Gonna Make This Short
Don't start it. The end. You're still here? OK...here's the deal. If you grew up on American Daytime soaps, especially the half hours from Search For Tomorrow to Santa Barbara, you will get hooked. A/The Secret House fills the 'it's so bad it's good' hole left empty by the slow demise of the daytime soap operas in the US. I specifically mention half hour soaps because if you watched them, you're used to the pace at which ASH moves. I'm not saying it's good or bad, but just typical. Telenovela watchers consider yourselves warned, too.
The writing could, no should have been better. They had too many storylines going all at once . There was no way to satisfactorily handle them and tie it up in a neat little bow as we all know they do. For me the ONLY saving grace was for the character Ham Sook Jin. Oh did I love to hate her! As I stated on the drama's page, I think the writer(s) had a thing for Agnes Nixon's daytime because Ham Sook Jin was like if Erica Kane and Dorinan Lord (look them up if you don't know) had a baby. She's deliciously conniving and unapologetic.
More than half of the 8 points (4 stars) I gave the cast were for HSJ's portrayer, Lee Seung Yeon. In the hands of a less skilled actress the character could have turned into a caricature. This entire drama was carried on the back of the more "seasoned" professionals. The ML has gorgeous teeth and is damn attractive. That's all the good I can say. The FLs (I supposed that's what they were) aren't the best actresses I've ever seen. The 2nd ML was a better actor than the other leads (if you don't count Lee) and he wasn't that good. Although, I will admit, he seemed to get better as the series progressed.
There was nothing music wise that is worth mentioning. The re-watch is zilch. If you catch me watching this again, someone paid me.
Overall, it's a typical revenge plot. Had the writers concentrated on that storyline instead of creating so many other unnecessary ones with obvious conclusions. A Secret House would have been a much better watch.

ok drama
There are currently 3 reviews about this series. 1 person gave it an A. 1 person gave it an F and the other person gave it a C. You average the three reviews together and it comes out to a C. So I decided to try it . Not the worst not the best I would give it an C plus. So if you only have a short time to watch something this would be a fine choice.Likes:
1. Male lead's acting was good and he is good looking.
2. The main story was good.
3. short episodes only a half hour in length
Dislikes:
1. To many story lines. It would have been better to concentrate on the main story line.
In fact I skipped here and there and didn't feel like I missed anything.
2. Major DRAMA - If you like soap operas you will like this.
3.Female lead character could have been much better and was a bit annoying.

Typical revenge drama but this time you have a male lead!
Ah, I’ve been waiting to come down here and write a review because I have a few things to say!!!Overall, I think it’s good drama that will keep you entertained. The male lead is extremely attractive and has a good character. The acting is pretty good. Every now and then I like watching revenge daily dramas for its dramatic value. Most of the time it’s the female lead that’s wronged and ends up being a single mom, but this time you have a male lead that ends up being a single dad because of villains on the show.
The male lead is soooo good looking, I keep staring at him from time to time. His character is also pretty good. I wouldn’t say his character is flawless because that’d be a lie. However, I feel the reason I am watching this drama is him mostly. I stay for the female leads 90% of the time but this time a male lead wins it. He has his priorities straight.
The problem is with the female lead. How could they write up the female lead sooo tricking bad. She’s supposed to be a good character but she was very unlikable for me. How do you decide to wait for 9 years for someone to date you? When the male lead clearly states that she is not his priority and he has other things that are more important to him, she still decides on waiting like there’s only one man in the entire world? Her priorities were the male lead and his life, like mind your own business for a change? Apart from this, I felt suffocated by how much she was in the male lead’s business. Can’t imagine how suffocated he must feel. Okay, they like each other. But her actions were not understandable. You have to learn to move on. You’d probably understand what I am saying by watching the show because I don’t want to spoil anything.
Apart from her, I feel like the drama is decent. You have a cliched story with decent acting. So if you’re looking to pass your time, give this a shot!

It’s a fun roller coaster ride!
I absolutely recommend this show! I’ve been watching Kdrams for 20 years, this is so far the best show yet.I believe this is the second kdrama I’ve watched with a male leading character ( reformed rich) and this is by far the best I’ve seen since subscribed to Viki Rakuten. The story had branched off to different character stories which is often common on American dramas but I think it makes the Kdrama very enjoyable to watch because somehow you can relate to each and every character’s flaws. It can be somebody like a relative or neighbor, a mixed bag of all sorts. Like a story from Dickens, the plot narrows into a happy ending.
Kudos to the writers. Writing scripts for 124 episodes is a tedious task. Everything blended well.
A. Seo Ha Joon and Lee Young Un have really good chemistry. These two actors are well casted. I would love to see them in another drama again.
B. Jo Yoo Shin’s stoic atitude towards adversity, loyalty and family reminds me of D’ Artagnan in The Man in the iron mask
Or Robert De Niro in the movie, Great Expectations.
C. Jang Hang Sun and Lee Seung Yeon’s scenes were a bit nail biting, I somehow had popcorn flying off my bowl 🙂
D. Jung Heon’s acting is superb! I enjoyed watching his face crinkle from happy and sad and angry.
