Du Kai Qi aspires to be the sous chef at the Figaro Cuisine, a famous French restaurant. With two qualified candidates for the position, the executive chef, Ji Yong Qian, decides to host a cooking competition between Du Kai Qi and the other contender Cheng Le Xuan. Meanwhile as the cooking competition progresses, Fu Zi Jie--after his father's prodding--enters Figaro Cuisine as an intern named Ah Jie. To the restaurant staff's surprise, Ji Yong Qian assigns Fu Zi Jie as the judge of the competition and he selects Le Xuan as the winner. Soon after the verdict is announced, Fu Zi Jie realizes that he and Kai Qi were childhood friends. Also after taking a drunk and devastated Kai Qi home, he realizes they are neighbors.

Somewhat Refreshing

So, I started this drama on a whim (like I do most dramas) and I was surprised at how good this is. The first episode nicely introduces all the characters and gives insight to their back-story in a very chill and mellow way. I didn't feel like the plot or the characters hurriedly revealed. I don't know, the tone of this drama just seems laid back. I think it is a little refreshing.

As for the actors, I'm not familiar with either one of them. I just couldn't watch "Just You" with Puff and I've seen no dramas with Jasper. Du Kai Qi and Fu Zi Jie are both somewhat atypical leads and the Puff and Jasper both are doing pretty good job so far.

To conclude, this episode did a good job of getting me interested. I got a good idea of the character personalities, plot direction, possible conflicts. Also after watching this episode I really started to hate the fact that only one episode airs per week. I'm looking forward to seeing how this drama develops!

Sweet and simple so far!

This episode was a pretty good pilot. We met all/most of the characters, and have a pretty good feel already for our two lead's personalities. I'm impressed with how Puff has played her character so far (very different from in Just You!), and while Jasper's character is very similar to his character from Amour et Patisserie (sweet and cheerful), I absolutely adored him there and am not complaining! Their chemistry looks promising too, so keep your fingers crossed!
