Wonderful, lighthearted and short show with an interesting twist.

This is a wonderful short show. One of these hidden gems you sometimes is lucky enough to come across. The storyline is quite simple and then again not. Normally I hate amnesia but here it is the premise of the story so I was fine with it.
I love these mini-shows or short shows when they are done right - like this is. Gone are unnecessary fillers and multiple side stories that test my patience. Brilliant.
Character wise:
FL is a kind but headstrong woman and ML is a clever, strong yet warmhearted man. Their love story is wonderful and sweet.
Acting wise this is great. All the main actors do a fabulous job with the characters. Since it is a short show there is limited depth and growth but that’s to be expected. The chemistry between the main leads is great.
So, if you want something short, lighthearted and romantic - with a splash of drama - this is definitely well worth watching.

Swoony mini-drama with perfect amount of comedy, angst, and great OTP chemistry

For a mini drama, this was a gem! One of my favourites so far and up there with A Familiar Stranger and The Killer is Also Romantic (same FL) among the best short-length dramas.

I'm very picky when it comes to comedy, but a lot more forgiving with these short ones, and for the most part, the humour worked for me in Si Shi Hao despite some of the anachronisms. The pacing and story telling were also well done and the production quality was solid. The main couple had great chemistry and the ML's love for the FL was a great blend of swoony mild angst. Importantly, the ending was satisfying and complete, and did not feel rushed (especially for a short-length drama).

Highly recommend this one if you are looking for a drama fix, but don't have time for a big 40-episode binge session!

A solid in-between-shows watch.

This ML is a fucking phenomenal actor, and the actual basic plot is creative. However, they are being hamstrung by a mediocre director, mundane script writers, phoned-in makeup, and budget production.

There's nothing that outright sucks about this one, I'll give it that. FL is fine and brings the slightest touch of comedy to her performance, and it works. She lets herself have some chemistry with the ML (Some, mind you, not really a lot though). The creative vision lacks a certain amount of cohesion.... is it fluff, is it comedy, is it action, is it drama.... it's not really sure. There is no distinct "look" to it. It leaves an afterimpression of averageness.

I think this is a good watch if you need just something light and mildly entertaining with a brisk pace. I also think this is an allright watch if you are just curious about Cheng Yu Feng's acting evolution. He has a few brief flashes of genius acting in this drama, but for the mostpart what you see is him dumbing himself down as an actor to fit the role that's beneath him.

There's a part where the FL asks him if his lazy personality is all fake. He looks at her and considers the question and then says "It's fake... and it's not fake." And in that 10 seconds of acting, you can see that brilliance he has, as his emotions silently shift from one to another so fast... it's like his emotions are "shiny", they flicker across his face and it's quite extraordinary. He does it again in the last episode when the FL gives him the big news that I'm not going to tell you so I don't spoil it, but you'll know it when you see it if you decide to watch this one. And there's a few instances in the first half of the show where it is written into the script that his facade has to crack open for just a fraction of a moment and you see a glimmer of who he really is, and wowww it was sexy and cool. But again..... these moments are fleeting, the script and direction really don't give him any room to breathe as an actor.

It was decent.

This is a very nice miniseries. The leading couple has good chemistry and the romantic scenes are very pleasant to watch. Even though there’s not much time to develop a great saga, the plot gives a good enough sequence of events, some good action scenes, and the main characters are properly fleshed out to allow the viewer to see their strengths and flaws with proper character development. The story is interesting and the drama is entertaining. Some of the supporting cast did quite well, too. Enjoy it!

A nice, funny break from all the heavy cdramas

This is a mini-drama so don't expect depth, high production value or a heavy story. 10 mins per episode, max.
*
The ML is fabulous - funny and a really good actor imo. I hope to see him in more dramas soon.
*
Again, it's a mini-drama, so while I was a bit disappointed with the FL's character development, with a mini drama, they really don't have the time to do anything.
*
The romance was sweet and lovely (Yay! Kiss scenes!)
*
Overall it's a nice break. Rewatch value, too. I laughed just as hard rewatching certain scenes.

Light & funny mini drama with great chemistry between ML & FL

After watching My Lady General, I was in the mood for mini dramas with gender reversal roles. This mini drama was a delight!

What I liked:
1) Cheng Yu Feng - My first time watching his acting and I was impressed. He managed to convey 2 different personas: (i) obedient, slightly himbo husband, and (ii) a king serious about welfare of his subjects. I like his acting for both sides of his character.
2) Comedy - The first half of the series was really funny. Didn't expect period mini drama to be that comical.
3) Romance - There aren't many intimate scenes but when there were such scenes, they were tender. Yue Li Zheng really loved his wife, which can be seen through his actions. Such swoonworthy.
4) Plot - Creative and refreshing. I love the explanation for the gender reversal roles and the king's strategy to catch the villain.

What I disliked:
1) No. of episodes - Mini drama tends to have an average of 24 episodes but Yes, Her Majesty only has 20 episodes. I wish the writers had created 4 more episodes because some arcs had room for more screentime e.g. villain's arc, main couple's romance.
2) Li Shi Hao - Just a minor issue - I wish she wasn't too resistant/angry towards her husband. I don't feel her investment in the relationship until he went to war and she found out all the things he had done for her.

Favourite scene
The concubine audition

Not the greatest, but not bad at all either

Story:
-quite shallow, but still enjoyable
-lack of sufficient backstory made it a bit jarring at time
-had some weird conflicts that didn't really make sense, but it did drive the plot
-romance was cute and no angst
-I admit that at parts I would watch at 1.25, 1.5, or even 1.75 times the speed because it got a tad boring at some parts
-The end was really cute and tied all loose ends

Acting/Cast
-chemistry was good
-some parts weren't acted as well as I would like, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment

Music
-they had like only 2 songs
-they were good songs, but I wish there were more
-But, this is a short series so it is forgiven

Rewatch Value
-there are some twists, so rewatching wouldn't be that great
-however, the couple was really cute when they got together, so if I were to watch it again, I would simply skip parts to the nice parts

Overall
if you
-got some time on your hands (like 3 hours)
-don't care about details
-are bored
Then, give it a go!

Surprisingly Nice

I don't normally watch short episode series loke this but seeing a short clip of it, I gave it a try and it is surprisingly nice and well done for a low budget series.
The plot is good although it is confusing in the beginning however, patience is a virtue because it'll make sense as the story evolves.
I think if this series was thoroughly invested on and improved, it could have been a great series. It is already good now, so it can only be better if the narrative is explored more. Theres just one quirky part which was the handmaiden seemingly having powers but it was glossed over. It didn't even play any part during the time there were issues and problems that could have been solved by her power. That seems to be a hole left uncovered there.
The artists all did well. Good chemistry all around. Each one portrayed their role well. I think we will see more of the leading male actor more in the future. He has a potential.
The wardrobe is excellent as well as the production itself. I didn't notice any out of scene wardrobe. It seems attention to details were given to this series
I recommend this series for those who like light hearted, short series. To those like me who don't fancy short episodes, to me this is worth the patience.
Good work to the entire production.

Surprised me, doesn't happen often.

It's a hilarious drama, short as it is, it goes in and builds character back story that doesn't feel rushed over underdone.
As is typical of mini dramas, there's no cheesy acting here, the bad guy is unserious, the aides are hilarious, the maid with the cursed mouth is absolutely ridiculously endearing, oh and the chemistry between the leads is off the charts, I want to see more of them in a full length drama please. Happy ending.
For a one sit fluffy non serious watch, this fits the bill nicely.
