the first season.

Short, fun, yet still deep

As a huge fan of the webtoon it was adapted from, The World of My 17 Season 2 didn't disappoint me. There was never a dull moment, the acting was fun, the plot felt very realistic, the chemistry between the characters was great to watch, and the pacing was actually done pretty well considering it only had 10 episodes. This season had bits of actual romance, but it ultimately still focused on Nari's development - which I liked. I didn't really have high expectations for this season, so I was even more surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

I also feel like I have to gush about Yena and how she portrayed Nari so perfectly. Her acting was so natural that it feels like she was born for this role! It didn't seem like she was a rookie actress at all. Even the supporting characters were also endearing. And while I enjoyed everyone's acting, I have to commend Lee Wonjung as Seungha. I could see him getting bigger roles in the future with how well his performance was in this. I was swooning every episode because of him.

Overall, I really appreciate how S2 was very loyal and accurate to the source material. This was something that S1 didn't really accomplish. Although S1 was still pretty enjoyable, I felt that it was lacking in many areas, and S2 was able to fill those. Fans of the Wookyung-Mirae couple from S1 might feel a bit sad since they didn't get that much scenes this season, but it was still nice to see them pop up in the story every once in a while.

Hopefully, there will be a S3 since the ending didn't really feel like a proper ending, the love triangle has a lot of potential, and all of the characters have intriguing storylines and backstories that can still be explored. I personally think the last two episodes were quite underwhelming, but the whole experience was still great.

Personally, I watched this drama only for Yena, Seonho and Jihan. Though, I might not understand the story of the second season so I watched the first season. I find this season way better than the first season. The first season was complicated and a bit cringy, I hated how so many changes they've done in the first season. The second season gave justice though. There were so many similar scenes from the Webtoon which I loved, of course changes won't be avoided but still better.

To be honest, the cast change was amazing. I never thought Jihan would perfectly suit Doah's character. Nari in the first season was supposed to be a shy one, someone who lacks confidence which Arin did well but the second season Nari fitted Yena more because she became chaotic and head over heels to Seungha. The cast change didn't mind me at all.

Let's start with the positive sides of the drama.
• Drama is very cute and refreshing. If you're done watching a thriller or a tearjerker drama then it will be nice if you watch a drama like this that is filled with cotton candy and sweets.
• Everyone did their role amazingly.
• The main point of the Webtoon is still here, they changed some scenarios but it is still the same story with same cause and effect.
• The OSTs are really fun.
• They made Yuna stay in the drama despite Boreumbyeol's tight schedule because of School 2021.
• Their chemistry.

Now, with the negative sides.
• It didn't really show why that cousin hates Nari. If I didn't read the webtoon, I'd be making tons of theories inside my head to why.
• The reason why there were a lot of noodles in Seungha's closet.
• Why was Seungha's mom hospitalized?
• Chanyang and his family problems.
• Wookyeong's lack of screentime.

Overall, I actually enjoyed this drama and I waited every week. I even purchased VIP in WeTV for this to show support to my bias. We don't know who the end game is yet (Even in the Webtoon) so I'm hoping that this will have season 3 with the same casts.

Went downhill fast.

Honestly it was good at first but it just went downhill from there. Normally I don't like cast changes but Yena and Jihan did a great job. This kdrama was a bit cringy at times but the acting is much better than first season. It seems like theres a few plot holes, I swear Mirae had already made her debut in the end of season 1 but in season 2 they acted like she didn't debut. Actually Mirae in general seems entirely different like we didn’t see any development she just started acting different she doesn’t call Seonji baby anymore or make funny random comments. I started disliking Mirae towards the end which is nuts because she was my favorite character before in season 1. Season 2 is honestly a bit better than season 1 and I think you could watch this and not miss the plot of season 1 , I would just watch this one instead honestly this could almost pass as a completely different drama, it seems entirely different but the same vibe. I like Chanyang so much his character is so good even if he doesn't show emotions very much Yoo Sunho did a great job even though I don't think that character is hard to pull off acting wise. The last episode had a weird time skip so it seemed off?? It could've been stretched into a few more episodes. I found Jihans portrayal of Seonji much easier to watch than Doahs. Some of the reviews said there could be a season 3 but I don’t see that being likely, it wraps up like its supposed to be the end but nothing was resolved? Theres nothing that seems like there would be a season 3 they wrapped it up like it's the end completely? But it’d make sense to have a third season. I still would recommend even if it was sort of lackluster in most areas. It's so short and i enjoyed most of the characters, just the plot falls a bit flat.

Webtoon Fan

I am primarily a fan of Odd Girl Out, the webtoon this is based on, so my review is biased.

I've seen the first season, and I did like Arin as Nari. But Yena was great too, and I can't say I preferred either one, they both portrayed Nari well. I also liked both Doah and Jihan as Seonji. It's weird at first to see a different cast, but both casts did excellently.

This season, as others have said, sticks closer to the webtoon than the first season did. I certainly prefer that. They definitely rushed the plot though, I think they could have told a really interesting story if, for instance, they had only focused on the publicity department storyline and nothing after that. But I like the story overall.

I wonder why they chose to have Yuna present in this season? I am curious about that.
Oh, and Mirae...the actress does well, but I think the editors could have done a better job balancing the audio as I always felt like turning down the volume when Mirae spoke!

The world of my 17 season 2

It is still cute and fun school drama. If you like Lee Won Jung in Hierarchy and want to see more then it is perfect - I think that you can even watch without first season.
So as I already mentioned first season - in my opinion it was so much better than second season. My biggest problem was cast change. As far as adding Ji Han was not a big problem or change, then changing main character to Yena......I am so sorry to her fans but her acting is not for me and I know it was her debut, but many idols debuting as actors did better. I loved this character in first season, in second I just could not watch it and there is no way to treat this character the same. It was better to just add new character.

Great For the Fans

Me and my cousin, both huge fans of the webtoon, decided to watch this webseries together, and it was awesome to see the quite literally come to life.
The characters didn't have the depth that the webtoon gave them, and some scenes were incredibly embarrassing to sit through. However, keeping in mind the fact that they had to put this all in 10 20-minute episodes, the show did a great job at portraying the events of the source material.
The idols and actors were amazing, so was the opening OST, and I look forward to seeing where they go in the future. Although the slight casting change was hard to adapt to at first, I think it was for the best, and they did an even better job than the original cast.
On another note, S1 and S2 do not match up at all! At the end of S1, Nari gets a boyfriend that never existed in the manhwa, and in S2 they act like none of this ever happened lol.
Overall was a super fun watch, but I am very biased having read the webtoon first; it most likely would have been much less enjoyable- and a little confusing-if I was not a fan of the webtoon itself.
