I. Love. This. Drama!

I normally do not write reviews anymore on dramas that have a truckload of reviews already… but I just have to for this one! This was so cute! I laughed (and cried a bit) through the entire drama! It was really good and very well done!

Storyline - was perfect! Well written and well executed. Could not have been better… at least for me. It was funny and had some heart to it. I did not skip a thing! I loved that they made the FL tough. Not some wimp who gives into everything and what people say. The only time she did that was…well not going to tell you. You’re just going to have to watch it for yourself!

Acting/Cast - I loved them all right down the the silent director! He was funny! But I really liked the FL. She did a great job. Ahh what am I saying… they all did. Just watch it!

Rewatch - duh! It was one of the best kdramas I have seen in a while. At the top of my must watch again list.

A romcom that makes you want to fall in love

Love To Hate You will likely be in my top 5 (if not number 1) of 2023 dramas. Honestly, romcoms are usually not really my thing. At most, the jokes make me smile a bit and the romance is often sweet but at times a bit toxic. In contrast, Love To Hate You made me laugh out loud at many scenes, and it features a mature relationship between adults who respect each other - something more dramas should aim to portray. Watching this drama made me think, "This is the kind of relationship I want", and it made me want to go out and find someone. My heart is a puddle and I think I need to go and recover now, it'll be a while until I find another kdrama this good.

Light, Girls power

I’m definitely enjoyed this Drama mostly because was light easy to fallow. It. The female carácter was very independent and with a great selfsteam which to my view teach the new generations of girls the basic points o being truthful to your self and mostly used your brain and work hard will take anywhere . I got that great message!!!
The love plot was easy “ boy don’t like girl, girl don’t like boy” however at the end loves wins no matter what !!!
As per the actors I’m sure the have fun making this Drama, production ok and writing and photography ok everything basic.
Perhaps my critics goes to a profound and the importance of being beautiful at the moment to choose the love of your life, beauty does not last, I don’t condemn people who defiere of my point of view however I’m sure some ugly people ( hard to define ) have achieved great in life.

The play girl and the man who only loved once.

Love to hate you was a quick and easy watch. No heavy crying here:)
It was a perfect combination of a funny, amazing cast, and a well-written storyline.

Characters: The girl is the epitome of a strong independent woman AT EVERY POINT. This isn't the type of drama wherein the girl is strong at first then when she gets together with the male lead, she just somehow ends up in situations she can't handle on her own. No no no. Amazing woman from the start till the end. As for the guy, he's not the type to be all macho, cold, and all that which we usually see in dramas. You'll see the bromance between him and his best friend which I think is a great addition to the drama to battle toxic masculinity in society. However, he IS (indeed) very distant from the entire female population. haha

Romance: All I can say is, a mature type of love. It was so easy for them to discuss things like how the guy admitted that the other girl was indeed his first love and how that girl was trying to rekindle their past relationship. There isn't unnecessary jealousy between them even with the fact that the guy is closely working with his first love (and mind you, it was his first and only love back then). On a different note, I love how they can calmly sit down and intently listen to the person talking about their concerns and why they wish to take things slow (aka. take a break).
Watch it so you'll know what I'm talking about then tell me if you also noticed it HAHAHAHA

To be honest, this is one of those dramas wherein both leads feel safe and secure in and with their relationship. They know that if it was up to them, there would never be a reason for them to break up. All in all, it was an amazing leisure watch. Comedy, action, story, and oh! Beautiful OST :) But then again, it's a kdrama. When has there ever been a Korean drama with uncompetitive music?

Last thoughts, I love how recently, there have been more and more dramas about idols and actors/ actresses. It somehow closes the distance between you and your idols. At first, you'll never imagine how a famous person gets into a relationship, but I feel like the recent trend of dramas about idols and actresses/ actors can be an avenue for fans to be more supportive of their idol's relationship.

What's there to love? To hate?

The first episode was a little weird, but it also felt nice when the FL gave them a lesson. It didn't take me long to get addicted! The second episode's misogyny was bizarre. When she requested more, only one woman was called in! The sound effects were good and added to the humor. It reminded me of the old-school romance K-dramas.
I read a comment that someone made and I couldn't agree more, I felt like the last 2 episodes were rushed. We didn't need a scandal near the end!

I really seemed to love the two main leads, because of how head-strong they were. But when they opened up, they were also nice and sweet!

What could've been better?
I really hated the sad reality that was shown after one scandal, most didn't want to be seen around that person without knowing the full details. Hate the negative news; there are or will be some people in your life who thrive on negativity, and I got the impression that those were the guys. It seemed like we didn't know much about the background of the second male lead; we only learned later who exactly the woman was who had suggested getting married if he would still be single in his 40s. Honestly, I hated the boss of that firm, because of favoritism when FL was announced to be dating the VIP client he started acting so kind towards her but when things didn't go as planned, he bashed FL.

Why not 9.5 or 10? Because I believe there were K-dramas released in 2023 that were better than this one, but it doesn't mean this one wasn't amazing. I felt that K-dramas normally only show 1 kiss scene, 1 date, then marriage and kids(optional), but this one showed more chemistry between them which I enjoyed very much! It was great, something I haven't seen in a while!

Should you watch it? Up to you!

Do first impressions matter?

Random youtube video recommends Love to Hate You. Finished it within 24 hours. I love that female lead is not dainty nor cute!

What I liked:
1) Do first impressions matter? - No love at first sight here. This drama is labelled as enemies to lovers because of Yeo Mi Ran's first impression of male lead Nam Kang Ho. I like that they started off as strangers who then needed each other's help. It's great that the animosity/negative energy didn't stay long because finding balance of push and pull in enemies-to-lovers drama can be challenging.
2) Pacing - This series was an easy & fun watch. I watched 5 episodes after dinner and finished remaining 5 the next day. I even gushed to my bestie that evening when we met for dinner.
3) Positive masculinity & male friendship - I love the camaraderie between Kang Ho and Do Won Joon. I like Kang Ho's reaction when his colleague caught him and Won Joon in awkward situation. Instead of making comments to avoid being labelled as gay, he was just cool about it. I also like that Kang Ho did not feel emasculated by Mi-ran's strength.
4) Mi-ran characterisation - She is no Mary Sue - she's cool, capable & confident but vulnerable. She's tough but she understands that being in male-dominated office presents challenges and she adapts to them instead of demanding special treatment.
5) Mature romance - I like the conversation that Na Eun and Won Joon had about disclosing friends with benefit. I really like Na Eun's response.
6) Health & fitness - I love dramas that feature sports & training so it's great to see Mi Ran and Kang Ho training for his upcoming role. I also love the stunt sequences. Kim Ok Bin is trained in martial arts. Thus her stunt coordinator scenes looked believable.
7) Kim Ji Hoon hair - wow so shiny and luscious. I love to "hate" him for this reason!

What I disliked:
1) I wish there were more romance plot for Na Eun and Won Joon.
2) Oh Se Na characterisation - I hate characters that like to play the victim.

Favourite scene
When Mi Ran was injured from stunt sequence. It's great to see Kang Ho started to care about Mi Ran.

Recomendo

Loved this, loved everyone by the end

I loved this drama. It's overtly feminist in its message, but manages to be so without obliterating or being unfair to men. There are a LOT of hunky blokes in this, and many lovely personalities. There are many men behaving badly, certainly, that's almost unavoidable, and they are common in any drama. But even the cheating ex-boyfriend redeems himself by the end.
There are annoying women, too, but no one is treated cruelly by this drama and we learn about the human side of even the rotters.
I found this drama predictably annoying in parts. That was inevitable because it is - as well as being engaging and witty and well made - something of an expose of the double standards applied to men and women in Korea (though it's just as true elsewhere). Some of that was hard for me to watch.
Despite all of that, this was a very satisfying watch. It's extremely well written ,with snappy dialogue and great chemistry between pretty much all the actors. Love that sort of thing.
This was as near as I can recall to giving a 10/10 for me.

A good mature-ish rom-com that will have you laughing and feeling the love.

I really enjoyed this one… the characters were extremely likable ( I was a little wary of Mi-ran at first but she really grew on me) I’m glad that this was an older cast.. It made the story a bit more relatable

The story line ( although a bit predictable) captured and held my attention. Although it’s nothing new… it’s certainly something that hasn’t been overly done. I loved the fact that the female lead differed from the normal “damsel in distress”. I found it refreshing to see an independent, self sufficient, strong beautiful woman who could not only take care of her self but could also physically defend herself if need be. She lived her life the way she wanted to and was unapologetic about it!

The relationship between the characters was the perfect build… not too fast and not to slow ….I also loved the fact that the main characters were all so supportive of each other Despite what others thought.
I loved their relationships and even found the supporting cast very likable as well. And OMG the eye Candy…Kim Ji-hoon and Yoo Teo.. need I say more! Also kudos to Kim Ok-bin… she played Yeo- Miran beautifully … a perfect casting if you ask me!

Although they touched on it briefly… I feel that I needed a bit more info on the relationship between Mi-ran and her father but…Overall.. I found this rom-com drama very refreshing.. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good mature-ish rom-com that will have you laughing and feeling the love!

What a fun RomCom!

A strong female lead with shades of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and Inspector Koo. The fight scenes are vigorous and necessary for the storyline.

The dialogue between the actors is on point, often hilarious and delivered with conviction. There is a hint of bromance and lots of slow burn romance that gets to a nice, adult relationship.

Friendship between the 4 main actors is lovely and supportive as the main lead's past dramas are revealed. lots of layers to the story had me bingeing the last 5 episodes. Heaps of laugh out loud moments, comedy, cringe, slapstick and acerbic wit combine to deliver good comedy.

I hope all these actors are cast into more opportunities in the future.

Equal amounts Romance and Comedy

Where do I start with this show? Love to Hate you is such a nice break from the other Rom-coms. Granted this has a lot of the cliches (lovers to enemies, contract dating, rich man poor woman), but they don’t force it unnecessarily where it would take away from the plot. It is a fast-paced quick watch and leaves you feeling satisfied.

PLOT:
I found it entertaining as hell. ML has ptsd from his last relationship that doesn’t allow him to have any skinship with woman without getting anxiety. He also has a very negative outlook on women in general due to his childhood and ex girlfriend. FL is a complete badass and also has very negative views on men. She is a strong feminist due to her dad being so sexist and is doesn’t like the double standards her society places on men and women. She dates a lot of lousy guys who are known cheaters to give them a taste of their own medicine.

ACTING/CAST:
The acting is top notch from the whole cast, I’m obsessed with the SML especially. I haven’t seen him since ‘Flower of Evil’ and if anyone’s watched him in that you know how good his acting is. The ML is so attractive and had these cute moments being an asshole one second and then this really shy dork in another. This is also my first time watching anything of his work and he left a great first impression (I really want to see him in an action movie now lol). Same with the FL, this was my first time watching her work and she didn’t disappoint either. You also won’t find the FL and her roommate annoying as they’re not some damsel’s in distress. 10/10 for the whole cast!

ROMANCE:
The leads’ chemistry was incredible. You get this a lot with older actors, but you can tell they felt completely comfortable with one another. The romance scenes were passionate and will have you giggling like a lunatic alone. They do not disappoint in this aspect! I kind of wish the second leads were shown getting to know each other sooner only because of how much I enjoyed their scenes too. His manager is such a heartthrob and had some of the funniest scenes. Her roommate was very relatable and super cute too. 10/10 in this department!

MUSIC:
Honestly I didn’t pay too much attention to this. They didn’t have that one song playing over and over again for every scene which was a nice change from other dramas. There was one I remember slightly being really good. I would say for simply not having an annoying soundtrack that’s over played, 10/10.

OVERALL:
If you’re even hesitating about starting this drama, just do it you won’t regret it. It’s a quick watch with only 10 episodes (I finished it in a day), and is fast-paced because of this. This is truly a rom-com done right and is a nice feel-good binge.

Everything is fantastic and cute EXCEPT given message

i have never watched FL's and ML's dramas before. So this was the first time I saw their acting and yess I enjoyed it a lot while I was watching. I finished it in a day!!!!
ML is so cute and handsome, FL is a confident character. Actually I love self-confident, brave, good fighter FLs but in some comments I read that this drama shows females who have lots of relationships just for fun are brave and powerful women. I thought about it a bit after I finished the drama and yes I think drama focus on that part a bit. Even though she tried to make cheating men feel the same, she uses her body just for nothing. then she become in those kind of men level. what does it change now?? She should have used a different method to make them suffer. I like how she defend women against men but I didn't like this thing. I love whole drama but didn't like this message given viewer. I don't think I explained myself very well due to my poor English but yes this is what I thought.

Also I think they showed it very well psychologically that the female lead character has bad relations with her father and is prejudiced against men, and the male lead role does not get along with his mother and has bad thoughts about her and is prejudiced against women.

Second leads were just perfect. They are also skillful actors and I like their story as well.
