Xiang Bei is a deaf but successful executive workin in a top company. Due to what happen 20years ago and the tragic death of his mother his life mission is to seek revenge and claim back what rightfully belongs to the Lu family under the urge of his maternal grandfather. But this plan became difficult and complicated when Yi Nian enter his life. Yi Nian is the daughter of his enemy but her kind, cheerful and straight forward personality despite himself finds himself drawn to her. Yi Nian is someone who values love and accepts people readily. But she's no push over and you see her challenging Xiang Bei in many instances.
I find I really like how opposite Xiang Bei and yi Nian is. Yi Nian's existence is like a light to his pretty sad and miserable life. She was the balm to his emotional suffering. She would speak out what she could see through his cold exterior and tendency of holding secrets and pain. She accepted his deafness and treated him with no difference. In fact in her subtle way she encouraged him to accept himself. There's quite a number of scenes and her confession which I find touching. I must say I love the lamps she designed.
This drama is not without faults and require heavy self-editing to improve your viewing experience. I had to dig deep into my patience before finding good memorable scenes between our two leads starting from ep 10,11,13 & 15. My self editing means skipping scenes of business rivalry, scenes of extreme hatred or characters I don't like. I focus on interaction between Xiang Bei and Yi Nian, Xiang Bei with his mum, Yi Nian with her best friend and her best friend's own love relationship. That means keeping my fingers on the cursor and able to finish the drama in 2.5 days.
Acting wise is passable. I find their chemistry linger at 80% max. Could have been better. But the love story between then I like. And I thk with the exception of him jumping into the water to rescue her, no cliche scenes of stumbling and accidental kiss. In fact I kind of feel the drama requires a bit more kiss scenes for my romantic side. All in all I enjoyed it. I love the dancing scene, the catch a movie scene, and some of their conversations that still lingers in my mind after the drama has ended. Give this a chance but do some self editing...

Good drama series
Covid 19 situation bring me to started to watch all Korean and Chinese drama. After Nirvana in fire I found out that this drama is good to watched too. This drama is worth to watch...The male lead Hawick and the female lead have a very good chemistry together. I love to see how Hawick acted in this series. His eyes and face expression showed the pain and sorrow that he keep since he was a child. I will look for his other drama and movie to watch 😜.
I also like that he started to realized that revenge will only hurt himself and make peace with his father and siblings too.
As a non Chinese person, I would like to suggest this series to watch. Thanks to the English subtitle I can understand the series 😘

I was looking for a melodrama and stumbled upon this one. I've watched Hawick Lau's other drama and thought that I'd give this one a try, plus it's only 36 episodes, so it should be moving in a good pace. The drama started out strong and kept me interested and curious as to what's going to happen next. However, there are some inconsistencies which I don't know if it's because i wasn't paying attention towards the middle or it's just inconsistencies. For example, Hawick's character is deaf. Most movies or western series that I've watched, when the character is deaf, he or she doesn't speak well because they never heard how other people or themselves when they speak. So they speak in a mumbled or muffled sounds. Hawick's character speaks like a normal person without disabilities. Maybe he's not born with this disability or his hearing is only slightly impaired. He does wear a hearing aid in the first couple of episodes and later on when his disability is found. Another one is the character that i hate the most, Ying Ying. She's supposed to be this huge star and they did show that in the beginning, that she used a body double to escape her fans when she arrived at the airport. But other than that, she seemed to be going everywhere as a normal person would with no disguise and no fans lurking about. This is minor to the story, but kinda bugs me a little. The drama focuses more on the business, revenge and family angle with romance thrown in more like a sideline. So if you're looking for romance drama, this is not the one for you. Other than that, the drama is just so-so. I skipped many parts, so maybe that's why I might have missed Hawick's background story on his disability. Overall, this would not be a drama that I recommend. Was this review helpful to you?
(a bit about Can you hear my heart -Kdrama - Hwang Jung-Eum is so cute and young and the Kim Jae-Won looks very good and acts well in this one)
I have a weakness for the lead pair to be in a kind of devoted love that overcomes all barriers and they stand by their love through thick and thin. I dont really like the wavering hearts where the person goes to and fro between their lovers. I am yet to complete but overall - i like it when the lead girl professes to say "I will follow you to the end". Im just at the beginning of 15th episode but I must say the lead guys acting is quite good his narrowing of eyes while trying lip reading is so on the mark.
I also liked it when the girl cleanly ends moping over her first love - when she says she (ep 12 i think) knew that the guy doesnt love her when she saw his indifference while she was being ill treated by her mother and the other woman.
The lead and her girl friend are very cute - all in all good cast and good story.
If you are looking for a a drama where a person overcomes a handicap like a hearing loss -this one is for you, without making it preachy and the actress takes it that way and still shows him empathy and love.
