Sweet and funny with lovely characters

Let me just start off by saying that I wasnt sure if I would actually like this series when the trailer first came out bc Im usually not a fan of high school bls. I decided to give it a try after 6 episodes were already aired and I was simply blown away!

The chemistry of Fourth and Gemini was off the charts. The storyline has been done before, yes, but it was still really nice and they made it feel fresh. Too many times we see unnecessary drama and toxic things going on between couples in bls, but this one, literally the most minimal conflict, but when there was conflict, there was COMMUNICATION. Such a wild concept for bls for the characters to actually communicate with eachother and help eachother through struggles they experience. I am also not a fan of super cringy stuff, but they pulled off all of the silly, comedic relief scenes flawlessly with very minimal second hand embarassment and most of the time had me actually laughing rather than cringing.

Overall if you like sweet, light-hearted, and silly dramas with characters that just love eachother unconditionally, def give this one a watch!

I might add more to this later, but thats it for now♡

Such a fluffy BL

Feb. 24, 2023

OMG ANOTHER DRAMA I FINISHED during my one week long break from school.

My School President is such a fluffly bl that contains very generic and cliché troupes. However, what separates them from other show is how they execute everything in such a good manner. I feel like they really put forth effort and incorporate the cliche in a way where it isn't as cringey as Thailand's recent BL releases.

My School President is definitely one of the best BLs in my opinion that has been released for the first quarter of 2023. Tinn and Gunn's relation is an epitome of what a healthy relationship looks like. I love how they do not tolerate miscommunication and try to fixes any problems that arises. Furthermore, they are so mature for their age and I can't say that to other BLs. Like full on shade to those shows I dropped but I can't stand someone being so fking immature with no character development.

Also both main leads are such green flags. I am wishing for what they have cause it honestly makes me so jealous.

ALL IN ALL WATCH MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT RIGHT NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY

Set the right expectations to enjoy an overload of Cuteness (maybe a small dose of cringe)

Subjective Gut Rating - 8.25

For someone like me who is a little older (not necessarily wiser LOL), I need to be in a certain mood to watch “My School President”. It’s pretty obvious the target audience is a lot younger than me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it. I just need to know what to expect and be in the right mood.

Current situation: (when all the ducks are in a row for success):
* I need something light and easy to watch
* I want something fluffy and a lot of romance
* I know this is a high school drama targeting a younger audience
* I expect a lot of comedy and I am OK with Thai comedy - similar to understanding Japanese unique humor to watch dramas adapted from manga and anime
* I expect to see a lot of product placements

Now that the stage is set for me, I can sit back, enjoy and appreciate this highly rated teen drama.

What I Like:
1. Gun aka Fourth - He is so adorable and he knows it. I want to pinch his cheeks and give him a big hug. He’s the star of the show. He made me want to check out “Moonlight Chicken”.
2. Fourth is also the best actor in the whole series among the young kids.
3. Gun and Tinn have good chemistry and are cute together.
4. I like how Tinn supported Gun throughout the drama, despite wanting to be in a relationship right away. He held back, and did what’s best for Gun. I am a sucker for someone who does a lot behind the scenes for their loved one.
5. What a rare sight to have supportive parents. The two mothers love and support their son differently but always have their best interest at heart. Tinn’s dad is hilarious and is an unknowing (or knowing) wingman. I wanted more of him.
6. I love the quiet conversations that Gun and Tinn have throughout the dramas. These moments are so intimate and bring them closer to each other. They seem so mature when some of the more serious topics are shared during these moments.
7. I like most of the funny and supposedly seductive moments (80% of the time).
8. Tiwson is the best wingman out there.

What I have Mixed Feelings:
1. Aside from Gun/Fourth, I find all the other young actors acting to be below average to average.
2. The songs are a mixed bag - there are a few that I really like but a few don’t seem to be catchy enough for me. Best voices to me - Gunn’s mother and Por/Ford. I do appreciate the actors singing the songs themselves.
3. Yak (music club senior) is annoying and has too much screen time for my taste.
4. I guess the music club no boyfriend rule only means no openly announcing to everyone, but secretly dating is ok?
5. Although I appreciate the lack of homophobia among students, it’s still sad that we couldn’t get away from adults having this problem.
6. The side couples and side characters storylines could have been better.
7. I can’t help but still cringe at some of Tinn’s cheesy flirty lines. It’s a little too much and over-the-top when he’s coming on so strong.

Overall, I had a good time watching this drama. It’s so different from the chaste/clean high school C-dramas. The flirting in this drama is at a whole different level. Either you find it funny or you find it too cringey. But through all these comedic moments, there are serious topics explored. I recommend you have the appropriate expectations before watching this. Otherwise, it might not be an enjoyable ride.

A cute Thai BL but with a sad ending.

The casting of this series is excellent, showcasing a talented ensemble of actors. However, the ending left me feeling somewhat disappointed and a bit melancholic on a personal level.

I had initially regarded this series as a softcore production, mainly due to the scarcity of NSFW scenes throughout its episodes.

I genuinely adore the show for its captivating storyline, compelling character development, and outstanding performances by the cast.

In addition, I wholeheartedly recommend exploring this segment on Our Skyy 2.

Most Musical MUSICAL Series I've seen so far

This series may sound like your typical rom-com series but that's where I was wrong. Well, plot-wise kind of typical but it won't disappoint.

This series is what I wished my highschool life could've been. There are so many lessons from this series and it's not only lessons about love but literally lessons about dreams, career, friendships and the reality that gay people experience.

What I loved the most about this series is the music. Every episode, there is a new song/OST for you to be obsessed with. And it's not just some cringe-ass music that was put there as a filler but literally a whole lot masterpiece that is very connected to the plot of the series.

I recommend this series so much especially if you're looking for a non-stressful series because life's already f**cking you up and you want something that is stress-relieving. This series also have the HEALTHIEST relationship that I've seen so far. (Such as immediately resolving conflict like jealousy and giving assurances when it's definitely needed without begging for it.)

I recently finished watching My School President, and I was very pleased with the lead actors' acting abilities. I was interested in the story throughout the entire series because the plot was so well-written. I appreciate how Germin assists Fourth with his music and academics. The two main characters' chemistry was also apparent, which made watching their scenes together even more fun. For anyone who enjoys a good coming-of-age tale with heartwarming moments, My School President is a must-watch. The dynamic between Fourth and their friends is fantastic, and it's endearing to see how they encourage one another in their individual goals. It's amazing to see how Germin's direction and support helped Fourth develop as a musician, and the song is so catchy.

How to do a BL series set in a high school

This ought to be a model of sorts for how schoolboy BL series should be made. It is lighthearted and cute without being frivolous. It doesn't resort to representing toxic behaviors to "entertain". It may seem like an enemies-to-lovers story at the start, but it soon becomes obvious that there is no real enmity between them.

The charm of many BL series featuring characters of high school age lies in the innocence of the characters, but that's also where it is all too easy to go wrong. Sometimes the characters are too immature, but not here. To be sure, there is a lot of comedy and even silly behavior. However, what Tinn does for Gun is sweet and touching. It's also a good thing that this is revealed in bits throughout the series and not dropped like a bomb at the end of the story because it helps us appreciate the goodness of the character.

But for a BL series to be done right, it is not just the love story or the main characters that counts. The secondary characters matter too. I appreciate the portrayal of Tinn's group of friends as well as Gun's bandmates. In particular, Tinn's endlessly supportive friend, Thiu, is a delight. I also love the contrast between Tinn's and Gun's mothers. Tinn's mother (the school principal) seems strict and cold while Gun's mother is casual, and it's clear which parent may pose an obstacle to the leads' relationship later.

If I have to fault the series for anything, perhaps it would be in the couple of instances where it tries a tad too hard to be more serious, such as with Gun's mother becoming very ill, Tinn's mother suspecting something about their relationship and the homophobia some members of the school community exhibit when Tinn and Gun's relationship is exposed. These parts of the series, which come quite late, are double-edged swords. On the one hand, they present great opportunities to showcase the characters' development. On the other hand, given the predominant lightheartedness of the series, we more or less know how things will turn out so the seriousness doesn't really get that serious. Towards the end of the series, the series does the equivalent of someone blowing a balloon and letting the air out before it gets really big and then repeating the process a few times.

Despite the slight flaws, My School President is probably amongst the very best high school BLs ever made. It has the lighthearted charm of a series like 2gether but without so many of the flaws. It may make one miss one's high school days but it also portrays youthful insecurities quite sensitively--I particularly love the scene where Tinn's mother is about to ask him about his relationship with Gunn and, despite his love for Gun, he is so tense and frightened that his mother feels bad for him decides to change the topic. (Well, she has the answer without him saying it).

I love Gemini and Fourth and wish that they will not turn out just be a one-BL-series pairing.

The new benchmark for BL series

I don't know who's the same as me but when GMMTV first revealed that there will be a school bl series this year, honestly speaking, I wasn't very interested because there has been soooo many school bl series, including overseas bl series too. But I decide to watch it because I'm a big fan of GMMTV and their artists, but I wasn't sure at first because to me Gemini and Gun were new actors, and I was a little reluctant to watch it.
But after watching F4 Thailand and I saw Gun in there as Gorya's brother, I was like "he's acting is pretty good and natural".

So I watched it because
1. I saw Gun's acting in F4 Thailand and felt interested
2. Gemini was quite good looking
3. The other actors were all supporting leads in other series and I like them alot

When I started watching it, ep 1, holy crap, it hit me so badly that the series was freaking good. Like it has alot of tiny actions that shows how much Tinn actually likes Gun, like when he started observing the changes he had over the holidays. And how they started become rivals because Gun felt threatened. But I think the main eye-catching point of the whole entire show is the humour and the songs.

I wasn't expecting that many songs coming from a series, especially a bl series. It was literally like High School Musical, but Bl Version. And not gonna lie, Fourth, Gemini, Ford and Satang has very beautiful voices, like why is GMMTV hiding them, show them out to everyone man. I personally can't pick a favorite song from the show itself, because every single one of them is a masterpiece, both cover and their own songs.

The story also has a very good flow, not too rushed or too slow. And they not only mainly focus on the story of the couples, but the one thing I love about the story plot is how they included friendship and relationship with their families. Like it's so relatable to any youth nowadays, the pressure and stress we all experience, especially for people who are coming out (in the last ep), it shows how there are people who accepts but also people who do not understand. It's very relatable to real life context, which makes the whole show even more enjoyable.

The story on their friendship is very genuine and nice, we can also see how good their chemistry is with each other. I personally like the scene where they were contemplating between their dreams and studies (their future) because that's a problem that I have too, but I love how they actually chose dreams because they're not just a club of members, but they are literally family.

Their relationship with their families also says alot. The scene where Gun wanted to give up on his dreams just to give his mom a better life, how he didn't want to disappoint his dad and how he told his mom to not leave him alot really just made me cried so badly, like we can literally see how much he treasures his family and he's relationship with his mom are like besties, his mom supports everything her son does. Tinn with his parents are also very cute, initially I felt that Tinn's mom was controlling her son, but after completing the whole show, we can see that it was just her motherly love, she wants best for her son, and when she learnt that her son likes Tinn, although she wasn't expecting it, but what made me love her was the fact that she was willing to learn and accept it.

Lastly, the cute relationship between Tinn and Gun, although every bl series has very cute couples, but TinnGun was especially cute. It's the way how Tinn doesn't want anything in return but only wants to help his boy.

Sodium Radium Potassium!!

My School President was the first thai bl I watched and I think it was a very good start in the genre.

What I liked:
- First of all... the music was an absolute delight. Every song was very good and fitting, my personal favorite being the first opening main theme.
- Gun/Tinn is probably one of the cutest couples I have ever seen. From start to finish they delivered with insane chemistry, cuteness overload and some of the funniest scenes I have seen in a while. I love how Tinn is normally very smart but in the presence of his crush he just loses all his braincells. Gun being so oblivious to Tinn liking him is also very charming and funny. He is just a silly little guy and I adore both of them very much.
- I really enjoyed the u-turn of Tinn's mom. While watching I never really liked her and tbh she kinda got on my nerves but in the last episode she really surprised me.

What I disliked:
- I really really did not care about Win/Sound. Like it's not that I disliked the stand-alone characters I just really did not enjoy them as a couple.
- It really was just the Gun/Tinn Show. Which obviously isn't that bad considering how insanely well they work together and how cute they are. And also they're the main characters so clearly they have the most amount of screentime and development. But almost every other character fell flat. And I don't mean that they're bad or anything just.. kinda there. The only other characters I really enjoyed were Thiuson and Gun's mom.

I still can recommend My School President with all my heart. It truly was a great experience.

Simple Typical School BL

**Brief Synopsis**
B (Student): Gun
T (Student): Tinn

- Beginning: B and T are both students at the same school. B is member of a band and T is school president. B’s band will have to disband if it doesn’t contribute to the school unless he can get T to agree for them to stay. B seems to think that T doesn’t like him very much and won’t help him keep his club, but T actually has a crush on B. But B is oblivious to a lot of things so doesn’t realize when T is helping him. But in order to get his club authorized, B perseveres, appearing more and more in T’s vicinity.

- Middle: Still pretending that he doesn’t feel a thing for B, T continues to help B, explaining to B he’s only helping him win an important music competition is because of the school’s reputation. He even offers to tutor him when B asks him. And the more time they spend together, an attraction starts to develop and B starts to feel something for T as well. From that point onwards, we start feeling some tension between the two. After a while, T is unable to pretend he feels nothing and finally confesses to B who says he feels the same way. But there is an issue that B can’t date before the competition is over.

- End: After the competition, they start to date officially. They wanted to keep it on the down low but when a photo of them kissing is uploaded, they become known school wide. B is bothered when not everyone reacts positively to it but T reassures him that they will always be together. The series ends with them coming out to T’s parents and having their first kiss.

**My Opinion**

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT:
- The actors look really good together because both of them are really good looking.
- I actually like how awkward T is at the beginning because he doesn’t want his crush to show but he doesn’t know how to interact with B. And he can’t confess because he knows B can’t date until he wins that music competition. So he invents a reason for him to help them.
- I actually like the tutor trope even if it’s super cliche. B has to pass his exams to continue to do his music so T agrees to tutor him.
- I like the concept of T acting like a love sick idiot when he thinks of B and immediately turning emotionless when B enters the room (he also acts as if B was bothering him when he’s really happy about B’s presence). If only T was better at acting like a love sick idiot. His acting only makes it look weird and a little cringey.
- I absolutely loved how T would carefully touch B’s hand, afraid B would reject him. It’s super romantic.
- The comfort thing is also a cliche but I love how it got them to hug.
- I love the subtle signs of affection such as holding hands in secret because they cant really be obvious about it.
- I love how it’s relatively angst free.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE ABOUT IT:
- The acting is truly horrible at times. Reactions and expressions of anger or joy are exaggerated and unnatural. Sometimes the acting is too plain, emotionless and other times way too exaggerated, borderline cringey.
- This is a typical school romance, meaning things happen to serve the plot and not because it makes sense. For example, what normal school has ball dancing class as a class you have to take? It’s only there so the leads can dance together.
- The romance is really slow burn meaning things progress really slowly. In the beginning episodes, all we know is that T has a crush on B but we don’t see any signs of that except for a smile or two.
- I didn’t like the singing or the songs, but some people liked it so this is mostly a “me” thing.
- The whole “T wants to confess to B that he’s the one he likes but every time he tries to confess, he gets interrupted, leaving B to believe T likes someone else” plot is simply cliche and lazy writing. It serves no purpose other than extend the run time.
- The show spends way too much time showing random high school stuff like gym class or eating lunch. It makes the show seems longer then it needs to be because those scenes are really boring.
- This show is really tame when it comes to intimate touches, because of the no dating rule, B and T don’t even kiss even after confessing their feelings. But they do flirt which is cute. They haven’t kissed and B’s mother already know about them.
- There are a lot of cliche tropes in this show so don’t expect any memorable moments or plot twists.

**Conclusion**
This is an okay watch that I won’t revisit.
