Tokyo Ghoul to Get a Live Action Film Adaptation
Jeon WooChi is a famous Joseon dynasty novel about the adventures of a man with magical powers who uses them to defend the poor and protect the kingdom. The story has been already adapted in theaters (2009) with Kang Dong Woo as the lead male. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's quite good!
The drama version (Jeon Woo-Chi) will start airing on November 21 on KBS and will take the place of Nice Guy/Innocent Man.
For those of you worried that it will just be a rehashing of the movie, the released plot does seem to be somewhat different from the movie's synopsis.
Jeon Woo-chi is a wizard who gained his power by swallowing a gumiho’s bead. After losing his mentor (Hong Gil Dong) and the love of his life due to a friend’s betrayal, he travels to Joseon to avenge their deaths. However, instead he ends up as a local hero.
Magic, action and a slight taste of romance sounds like the perfect combination for the upcoming drama written by Jo Myung Joo (King Gwanggaeto the Great, One Mom and Three Dads).
Jeonwoochi will star Cha Tae Hyun as Woo-Chi and is considered as Cha Tae Hyun's comeback to the small screen after three years of absence (since he starred in General Hospital 2). Many viewers expressed their joy about the lead male since he is known how to make his roles amusing. Some did express concern about his fighting skills.
Uee (Ojakgyo Brothers) will be playing the lead lady who will capture Woo-Chi’s heart; she’s Hong Gil Dong’s granddaughter Hong Mu Yeon and the princess of Yuldo. She falls prey to a dark Taoist magic and loses her emotions which make her commit a cruel murder. However, once in a month the spell weakens and she recalls her former self which leaves her emotionally anguished.
The shooting of the drama started on October 4[sup]th [/sup]and the released stills feature our two lead characters in full action motions.
