Petals of Love
I began to watch this drama best off of a recommendation and let me tell you, the first few minutes you will be like, what am I watching. It was definitely hot to say the least.ML (Yan Zi Xian aka He Xing Zhou) walks in on our FL (Hong Xia aka Yang An Ning) taking a bath. But that’s not the best part, He Xing Zhou snatches up a robe and lifts her naked body out of the bath and wraps her in the robe and places her on a chaise. She then begins her seduction of him and him of her – it is so well done that you can feel the heat coming off of them.
After taking all of that in…I was intrigued to see what was going to happen next.
Yang An Ning is a famous opera actress in Yuncheng and is out for revenge to avenge the death of her senior brother, Snowdrop who was an actress too. She makes a hard play, I mean hard play for He Xing Zhou, the son of the local warlord. He Xing Zhou is known as the “Devil of Yucheng” due to his cold demeanor, standoffishness and unpleasant disposition. Many were surprised that the warlord and the actress had become an item. They thought he would be with Lu Yongxi, daughter of the Lus but she betrayed him and decided to marry his disabled brother (Cao Jun Hao aka He Ming Ting).
To further immerse herself with He Xing Zhou’s life, Yang An Ning sets several traps for him throughout the drama The first one was having an assailant come to attack He Xing Zhou. She then steps in front of him and gets stabbed saving him. He is shocked to see that she would do such an act of kindness for him. He takes her to the car where he gives her first aid. He asks her what she wants in return for saving him. She says she wants to go to the Commander’s Mansion. This was the last place that Snowdrop was at when he died. She needed to get entry so that she could investigate his death hence putting He Xing Zhou in her debt for saving him and the price was just what she wanted -- to get into the Commander's Mansion. He Xing Zhou agrees but tells her that it won’t be a friendly encounter to which she tells him she doesn’t care. Once again, her seduction of him is on. The car is steamed up once he begins kissing her, goodness, he was going for it…whew!
Yang An Ning upon entering the Commander’s Mansion has her first meeting with Lu Yongxi and He Ming Ting. These two will be a catalyst for both He Xing Zhou and Yang An Ning throughout the drama.
He Xing Zhou does not have a good relationship with his father (Yang Xiao Bo aka He Zhen Yun) due to how his mother died. While He Xing Zhou was meeting with his father, Yang An Ning also ran into Mrs. He where an argument ensued based on her making a comment about Snowdrop, actresses etc. which set Yang An Ning off. Not liking her attitude Mrs. He literally tortures Yang An Ning with beating and clamping both her hands. Hearing all of this commotion, He Ming Ting attempts to stop his mother who was not to be dissuaded by him and continued until, you got it, here comes He Xing Zhou.
Things escalated to the point until He Zhen Yun hears all the arguing. This is where He Xing Zhou got pushed to his breaking point because he was angry with his father mentioning about Yang An Ning being an actress, reminding him of how his father treated his mother. He decides right then and there and tells everyone he was marrying Yang An Ning in three days. Yang An Ning then takes this opportunity to set up another trap by saying she is pregnant. Of course, He Xing Zhou knew she was lying and told her never to act so brazen again, or else.
The wedding day arrives. You know there is going to be drama and there was. As Yang An Ning sat in the wedding carriage outside of the He Mansion, He Xing Zhou is told that Lu Xiong poisoned herself to commit suicide. He Xing Zhou comes out of the mansion, not even telling Yang An Ning what is going on and leaves to go to Lu Xiong dressed in his groom apparel. She sat all day long waiting for He Xing Zhou to return.
Meanwhile, He Xing Zhou finds out that Lu Xiong was trying to stop him from marrying Yang An Ning. This is a double wedding you will find out that is why she tried to kill herself because Lu Xiong had to finally marry, He Ming Ting, all the while still in love with He Xing Zhou. He wasn’t down with anything that she was saying. And again, tells her it is over. She moved on with his brother and it was her choice, so this is the last time he will have conversation with her.
Yang An Ning was still waiting until Mrs. He comes out and tells her she can come into the mansion. They embarrass her beyond all means to the point that in order for her to marry He Xing Zhou she had to kneel in the courtyard while it rained on her. If he did not return by midnight there would be no wedding and she would have to leave the mansion.
He Xing Zhou makes it with Lu Xiong on horseback and races in to find Yang An Ning drenched and kneeling in the rain. He asks her why she is kneeling all the while cutting death glances to Mrs. He. She tells him that she thought he didn't want to marry her. At that moment, when you see him carry her to get married, you will love him even more. The next morning, the way he looks at her and holds her, oh, and when he smiles, you can tell he loves her. Right there was a major turning point in their relationship.
You do get to see some lighthearted moments between them when he is jealous of his brother and when they truly fall in love once she really becomes pregnant.
Oh, and wait to you see him give her the medicine she needs to take for her pregnancy. Well, you will definitely want to take it from him that way moving forward. This man can kiss…. wow!!!
There are some exciting highlights that unfold in this drama:
- She has an “accident” that she makes them believe that Mrs. He did to make her have a miscarriage
- The murder of He Zhen Yun (his father) - which He Xing Zhou is blamed for killing him
- The loss of their baby after she really does get pregnant (Lu Xiong switches out the medicine that he makes for her)
- He Xing Zhou becomes addicted to opium (because He Ming Ting switching his cigars with opium)
- Lu Xiong gives her something to strip her voice so that she will not be able to sing
- The ring that put marks on Snowdrops body and death was caused by He Ming Ting
- Yang An Ning stabbing He Xing Zhou and loses her mind
Lu Yongxi is just one screw loose because she only loves He Xing Zhou, but she decided on He Ming Ting who you will find out is even nuttier than her. She does make the ultimate sacrifice for both He Xing Zhou and Yang An Ning which will make you feel sorry for all the abuse that she put up with He Ming Ting.
The ML and FL have off the chart chemistry and their romantic scenes, forget about it! So hot! You will keep looking at the FL as if you know her from somewhere, I will help you with that, she reminds you of the American actress, Jenna Dewan.
Yan Zi Xian in every drama I’ve seen him in (Lovesickness, Chasing Love and Taking Love as a Contract) he brings it. Definitely a favorite to watch. The man ladies, can kiss, just watch him.
Everything to me was good with regards to the story. The ending left me feeling blah. I felt like something was missing and it could have been better. Don’t get me wrong, it is a happy ending, but it just leaves you wanting some more.
But I can truly say in the end, the petals of love of a begonia did encompass both Yang An Ning and He Xing Zhou with affection, love, pleasure, longing, happiness, desire, passion and romance.

This was hot hot hot!
Revenge of Begonia did catch my eye while it aired but i decided to wait til summer to watch it. Its not for everyone`s taste, especially being a web short drama, and the cliche trope (though so deliciously done) and the very dark turn of events where the mainleads get so destructive in their relationship. I loved the mainleads so much. The Male Lead was this ruthless but neverthless good hearted warrior and our female lead totally ensnared him with her pure seduction and charm...and eventually stole his heart. I love romance so much and the romance between them was so very gawd hot and passionate! Was this review helpful to you?

Okay, but major twists that make you wanna skip
The story is half good and half bad; however, the acting is fairly good for a mini drama. To be specific, It was great up until around episode 15, 16 (where the ML starts smoking cigar with opium in it) to basically 23. The FL character was written with one-dimensional thinking (has no brains at all). For instance, in one episode after the ML is addicted to opium, she tells her friend that such outcome (inability of the ML to serve as the commander) is what 'they' want. Now, I assume anyone who speaks such statement would be wise enough to know who would benefit from the ML not having the capacity to be the commander (Obviously the previous deputy commander and the brother). But no when the SML comes with the ring, she assumes that her husband killed her 'brother'. Additionally, instead of asking did you kill my 'brother', she just asks the ML if the ring is his. I mean the ring could be his and used by the killer since it can be stolen etc. FL never thought that far, she is easily manipulated. I was hoping for a strong story but it disappointed around the ending episodes. Just my own thoughts.

Hot Couple Alert!
Been watching C and K-dramas the past few years and finally created an MDL acct just to rate this drama. I normally don't watch short dramas but somehow stumbled upon My Uncanny Destiny which also starred ML, Yan Zi Xian and thoroughly enjoyed that one so decided to give TROB a try and I'm glad I did! The main couple in the first half of the drama is just hot, heavy and sexy unlike your typical C-dramas. Some of the kissing scenes, I had to make sure my kids weren't sitting next to me. ML and FL for sure had sizzling chemistry.Second half is your typical super villain coming into their own and FL becoming stupid, ML being stubborn and stuck in his ways and sure, I rolled my eyes hard a few times but since it's a short drama my eye rolling kept to a minimum as the story moved right along. Sometimes, there was barely any build up before the next scene and major stuff happening. I forgave some of the plot holes and still enjoyed the drama overall. I binged it in a day!
Can I just say how HOT the ML, YZX is? I mean his side profile - I am swooning. He so needs a drama where he plays a vampire!

Familiar story
What I appreciated most was the acting of the male lead. His performance was too good, amazing, fantastic, and fabulous. I always think he deserves a big project. The story was also compelling. It follows a girl who, in order to uncover the truth about her childhood buddy's death (a person who was going to be her husband and whom she respected as an older brother), marries a general because he is connected to her senior brother's death. Along this journey, many people die, but all were not good people; they had committed various wrongdoings, with some being heinous. Gradually, the truth is revealed, leading to a happy ending.
I wish the drama had ended by showing their marriage again, as well as their children.

Not worth your time
don't know from where to startThe story is usual, not much expected as it a Mini series
Its a revenge story but the plot about revenge feels like forced, the purpose of heroin's life became to avenge her senior but the way she proceeds make its difficult to believe that she survived till now
ML-The way he treats the FL , the push and pull kind of romance it may seem great on screen but i think in reality this kind of romance even though its part of relationships but cant be the basis of a romantic relationship
I don't Recommend the series even if you don't have any other series to watch

So much suffering in this revenge mini drama
This fast-paced (10 - 15 min per episode) mini drama kept me awake until almost 2 am.What I like:
1) Visuals - With that hairstyling, I find Yan Zi Xian resembled Jackson Wang during GOT7's Crash & Burn and Not by the Moon era so much!
2) Plot - I enjoyed the 1st half of The Revenge of Begonia. Fast-paced and somewhat coherent.
3) Intimate scenes - Gosh, episode 1 is already steamy. Then comes feeding medicine scene. I also found tender moments were pleasant surprise.
4) An Ning's best friend - Only Yumei is likeable because she is rational!
5) I like the ending of the villain.
What I dislike:
1) The 2nd half plot just non-sensical and messy. Why did An Ning doubt He Xing Zhou a second time???
2) He Xing Zhou's mother was insufferable. Mo Xiang was pathetic too.
3) Abuse & misery - I am surprised that abuse in front of servants was permitted in that household. An Ning also suffered a lot by being He Xing Zhou's wife.
Favourite scene
When He Xing Zhou tried to cheer up An Ning with a performance. That's the only time I see He Xing Zhou smiled.

Yan Zi Xian looking smoldering hot in a suit is all I need.
I started this drama because of Yan Zi Xian and stayed for him. He was really hot in here, but sadly his female lead pales in comparison. I felt like the director wanted someone looking exotic/seductress for the FL, but the FL actress was nothing like that and instead I kept getting distracted by her looking plastic and old, and actually having more of the villian look. The good things.
1) Yang Zi Xian is hot in his suit!
2) The leads definitely had chemistry together. They made me believe that they were a couple. It was like, "Damn, I wish I was the FL!" because of the way how ML looked at her.
The bad things.
1) The leads already knew eachother and were an item so there were no hype or anticipation towards the falling in love part.
2) The ML does warn off the 2nd FL about FL, yet at times, he seems affected by her and choose her over FL though not intentional, but still...
3) It got boring when ML found out about FL's revenge and started his opium crack. I kept waiting for something to angst up their relationship and improve it, but it just went flatline out.
4) IDK how FL started her own mental cover up story when she already thought ML was the culprit and stabbed him. They never got a chance to talk it out.
5) IDK how the villian came to be like how he was or obsessed. It was weird. No conclusion on this part. I feel like they just wrote the villian's character because they needed one.
All in all, it was a pretty mediocre drama with some enjoyable scenes, but it also had its flaws.

Achei muito bem feito, tem boas reviravoltas e história foi bem "costurada".O protagonista masculino era do tipo guerreiro implacável, mas ainda assim de bom coração. (Além de muito bonito).
Nossa protagonista feminina o fisgou totalmente.
Finalizando.. achei bem legal e recomendo. Eu particularmente maratonei tudo num dia.
