The story of this drama is rather interesting andf as a plot rather intriguing with many things that frustrate and at the same time makje you more curious. In the beginning I watched only the first episode of this drama but because of a certain reason I got mad and stopped. However after a few months I decided to let go of my preconception and actually watch it and until now I do not regret it because it was an excellent drama. Deep questions about life were posed and at the same time you were the one who was left to answer them. This drama is definitely for mature thinking. It makes you go deeper than most dramas and it changed my whole views on life and the way we live it. In this drama, even though the teacher is supposed to be the one who teaches, it is the high school girl who gives a lesson to him. The acting in this was simply outstanding by every actor. Fujiki, aya, aoi yuu, narimiya hiroki etc. The music was calming and definitely suit it and this is a drama that can definitely be rewatched. The chemistry was also very good though at the same time the awkwardness was also there and perfectly suited. Somehow you were also becoming part of the story as you see it unfold. It made me want to be part of this drama and slap and punch various people in it.

Nothing worth watching here, avoid

This series is beyond idiotic and it tries hard to convey itself as a philosophical one but rather fails at that miserably. On the contrary it actually becomes more and more dumb as it progresses.

The drama is weirdly about miserable people living in their own self created miseries. Some are psychotic, some mentally retarded and some delusional but all definitely lacking any connections to reality. On top of that, the ending is nonsensical as well, expect the usual Japanese habit on needlessly being vague. The only thing good about this was that, atleast, ML and FL had some chemistry.

Wrong interpretations, wrong actions, wrong decisions and wrong messages altogether create only a nonsense plot, nothing else.

My recommendation, avoid, nothing worth watching here. 4/10

I had originally been seeing this drama everywhere but because I thought it was going to be boring and old (It was released when I was born), I was putting it off. I am so glad that I decided to watch it as it is a very emotional and unique drama. I won't say any spoilers, but if y'all are looking for the type ''And they lived happily ever after'' story this is not for you. Having said that, this drama is so intriguing, and it leaves you wanting to know what happens till the very end. Would certainly recommend - don't judge a drama by its cover ;)

This is my all time favorite drama, so I decided to write a review.
I picked up this story because I’m into some of its tropes, but ended up completely surprised. More than just a simple teacher-student love story, this is a drama that’ll never go the way you expect it. The cast did a wonderful job portraying the humanity of the characters, there are no perfect people here and many times you’ll probably hate them but then maybe you’ll feel huge empathy for them, or at least they’ll show you different sides of human nature.
What’s love and what are its boundaries? Do I love this person or do I need them to feel better about myself? Do I have a right to be selfish under certain circumstances? These are some of the questions this story makes you reflect on; in a mixture of sweet moments between the main characters, cruel realities and heartbreaking situations.
Sometimes I still go and watch my favorite episodes (which is unusual as I don’t usually rewatch dramas), so it’s definitely a drama I recommend.

Note: I watched the older one too (1993) after watching this one, so it’s not totally necessary to watch one to understand the other and I like the 2003 version way more, but it’ll help you see more of some characters stories if you’re interested in them.
