Watched a super entertaining lakorn after so long.
Phew! What a ride. Three weeks runtime, and I just started watching last week, so just a week for me. This was such an interesting thing to watch. Fun and short, even too short. I wish we could've watched 2 or 3 more episodes of this. Anyways, let's dive into the drama.Story:
The story is rather complicated, even if enjoyable. It's enjoyable to see these wacky characters with messed up lives try to fix their lives but get into trouble instead. But just like some others have pointed it out, it's a little hard to understand in some cases. For example, I wouldn't and didn't understand some things unless I had read other people's comments over here. And it is a bit jam packed for a six-episode series. So much happens and unravels every episode way too fast. But that didn't prevent me from understanding the things that went down.
The characters & acting:
The characters were enjoyable and the performance of the main cast was great. Mote is very likable with his wit and humor. This is my second time seeing a character played by Off, and this time I liked the character way more than the previous time. Kat is super charming and fun too. This my first time seeing a character played by Jan and I'm fairly impressed. Same for Luis. Mond was great too. Even if I didn't like him before, I grew to like Sun by the end. I'm surprisingly attached to this cast now and it makes me wish this lakorn was longer just for this cast alone.
Music:
The music was fun. I got hooked on the OP song by the end and couldn't skip it more than twice. I didn't notice the background music always, but I think it was mostly decent.
Rewatch value:
This lakorn was very likable to me. So it's worth rewatching some time in the future, even if I might not do so myself.
Overall:
It was enjoyable and satisfying. I took a break from lakorns last year and this one made me want to go back to it. So I'd recommend it if anyone's looking for a short lakorn to watch with some comedy and mystery.

Definitely a must watch for anyone's drama list
Now this was a mini dark series we all never knew we needed before until the first trailer came out and the drama aired.Midnight Motel held a dark humor series with a great cast, for 6 episode it did not entirely disappoint, because of it's clever cinematography shots and a few calculated steps. The way the story is told through the characters is also interesting to behold. It just hits differently than most, as it also engages with the viewer. Because it has serious and dangerous moments and then a few breaks in comedy that breaks the fourth wall entirely as it's meant to do. And the coloring used works so well here.
Sun and Kat's past and the glimpse of Mote's too helped with the complexity of their roles.
Overall in 6 episodes it wasn't bad. It was able to include comedy, drama, and slight "romance".
I've got to say that even when it was supposed to be darkest... the humor got to me good, like when Sun and Mote were bickering in these final episodes. Their unusual partnership at some given point was fun to see.
Surprisingly this is the type of series that we all wouldn't mind having a few more episodes, but at the same time we are left somehow satisfied with the outcome of certain events and with an open aftermath of possibilities. It's a mini series after all. Not everything has to be completely build up and delivered in a platter, somethings are made to make us the viewers think like the characters and create our own theories while collecting all the hints in the plot. The clues are obvious but it's also entertaining because of the actors playing it. Sure, I would also like to see June in a nice jumpsuit and behind a few bars to pay the price for her crimes... but the show always focused on Mote and the others, so where he goes, it's where it leads.
Really loved seeing Off as Mote, but Mond stole the whole show as the dark broken Sun, and Jan as Kat was able to prove once again her acting versatility. As for Louis as Doi is probably a favorite now, and Neo iconic appearance in two scenes will forever be remembered. Kudos to Victor, Pae, and Mew for their roles. The whole cast and production team deserve a praise.
The Ost and music through the episodes was okay, I really liked the intros and glitch theme vibes. The texts in the scenes could be deemed annoying in certain dramas but given the theme of this drama they worked in most parts, like when Mote explained his plans or the business app. But nothing tops the over the dead body conversation, that one was genius, CHEERS to that.
Well.... nothing besides the poker game that Mote had with June for the final deal.
That was a fun scene to see, it's these type of creative scenes are what makes this drama special.
Face this as a "light" mini drama to watch between your current on going dramas.
Don't take it too seriously it was never intent to be that way, I mean it's a parody.
Enjoy it for the cast, for the cinematography, for their plot holes and twists and dark vibes.
For all that and more, Midnight Motel is definitely a must watch for anyone's drama list (o゜▽゜)o☆
( ̄y▽ ̄)╭ PS: And let's not forget for all of those who watched Not Me, in here Sean actually defeats Tawi xD

It's about the circumstances...
What would you do if you and your friend are caught up in a multi million dollar debt, being chased around by a hoard of gangsters and a very handsome club owner who just so happens to also be your creditor? You would inadvertently end up creating a comedy of errors.
It's made very clear from the beginning that the lead of the series, Mote, is a victim of his circumstances. He has his rag tag team of friends who have similar situations and their solution is to come up with a "risque" app to get out of this. Obviously, this leads to murder mysteries, murderous henchmen chasing our heroes around and a whole lot of threats. Nothing exactly new or ground breaking.
The charm of this series comes from the circumstances. The lead trio somehow always find themselves in comical situations, and this is not slapstick humour... The comedy is so subtle that it gives the drama life without taking away from the fact that this is not exactly a comedy. Add to all this a very handsome but kind of psychotic Sun (played to perfection by Mond might I add), and you've got yourself a top notch show.
I would recommend it to a friend.

You can count only on yourself!
I must confess, I played games through most of this drama. Don't get me wrong it was well written, well acted and directed! And predictable! It is a story of David against the Goliath, of little people trying their hardest to get free from the rich and powerful stepping on them like they were worthless. They rebel and use their street smarts to bring the rich down! See, nothing new or unpredictable! The poor people think and make twisty plans, the bad guys betray others, the rich manipulate and kill and then buy their way out! Eventually they get their comeuppance. And the poor get to leave and drive into the sunset.
How does one break free from the initial position into one is born? You try to survive honestly but the corruption is all pervasive within the society so you scheme, cheat, gamble or sell your body! Unfortunately once you go down that road it turns out to be a slippery slope and to get off of it, you have to use your brain and be smarter than those owning this slope.
There is, of course a hooker with a heart of gold forced into selling herself by her irresponsible mother who falls for a smart but poor good talker motel receptionist! This is the plot of hundreds of movies and series. A classic!
Is there anything different here? No! Still, it is enjoyable enough if you are not expecting too much of it!
Of course, there are a few things that make you wonder. Like, for example, why is this motel so empty! And I do not mean only guests but staff, furniture: it looks like a ghost house! Where is the police or do they just come when they need to pick up their monthly bribe? Why does the bad boss come all alone without the backup close by?
The acting was excellent! I usually do not like Off and I do not like him in BLs. Here he was surprisingly good. He played Mote, down to earth guy, just trying to survive by using his brain . He was actually perfect for this role: he looks like a brainless idiot when actually he is very smart and manages to get the upper hand with all of the bad guys in this series. Mond playing Sun, a tragic, tortured soul who has completely lost his way, was excellent. He managed to show the vulnerability and cruelty of the character with the same intensity. The other evil characters are the usual clichés: a tattooed street thug, a rotten policeman and their cleancut rich boss/owner!
There were a few side characters bringing warmth into this cold environment: Motes Aunt and Uncle who, though perfectly aware of Mote's flaws, still support and love him unconditionally.
The story was well written and the pacing was good, never a dull moment(only six episodes and they used the time given without wasting it!). I liked how they staged phone conversation as a face to face over a poker table or an imaginary talk with a dead person? Quite original! The music was appropriate for a crime drama.
Midnight Motel is a short crime drama. Not too exciting because predictable but still a solid watch.

Not really worth your time.
My favourite part of this was the music, it slapped so hard. Unfortunately, the rest of the series didn’t reach the vibe of the music. There were so many plot holes in this, and the story wasn’t fully fleshed out to make it feel satisfying by the end. I got very bored in a lot of places, and only really kept watching for the cast.
I love Jan and Louis, and the little Neo cameo was such a lovely surprise. I also really liked the concept, but I think this series needed more episodes to allow time for more depth and interesting plot points.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this to people.

Dumb Shit
After watching this, what I have to say is that either the scriptwriters are total dumbasses or they didn't really mean this to be a sensible drama. The story is so full of plot holes that even a dumb person can detect them. I enjoyed the first two episodes (or I wouldn't even have finished this). But as the story moved on, it became more and more senseless. I can't really say that this drama is predictable, coz no sane person would expect such idiotic plot twists anyway! Some of the characters' actions made me wonder what the fuck is going on! Like, when a person died, they were so fucking calm! Not even one character had even one active brain cell, they left me speechless. Anyway, I had a good laugh watching this dumb shit.
The cast was excellent, though. They managed to make the most of their scripts and put in performances that would leave audiences laughing even when there was not much substance. They also had good chemistry on screen. But I hope they choose better scripts in the future. This drama is a waste of the actors' talent.
Anyway, talking of chemistry, Off's and Mond's was the best! I wanted more scenes with them. I was almost shipping Sun with one of the three main roles! I hope my poor boy, Mond, will get many main roles in the future (with, of course, better scripts).
Talking of rewatch value, I'd rather not even hear this drama's name again. Overall, this just wasted my precious 5 hours. Honestly, it wasn't even worth watching for the cast. If you wanna watch them, there are some of their better projects out there. This drama is just a solid NO for me.

AN UNDERRATED GEM!!!!
i thought of watching this only because of its cast. as its score is only 7.8, i had low expectations. but let me tell you THIS SERIES DESERVES MUCH MORE ATTENTION AND HYPE!!!!!!!! that score doesn't do the series justice at all!! the cast is amazing, all of the actors have great acting and chemistry. the plot is exciting and very straight to the point. it only has six episodes so there are no filler scenes or unnecessary characters interrupting the storyline. there are no seconds-long stares or silly dialogues. the story just flows. i love everything about this. if you think of watching this but have doubts because of the score or comments, let me tell you DON'T HESITATE NO MORE AND JUST WATCH IT!! it is THAT good. Was this review helpful to you?
"Midnight Motel" does a great job at balancing comedy, fluff and seriousness. There was never a moment in which comedy seems forced. All the characters have great chemistry while mantaining their own personality in a charming way. I love every character, even the minor ones that do not get a lot of screentime.
The cast was chosen well, every actor/actress is able to bring life to a character, making them feel like real people. Every character has their own flaws without making these flaws the only trait they have. Even the "bad guys" are not written as only bad people. And this is something I personally really enjoy.
I like the soundtrack. It's not special but it fits the concept and "completes" the series in a good way.
If I had to recommend a short series with a good story and good comedy that doesn't feel out of place; I would probably recommend this series.

Fast-Paced and So Much Fun!
This show was SO fantastic, from the beginning all the way to the end! I don't think there was a single moment I wasn't enjoying myself and just itching to know what happened next. The plot was incredible. It was fast-paced, entertaining, and surprisingly complex for a mini-series. Mote was an intelligent main character who got wrapped up in some rather unfortunate circumstances— honestly, it was so nice to watch a show like this and not be annoyed by the MC's stupidity! Mote was smart and was able to think his way through, which was awesome to see. All of the characters were interesting and fleshed out (Kat and Sun were both SO interesting, and I could have watched a whole show just about them and their backstories). The writing was pretty solid, as well.
As far as acting went, I think everyone did a great job. I will say, Mond really shined in this, though! He is so freaking incredible as an actor and played Sun beautifully— I could practically feel every emotion Sun felt during the whole series. Mond is an amazing actor, and I cannot wait to see him in more interesting roles like this!
All in all, this was such a hit! Definitely one I will want to revisit one day, and I would highly recommend it.

Sun and Kat’s story is heartbreaking and my favorite thing in the story. I wish we could have seen more of why and how Sun went from point A to point B. You could probably deduce why he ended up being the way he is from the backstories, but I still would have liked to see more of the in-between of what happened to him between when Kat left when they were kids to when they finally meet again as adults.
Mote has a touching backstory as well, but I couldn’t get into his character because of the comedy.
This is a good effort by GMMTV. I’m glad they continue to try different stories and genres.

So Refreshing
I got so into the series as soon as I started watching the first EP. I love the visuals, camerawork and those numbers appearing. The cast was exceptionally good, as were characters themselves. Loved the psychopath and the main character. They tried to make Doy the typical IT nerd in glasses, but added more depth than it's normally done. The soundtrack caught me off guard with how catchy the songs were. The romance was very believable, I liked them together. The whole vibe reminded me of Baby Driver, especially when both are very chaotic, but I liked it more than BD, because it was more complicated and resolved with fineness. Midnight Motel is so far the only series in my favs that's not a BL.
I definitely recommend watching it and cannot wait for the rest of the Midnight Series.

Not the best, but still entertaining
prefacing this by saying that out of the 6 episodes, I properly watched 1-4, and 6.Going into this drama knowing it was only 6 episodes, I wasn't expecting much, and I got exactly that. Though, I will say that it still managed to disappoint me.
The story started off rather promising if I'm being honest; the leads meet, and they create an app, so naturally I thought that app would end up being the focus of the show with the drama stemming off from that, but I was wrong.
maybe 2-3 episodes in, the whole app concept thing is practically left in the dust as it now focuses on some murder and other relationships that didn't nearly have enough backstory for it to justify their significant presence.
I won't go into much detail as to what else made me annoyed as that would spoil too much, but to summarise, 8/10 situations could have been solved using common sense and survival instincts.
Acting was alright, I've only seen 2 other T-Dramas prior so I don't have the right to judge much, but it did feel exaggerated at times.
minor elements such as cinematography and sound we're all good, J-Drama has something to learn from them haha.
TL;DR it's an alright show for killing time.
