Ji Chang Wook's best drama by far
When I first started watching this show, I didn't have very high hopes as I never saw it anywhere so I thought its not that good if its not popular. After the first 2 episodes I realised I was wrong as I couldn't stop watching. I binged this whole show in 1.5 days which I don't normally do as I like to almost get to know the characters over time. The acting was amazing, this drama was probably the best that I've seen from ji chang wook, his acting suits this kind of role so well. I was also shocked to see Bibi in the cast but oh wow her acting was good too. The story was captivating as well, none of those stupid misunderstanding plot lines which I hate as the misunderstanding takes half of the show. Park Jun Mo's change throughout the show was also presented very well and I was really immersed into his character. The romance was also there but it didn't take all of the show which I liked. I just don't understand why this show isn't getting the popularity it deserves. Overall I believe this show is worth watching, it is one of my favourites from 2023.Was this review helpful to you?

The most evil perfection
How should I describe this drama......a damn rollercoaster ride!!12 episodes and it was enough to drive me crazy. The story revolves around a cop who goes undercover to uncover an international drug ring and things get complicated when his wife inadvertently gets sucked into the investigation. The story was perfectly written and I love how Park Joon Mo aka the undercover cop slowly gets the utmost trust within the gang and slowly rises up to become the key figure in the international drug deal. And at the same time slowly removed the key figures around the ring leader and substituted himself as the most trusted subordinate and friend of the ring leader Jung Ki Chul. What was more thrilling is, how he managed to corner all of them into a dead end and finally take them all out in one fell swoop.
Ji Chang Wook managed to pull out the psychological struggle of his characters in utter perfection and I could not be more proud of him.
Worst of Evil, was made the most perfect evil by the cast and directing with a solid storyline.

LEFT ME WITH A HEAD FULL OF THOUGHTS
This is a kdrama with every kind of emotion you can think of. But I have to say if you don’t like gore or violence then this may not be for you.this is truly one of the best action, mind bending shows I have ever watched the acting was amazing as well as the selection for the cast and directing.
The key concept that this drama left me with was mending and determining the contrast between good and evil and how it can change our ways and morals beyond to what you would ever expect or imagine. Ji Chan Wooks character shows this marvelously and it was intriguing to see him change as the show progressed, it makes you realize how certain events can really change a persons morals and actions in order to achieve a given goal, how you can grow apart from people as well as deeper understand the people you once misunderstood by stepping into their world firsthand while excluding your own life experiences even your own identity as a whole. This drama had my eyes glued to screen always wanting to know what happens next and how the chatecters will grow and act while living in different environments as well as how their relationships will grow or drift. I won’t spoil the ending so you’ll have to determine your thoughts and opinions on the ending by responding to this review but I have to say that it really left me almost to tears making me think about ones experiences throughout different relationships and ways of life whether it be the interpretation on life, Thinking “Who’s good, Who’s evil?”, “What does good mean to you, What does evil look like?”
it is unbelievable how life can take its turns without you even realizing or noticing and this drama really does a great job of showing how the human race CAN really “get used” or adapt to other environments and how we as people can manipulate/train our brain to see different living situations, points of views, people, etc. and most importantly how we can actually reveal a whole different side of ourselves that we never knew possible.

What did it cost? Everything
Gangnam in 1990s in neo-noir story about love, power and struggle with our own demons."Exceptional drama" - there are words that come to my mind, when I think about this series. Interesting idea for plot with many plot twists, hints and slowly developing story. You can fell aura of the last decade of 20th century in Korean criminal underworld.
Brilliant acting... Ji Chang Wook in action drama again is so satisfying. Fighting scenes are well-played and you can't take eyes on him in them. You can see emotions in his eyes, how he struggle and trying to keep his sanity. Complex character and I think one of the best in last years. Wi Ha Joon didn't disappoint as well, I could see that he shown something different in this role. I could understand his reasons and emotions, everything was perfect... and heartbreaking. Im Se Mi meets my expectations with her character and her struggles, her little facial expressions were brilliant. I can't niggle over supporting characters acting. they all do well. Also I was suprised by BIBI, I didn't know that she can act and be an eyecatcher in the screen.
I truly like music in this drama , it makes matching vibes with the story. Especially in the ending... it made me so emotional.
Filmmakers did amazing job with making characters. They are sophisticated, not obvious, not bad, not good. All I see is grey. Viewers may see that circumstances can made us do many things, terrible things. Things we do for love. Things we do for power. Things we do, because of our ambitious. Things we do, because of our greed. What make us going crazy, even if we try keep our beliefs. What we have to sacrifice for our work. And lasty if it is worthy to do it all...
In the end we all can see broken people, who lost everything. Whose world view was shattered . They know nothing. They don't believe in anything... they are shadows of who they were before
Highly recommended drama for neo-noir fans and ganster drama watchers. Great position for everyone interested in: morally-grey characters, undercover cop, difficult circumstances and what they can make us, psychological struggle and heartbeaking plot. I will come back in future to see one more time bromance and romance, action sequences and difficulties to stay true to yourself beliefs . Moreover I will think if it was worthy... after all it cost everything

One of the best of its crime A MUST WATCH.........
Its one of the best drama of the year with a very powerful and effective cast , especially the male leads - they both are fantastic and up to the mark for their role , Female leads are also good , BIBI is more effective in the drama with her acting and all other scenes ( something i don't want to spoil but is there in the drama ) . The acting , the violence , the action and the brutal emotions looks so real and effective again the male leads are amazing and will never disappoint . The only downside is the underwhelming ending and some open threads which weren't closed properly in the last 2 episode , but if u think about it , the ending offered to us also makes a lot of sense . Don't take it as a bad ending show it defiantly worth to watch but a little anticlimactic .Was this review helpful to you?

Best Crime based Kdrama !!
If you are looking for a crime based thriller Kdrama then this is for you. The casting was top notch and every character played it's role phenomenally . But for me Ji chang wook stole the show. Every scene, dialogue delivered by ji chang wook was to the point, and once again he proved how amazing he is an actor. Talking about the story it gave the viewers a glimpse of how illegal drug trade was prominent in 1900's in sk. It also gave audience a brief view on how undercover agent/ cops suffer mentally, physically while dealing with criminals and how their personal life gets entangled when family members gets involved. This is not a typical romantic kdrama where FL will end up with ML in the end. Talking about the music the music was good . Honestly the ending was realistic because Jun moo realised that how things can get messed up if family members get involved while dealing with criminals. And as for the chemistry between the leads it was good but the FL character lagged because she too much involved her personal feelings in the investigation and completely forgot that the SML was a literal criminal and she didn't even saw that the very end also the SML didn't regretted over his wrong doings. The reason why Jun moo shooted Ki Chul was he didn't wanted him to die through sucide because that would be a easy death for him. The SML wanted to die to let jun moo suffer mentally thinking that Jun moo will feel remorse and regret over his betrayal but Jun moo shooted him to show him that at the end justice wins and cops will always punish the criminals whether they have personal feelings or not. As for Jun moo and Eui-jeong relationship it was quite clear that Eui-jeong didn't loved her husband and more importantly respected him as a cop she was literally shocked like what did she expected from Jun moo to let a criminal win ? She shouldn't be call as a cop because she let her personal feelings for involved while punishing a literal criminal and it looked like she was not true to Jun moo her love was more for Ki Chul because of she loved Jun moo she wouldn't have lied to him about the necklace nor she would have kept the necklace. The ending basically tells that Jun moo as a cop would probably start his life fresh without the lingering feelings or memories of the past. A 10/10 drama for me!!Was this review helpful to you?
If you have trust issues…
This was by far the most gripping and emotional nerve wrecking drama I have watched, it even tops Flower of Evil.Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Jun have the best chemistry , and the Direcor and Screenwriters are The Worst of Evil (in a good way). I was on the edge all the time, and before the last 3 episodes I had a knot in my stomach because I feared for their lifes.
The end was heartbreaking…
Everyone in the cast was so good, and the leads were all excellent, with Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Jun showing outstand performances. I am still stunned, and overwhelmed with Emotions, and sad that we can‘t have more.

Great Acting, But For What?
My 4 categories are Acting/Cast, Writing, Direction/SFX/Music, Entertainment Value.Although I don’t really like crime dramas, I decided to watch this one because I like both of the male lead actors. I particularly love seeing Ji Chang Wook (지창욱) in action roles. He’s amazing at it and it’s been a long time since I’d seen him do action.
Acting/Cast: Ji Chang Wook (지창욱) did not disappoint. His fighting sequences were not only exciting, but his acting was too real. I could feel all of his emotions throughout the entire drama. I think this could be the best performance that I’ve seen from him. Everyone else did great for the most part. The female lead’s acting was probably on the weaker side as well as the side character cops. 9.5/10
Writing: The psychological aspect of this drama was well written. However, that’s about it. The actual plot was not very interesting and didn’t make much sense realistically. The female lead really didn’t have much of a role. She was just the driving force behind the motivation for the male leads. All she had to do was exist. After finishing this drama, I felt confused as to what the purpose of the drama was. What’s the message? You must become evil to win against evil? Or that you shouldn’t do that? Or that we are the choices we make? If it’s that last one, then, I feel like the heroes are almost worse than the gangsters. The heroes had done something that was so completely heartless and shameful even by the gangsters’ standards. Maybe the mixed messages are intentional. Maybe the characters in the drama are just as confused as I am. 2/10
Direction/SFX/Music: Since this is a genre that I’m not particularly interested in, I didn’t think it would be able to keep my attention. However, the fight scenes would force me to bring my full attention back the screen. This drama definitely has a high production quality. The pacing is good. The OST didn’t stand out to me. 7/10
Entertainment Value: The action scenes were great. That's the only thing that kept me watching. However, the plot just feels pointless to me. I could predict what was going to happen a lot, too. I'm also not a fan of tragedies. This drama reminded me of Heartless City. Except, in Heartless City, the characters grew on me as I watched. The opposite happened for me with The Worst of Evil. 4/10
Overall, I gave this drama a 5.5/10. It might just be due to my own personal tastes - I don't usually like crime dramas nor tragedies. Amazing acting from Ji Chang Wook (지창욱) though.

Must-Watch or Miss? 'The Worst of Evil'
Hey there, drama fans! So, I just finished binge-watching "The Worst of Evil," and let me tell you, it's quite the rollercoaster ride! If you're into crime dramas set in the '90s that come with a side of family drama and personal dilemmas, this one's for you.First off, the soundtrack is fire! It totally immerses you in the dark world of Seoul's underground drug scene. The pacing is on point too—no unnecessary drag or filler episodes, just pure, edge-of-your-seat tension.
But hey, no show is perfect, right? Let's talk about Yoo Eui Jung. Girl, what were you thinking volunteering for a mission that your hubby is already on? It kinda makes you question how much she really values her marriage, doesn't it?
And don't get me started on Jung Ki Chul. The guy's supposed to be super meticulous, only working with people from his own school, and yet he somehow misses Park Jun Mo sneaking in under a fake name. C'mon, man!
Oh, and a quick shoutout to our low-ranking officer Hwang Min Gu. Seriously, how does someone like him get to throw a wrench into such a big investigation? It's weirdly entertaining but also kinda unbelievable.
And oh, before I forget—what's the deal with Lee Hae Ryeon? She's head over heels for Park Jun Mo, and for what? It's like she fell from the 'Love at First Sight' tree and hit every branch on the way down. It's one of those 'because the script said so' moments, isn't it?
But look, minor gripes aside, this show is definitely worth your time. It's not going to win any awards for groundbreaking storytelling, but it's a solid pick if you're in the mood for something fast-paced and engaging.
So, are you gonna check it out? Trust me, it's a ride you won't want to miss!

Fascinating story and great script, music and top class acting. Very Well done
The story telling is so fascinating through out all 9 episodes so far. The script writer and director have done an amazing job. Every lines are sharp, interesting and informative, just right, and every scenes have been done in a finely detailed manner. It’s such a pleasure to watch! The casts are most amazing, including all main characters and supporting characters. Everyone is playing their role so well. Congratulations on your wonderful product. Music is fantastic. Absolutely love it. I will have OST added to my favourite play list asap! For JCW fans, he is at his best. Yes he has done it again, playing best in any roles be it romantic or action! This roles is a new aspect of his super talented acting skill. However it is only fair to give all other main leads the same score: all 10/10 ! What a joy to watch each episode! Thank You 🙏🏻Was this review helpful to you?

Amazing until 9-10
until episode 10 they built the tension but Very poor acting by both lead actorsEnding was total let down
You built everything for end and then nothing really happened
Director wasn't able to fit all that in 12 episodes
There were no believable emotion in whole show
until Episode 10 Lee hayrun was noticing tension between Cop couple but after 10 Director decide to make her stupid fangirl who already noticed cop couple but suddenly she is too deep in love with Ji chang Wook
ji chang wook shows no emotion for Miss Lee at all and she wasn't able to notice anything after episode 10
Junmo was free to kill and former cop they don't even was able to catch
Whole show was about catching drug gang boss but our Murderer Cop Ji Chang Wook let him go
he kill an innocent investigator,
But since his wife still love her criminal lover he let him run away what nonsense logic is that
that wife cheat on her husband with a criminal in front of him by using work as excuse
his boss himself look like a gang leader then police, Acting level of Ji Chang Wook in this show drop to -99 {negative}
At the end they are back normal walking in there home after his cop wife told him that she will always love that criminal guy and he is her compromise who she can't divorce or leave for a criminal because it will taint her Cop family
Junmo shot a man who was about to shot himself, in both situation other person died
but junmo wanted credit for his second murder and after that what is left of his marriage ?
Junmo killed his wife's first love she still love and cry for in front of her husband
I give 4/10 for those 10 episodes in which this drama was logical, but at the end just throw the logic out
It was first time i see ji chang wook being this Lazy in his acting,
K2 was better and Empress Ki was the best of Ji chang Wook after that its all went downhill in his acting and choice of scripts.

Why must you watch?
The series is short with mind blowing story, cast and acting. The series can make you binge watch itself. It's worth your time. The set is shown of 1990's revolving an undercover narcotic trade for which narcotic department takes upon a massive risky investigation which involves couples protecting each other throughout it. The whole story gives us a intriguing plot and captivating acting. What sets this drama apart is how it brilliantly showcases the interconnectedness of its characters, all engaged in their mind games and strategies. The acting of every cast member is truly outstanding, and they're all nailing their respective roles.I hope you add it to your watching list.
