The best horror this year
Alright, let's talk about "Revenant"First things first, this show is seriously intense! It's got murder, mystery, and enough plot twists to make your head spin faster than a merry-go-round. I couldn't tear my eyes away for a single second!
The main character, Park Min-woo, is a total badass detective with a dark past. He's on the hunt for a creepy serial killer, and let me tell you, these murders are like something out of a horror movie! They had me on the edge of my seat, screaming, "Who did it? Tell me, damn it!"
The suspense is off the charts! Every episode leaves you hanging, dying to know what happens next. And just when you think you've cracked the case, BAM! They hit you with a mind-blowing twist that leaves you shook.
The cast is brilliant – they bring their A-game to the table. You'll be rooting for the good guys, booing the bad guys, and constantly changing your mind about who's behind all the chaos.
Visually, "Revenant" nails it! The dark and eerie vibe adds a whole new level of creepiness. I swear, I felt like I was right there, investigating the crime scenes myself!
And let's not forget the psychological aspect – it's mind-boggling! They dive deep into the characters' minds, uncovering secrets you never saw coming. It's like peeling back layers of an onion – you never know what you'll find!
In a nutshell, "Revenant" is a rollercoaster of emotions.

I enjoyed it but….
There were some things that really, really, really bothered me about the show one was that he knew she was possessed by spirit an evil spirit. This evil spirit wanted to kill people, she would have black outs and the spirit would take over and kill people, yet he still allowed her to wander around and not try to keep a better eye on her. The other thing is that he would tell her not to become involved or more involved and kept trying to like tell her to go away. If it were me, I’d have her sleeping at my house to keep an eye on her, and to try and keep the evil spirit from having its way, and going out in committing murder not telling her to go away and not become involved lol. Also he could see the impact he was having on the female his mental well-being, so you think that he would not want her to be alone either. So I just didn’t understand his thinking at all.Another thing that really bothered me, was about the ghost companion because he made a comment at some point about the male lead being the reason that he’s the way he was and I was like it’s not his fault that his grandma killed you and it’s not his fault that you were a greedy and coveted in what the ML had. So it was never explained really to me why that kid thought he was the reason that he wants the way he was.
Also, when the male he was explaining to the female lead about how ghosts are attracted to people who struggle with the more negative emotions, like guilt, anger insecurity, depression, jealousy etc. this didn’t make sense to me because I was like everybody feels this way to some degree or another. When his ghost companion sacrifice himself on the bridge, when the male lead devastated, having learned his family’s involvement in creating this evil spirit. I’m like anyone feel devastated and guilt ridden in those circumstances. Although I did find it hilariously funny when his ghost companion was thrown over the side of the bridge, I would’ve like it to have had it explain where they took him.

Interesting story
The story got me hooked since episode 1 and so far at episode 6 I'm still really enjoying it. It's fast paced, intruiging and the FL and ML are doing an amazing job actingwise. I tend to fastforward a lot or watch in 2x the speed, but I haven't been fastforwarding with this one so that's definitely a good sign.I think this show is at least an 8.5 or 9 out of 10 so far. It's underrated at the current 8.2, especially compared with some other shows that are currently airing and rated higher but are much less watchable in my opinion.

i watched the last episodes at night, not sure it was a good idea lol!
The gloomy vibe, the ACTING everything was on point!!! and at times, humans can be scarier than ghosts.i always wonder how Kim Hae Sook manages to play those villians roles so well, i really got the dark vibes and goosebumps from her once again , kudos to her!
Even if you don't like Kim Tae Ri for any reason, you have to give her credits for her acting, like yes the girl can act! since they didn't use any make up or whatever to differenciate San yeong from the ghost, it was crucial for her to use her facial expressions to nail it and she delivered!
Hong Kyung ( the young police officer), omg how can he be this good at acting!? he was also one of the main leads in " weak hero class one " i was once more mesmerized by his acting, i'll be looking forward his next projects.
Oh Se jong, phenomenal as usual!it is always nice to watch him act, his character here is so different from the one from "it's okay not to be okay" this shows how GREAT he is.
Another actor i really like for his versatility even if he is always playing a supporting role, is actor Kim Won Hae, whenever he is in a drama i do not hesitate to watch it lol! And this time too i wasn't dissapointed.
Overall for me it's an 8.5/10! These days k-dramaland is on fire, the dramas are of great quality and you can tell they worked really hard, thank you and keep going, i have so many dramas to watch and review!!!!

Worthy k-horror with top notch acting by Kim Tae Ri
Horror is not usually my choice of genre but was drawn by Kim Tae Ri’s versatile acting and was hooked from the beginning. Also a long mystery, each episode was full of suspense and was drawn wanting to find out the backstories. No love story unfortunately but there was a hint of romance between all the blood and deaths with the detective. Some could say there was also something with the Folklore professor but if they dropped in romance I’d be team detective. Ending also has a good message. Would recommend. Was this review helpful to you?
The series is mostly a murder mystery that intertwines evil spirits and other horrors into its narrative, which is not so different from many other horror-kdrama I’ve watched. The plot builds the tension within the narrative rather well, and each episode usually ends in such a way that you have to see the next one as soon as possible, but it does have a bit of a pacing issue.
The story works more like a mystery than a horror story in my opinion, but the evil spirits and the Korean folklore about such spirits and shamanism is used in an interesting (but perhaps familiar way if you’ve watched many such dramas) as such a tool to communicate moral questions about society, as well as the weaknesses and behavior of the characters to the viewer, like horror stories of this nature do. That’s the purpose of the horror.
For a while it seems like the story goes in a few too many circles with the main characters’ quest to get rid of these evil spirit, and the narrative loses a bit of momentum towards the middle. There is a lot of repetition and too little progress whether it was in the story itself or the characters own personal arcs, even though we are always learning more and more about these evil spirits and the past that explains the present. But towards the end the story does pick up the pace again.
There are plenty of great, interesting characters here, and of course Kim Tae Ri, like the other actors, is doing a great job in their roles but the drama struggles to give all of them time to tell their story while managing to keep a good flow to the story. There were almost too many character and it breaks the flow. The story affects the characters, but the characters don’t affect the story too much. Therefor the story overwhelms the character a little.
In some instances the narrative does seem to drag things out just because they need to fill the time with something. I’ve seen this screenwriter do horror very well before, as well as murder mystery, but mixing the two together seems to have been a struggle at times. Perhaps if the drama had been allowed to be longer, it wouldn’t have felt like it was holding too many balls in the air at once and allowed the story to breath a bit more or add more things in so it felt less repetitive.
An exciting story that allows the story to unfold through the characters and their actions, but ends up dragging them a bit unhesitatingly forward for the sake of the narrative. There is always something hooking you within each episode, but the build up between each cliff-hanger could have been better in some places. It makes the narrative a bit uneven, and I personally would have liked more horror. But overall a very entertaining watch despite the hiccups in the narrative structure.

I'd say it was among the year's top dramas.
The twist in this drama continued until the very end; every episode was interesting. Just have patience during the first two episodes, where you would feel like it's slow or they have kept the main story in the background; the rest of the episodes would be just filler-type ghost cases solving, whereas this is not the case at all. After the first two episodes, there will be lots of twists and turns in the story, and it becomes more interesting and engaging after that. This drama can be watched not only by those who like horror stuff but also by those who like the crime and investigation genres. Was this review helpful to you?
It's just perfect when you don't have the will to watch to anything
i didn't had any will to watch any dramas, I just finished my exams and now almost every drama I was starting, i wasn't able to even watch the first episode, there were popular ones too, but I saw this one on my insta feed and it caught my attention [ i'm a frequent kdrama watcher, I started watching since 2017 december and i have a specific preference] i watched it and it was worth it, you know sometimes when you don't want to do anything but that one thing suddenly caughts your attention and you start getting out of it, it's kind of that, I think I will watch it again with someone specific, the genre isn't just horror but the story is a bit more attractive, i never wrote any reviews about things I watched but it was genuine too good and i just love the cast, kim tae ri is too perfect, if i could ever cast actors for kdramas iw ould go for the cast of this one. the story is perfect and the cast makes it a must watch. Hope you would watch this masterpiece. Was this review helpful to you?

Humans are worse than ghosts, the moral of this drama
Revenant, starring Kim Tae-ri who is known for her acclaimed projects The Handmaiden, Mr. Sunshine, Twenty-Five Twenty-One and more, is a supernatural horror drama that questions wishes that comes with sacrifice.Revenant’s supernatural chase has a beginning and hopefully an ending (that doesn’t end with many more deaths). The evil spirit that goes on possessing the characters is an outcome of inhumane cruelty and greed of the society which has to reap the seed it has sown. It is not just a tale about a supernatural mystery chase but a tale about regressive traditions, of unravelling the darkness that lies in being human, of denying the right to live.
Overall, the show is fast paced with thrilling and simultaneously terrifying scenes. The mystery lies in identifying the spirit while the spirit is aware of every step that one takes. And the stakes are high, especially when the professionals have been killed in the process. Needless to mention, the cast is doing a fantastic job especially Kim Tae-ri who changes into a different person in every episode.
My Rating : 9/10

Don't be put off by the "horror" tag.
Revenant is an occult mystery thriller and not a horror, so don't be too scared to watch this masterpiece. There's a lot of suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat, but nothing gory. It has a unique and interesting plot, which will keep you thinking and guessing, and thought-provoking themes. Above all, it features jaw-dropping acting from chameleon Kim Taeri, who has given us two more iconic characters in Sanyeong and possessed Sanyeong to join Na Heedo, Go Aeshin, Captain Jang and Sookhee. It's amazing that she transforms with each role without a trace of past characters. Revenant is thoroughly recommended and joins Mr Sunshine and Twenty-Five Twenty-One as my all-time favourite dramas. Was this review helpful to you?

It's brutal but phenomenal
I'm not surprised the theme of valuing life/family over money is coming up again and again in KDramas. I think this show hit it in a different way than say squid games, though. For that, the directors and screenwriters are brilliant, masterfully weaving a wonderfully complex and unique story from a common theme. The cast was great, the sequencing of the scenes was great, the scenery and effects were great, and the folklore was outstanding. I really appreciated the dive into shamanism and traditional folktales. I think the brutal part was the suspense, gruesomeness of the repetitive suicides, and the mental heinousness of the crimes by the family in order to maintain obscene, unnecessary wealth - all to be expected considering the theme and nature of the show. Nevertheless, I feel like I'm walking away from the show entirely brutalized lol I think a few years down the line I'd watch it again, but I think it'll be hard to forget the details and feel the same level of suspense as the first time around. It was hard not to binge this one in a day!Was this review helpful to you?
