RECAP: Nine ep 3

Hi everyone I’m kJlover. In advance I am really sorry if my recapping is all over the place and confusing. I will improve it as soon as possible. As Tricia and Laura did the first two episodes, their recaps were so good with the summaries, whereas I am really bad at summarizing. So this may seem like literally watching the drama because I might have talked about every detail…. This is what I need to improve on.  Also this episode may be confusing with the entrance of two new characters from Sun Woo's past and the present. I will call the kid version of Sun Woo – Sun Woo (young), and the 2012 version – Sunwoo 12.

The 3rd episode begins from the last 3 minutes of the 2nd episode, but with a little bit more detail.
Quick recap: Sun Woo is in the waiting area and he lights the incense stick, right after that he hears his colleague calling him. He turns around but there is nobody there and he sees the 1992 version of a music program.
Then he calls the number on the pager from the phone at the 1992 version of the broadcast centre, he talks to the kid and when  Sun Woo says “because I am you” the line gets cut off and Sun woo is back in 2012 again.



Well, while everyone was panicking looking for Sun Woo 12, this lady comes to the waiting room to collect her make up bag and the wind caused by the bag knocks the incense stick to the floor.
Anyway so the colleague comes into the waiting room again to find Sun woo there.
Colleague says: "Sun Woo! What are you doing here? We were looking for you."
Then Sun Woo says: “I was really gone?”
Colleague says: What are you talking about? You were missing for 10 minutes
  
After confirming that he went missing, he goes back to the studio to record the news. They start recording the follow up story on the Mr evil Choi and then while they are airing the video, Sun Woo does the expression of him thinking about what just happened 10 minutes ago. The scene does the blackout transition and we are in the year

The phone line goes dead because Sun woo 12 time traveled. So Sun Woo young puts the phone back saying “What the hell?” Sun woo tells his young doctor-to-be friend that this man called and he know who Sun woo is and hanged up on him. Doctor to be friend says call him back, so Sun woo young calls his pager again.
  

Still in the recording of the news report and the video airing, Sun Woo 12’s pager rings. Sun woo takes it out to see that it’s the same number; his colleagues tease him for still having a pager. Sun woo ignores this and is [not sure what emotion it is but he makes this face] so it’s somewhere around worried/anxious/curious face.
  
After the video airing, the new report goes to Annapurna where Joo Min-Young reports about the hiking expedition.
  
Whilst the update from Annapurna is happening the scene changes to Choi evil guy’s study room. Then Sun Woo takes over to conclude the news and he's being watched by Choi Evil guy.
Then his secretary comes in to give details about Jung Woo’s Death. Choi guy finds out that Jung woo died while hiking in The Himalayas.
[Uh oh~ this is not good, I have a feeling later on in the episode he will look for the incense sticks too.]

After Choi guy absorbs the information of Jung Woo’s death the scene changes back to broadcast station. After the news reporting is done, Sun woo goes straight to the research colleague. Sun Woo finds out from him the information about the pager.
  
As everything including the address of the study hall and the year is the same as when he was a Junior student, the absurdness of the situation just makes him speechless and all he can do is smile with disbelief. After that he goes back to the waiting room area to inspect the ‘magic incense stick’. His curiosity nearly makes him to light the incense stick again in the waiting room. But he started thinking and decided against lighting the incense stick at his workplace. On his way back home he calls his doctor friend, to ask “Remember when I lost my pager, at Duksan Study Hall? “ . He continues to say “I talked to a man who took my pager. He didn’t say who he was and he knew everything about me”.
  
The doctor then says “The man who took your pager?” and then he suddenly remembers “OH!” . We then see a flashback of Sun Woo and doctor friend talking about it while eating Ramen when they were at Junior High school.
  
[If anyone is wondering who is Sun woo and the doctor friend the glasses guy is the doctor friend and Hyunsik is Sun woo]
We come back to present from the flashback and the doctor repeats, what he remembered to Sun woo 12.
  
The astonishing thing is that the doctor knows about the water tank breaking, when Sun woo didn’t even tell him.
So Sun Woo says “You remember?”
Doctor friend says: “Yeah! You couldn’t find your pager.”
So Sun Woo repeats again with disbelief “YOU DO REMEMBER?” and Sun Woo just laughs with disbelief.

Sun woo arrives home, gets out of the car and continues to talk to doctor “How is this possible? This is even harder to believe than me being diagnosed” he continues to say that he will tell the doctor friend later and not to think that he has gone crazy. Because the doctor thinks that Sun woo is crazy that means the Doctor friend is crazy too because the doctor friend somehow know what happened too.

Sun woo hangs up and opens his gate, at the same time you see that his car fades as soon as he enters his house. Then you see it’s 1992 again and Sun woo arrives home from school.
  
  
So sun woo says bye to his doctor-to-be friend and goes into this house. The scene then changes to Jung Woo’s bedroom where he is struggling to write a perfect letter.
  
When suddenly Sun woo comes into the room and Jung woo quickly covers the letter with a book. Sun woo comes to talk about the weird situation that happened to him with the man who found the pager and knows him. Sun Woo young is unable to continue as his mum calls him downstairs. Sun woo leaves the room and Jung woo locks the door so that he won’t be disturbed again. Jung woo goes back to his writing his letter to Yoo Jin and this is his last letter to her.
  
As Jung Woo left the house to post the letter, Sun Woo is not able to talk about the weird situation that happened. So the scene changes to see Sun woo already in bed ready to sleep. Before going to sleep he thinks of the phone call with the man. When he thinks about when the man said “ I knew it because I am you” Sun Woo gets up and says:
  
Then we are back in 2012 again. Sun Woo enters his room and goes straight to his drawers which contains his diary from 1992.  He takes it out and then goes to sit down at his desk to read the diary. Then we see a split screen of both 1992 and 2012. Sun Woo young gets up and sits down to write on his diary whilst Sun woo-12 sits down to read his diary.
  
  
[So the past changed when Sun Woo-12 went back in time and called Sun Woo young, the diary is already modified according to what Sun Woo young wrote]

Sun Woo young then goes back to bed and we have the 2012 Sun Woo still thinking. Thinking that this is what his brother Jun Woo was going to find (the incense sticks) and understands what Jun Woo meant by living just like we were in the past. Meaning that his brother was planning to go back in time and prevent his dad being caught by the fire and everything else. So that they could live normally and happily.
Then finally he decides to go through the box of belongings that he received in Nepal. And he starts reading Jung Woo’s travel diary. And now we will read the diary.
Jung woo is on the plane and he thinks to himself “will I find it” and then he writes down the address of the place where the object he is looking for is...
  
Then Sun Woo turns to the next page to find the phrase “ Nine incense stick that he left “ and this repeats Sun Woo 2012’s mind like mantra.
Then we zone out of the screen with opera melody and it is the -----Next Day-----
The camera zones in to the conversation between Joo Min young’s colleagues. They are discussing how it’s Sun Woo’s fault for making the Choi guy angry and other high status people.  But Joo Min young is not listening; she is zoned out thinking about her conversation with Doctor Friend. She recalls what the doctor friend said:
"His hallucinations are getting worse, It’s typical with the disease. I think he keeps going back to his high school days. That’s why he almost couldn’t make it to the news last night. He needs to quit immediately, he may do something bad."
After the doctor friend is done nagging, he says, "Did you know that Sun Woo went there?"
Joo Min Young asks,"Where? I'm still at Nepal."
Then, the doctor friend says:
The reason for Sun Woo's visit is...
After the recall of the conversation is finished. We are back at the restaurant with Joo Min Young's colleagues. 
Coincidentally, Joo min young looks outside to see Sun woo getting off his car and then gets up to go and talk to him right away. But we flashback again to the conversation with the doctor friend where Joo Min asks what she should do for Sun woo and doctor friend says just do what he (Sun woo) says.

Anyway so she doesn't leave to talk to him, but instead, she texts him and they are literally in front of each other. She first texts him saying,
Then Sun Woo looks around to see where she might be. She is actually watching him from the balcony but he doesn’t look up.
Joo Min Young then texts, "Looking for me? I'm right here."
Sun Woo: "Why are you texting if you saw me?"
Joo Min Young:
Sun  Woo texts back:  “I’m your Boyfriend?” 
Joo Min then texts back “Aren’t we going out?” 
Sun Woo texts “I thought I was rejected” and Joo Min texts ‘I felt bad, so I take it back”. Sun Woo then texts back saying: “Thanks but no thanks"
They text a little more until the guy we saw in the first episode, the detective comes and interrupts. Sun Woo concludes the texting bickering with “ I have to go. See you in Seoul."
  
Joo Min then starts writing to say “why did you…..” [probably, "Why did you come to Nepal?"] but before she decides to send the text she gets a text from Sun Woo saying….. And then he leaves with the detective.
  
Sun Woo and detective stop somewhere and Sun Woo asks about ‘Maruna Lodge’, the detectives say that they closed down because of increased amount of hiking accidents. But Sun Woo already knows that because he did his homework and already found out that it closed in 2002. Anyway detective asks nonsense questions because he doesn’t know (like 'why are you looking at Maruna Lodge if you already know it has closed down' questions) Sun Woo just says can you find me someone who is familiar with that area. Then we see Sun Woo walking and climbing past houses and stairs to finally reach. To finally reach, somewhere near a hut with a beautiful Himalaya landscape.
Then he goes there and records a message to his doctor friend, Yong Hoon:
"December 22, 2012."
  
He continues recording  “If my condition worsens beyond control, please try to understand after listening to this. What I have experienced and what I am about to do. Yong Hoon. I believe that my brother died in search of a time machine. One thing for sure is that he obtained an incense stick that could take him back to 20 years ago."

We find out that while Jung Woo obtained that one stick from this old guy, he also heard a secret about the guy who actually used the incense stick to save his family and the rest of the incense sticks that he didn’t use were left behind at the lodge in January 1992.  From this Jung Woo had hoped because their dad died in December 1992 and he obtained the stick in 2012 so the time gap is exactly 20 years. With that hope Jung Woo went on a plane to Nepal.
  
So Jung Woo went and without greed, he got one incense stick but coming back he got caught in a blizzard and couldn’t even light it. With that he (Sun Woo) stops his record and we see him hiking up the mountain with a guide who probably knows the place where the lodge was. But before Sun Woo is able to go higher, he gets one of his headaches and takes a blue pill with much difficulty. The guide is worried, not because Sun Woo is kneeling down and touching his head in pain but because there are heavy snows without warning at this time of the year.
So they start moving, then after some more hiking they arrive where the lodge might have been if it existed. The guide goes off to find definite foundation rocks to confirm whether it’s the area where the lodge was.  He thinks to himself “Young Hoon! Even if it is all because of my disease and it’s all delusional, I have to believe it” [I think this is part of what he recorded]  and he continues to think.
While the guide is gone, Sun Woo gets ready and takes out his incense stick which is inside a safe wind free holder.  We flashback to Jun woo’s estimation of the burning time of the incense stick so because the incense stick is 30 cm he will have around 30 minutes worth of time in the past. Then Sun Woo calculates the amount he might have with the used incense stick. He only has 10 minutes to actually find the sticks. He thinks to himself “The chance is forever lost if I don’t find it within 10 minutes” . He then sets his watch to 10 minutes and ready ACTION!
  
He goes in quickly; cleverly ask the reception to see his friend in room 201. The room is upstairs so he runs upstairs rings the bell, and the woman inside goes “Who is it?” he explains that he took the room before her and that he left something. But just his (Sun woo’s) luck the woman had a shower and is only wearing her bathrobes and drying her hair -_-
  
The woman takes her time, by switching on the radio, drying her hair slowly whilst Sun Woo gets impatient with each passing second. He couldn’t take it anymore and barges into the door forcing the door open. The woman is wearing her bathrobe so it’s fine, Sun Woo runs towards the bed, checks under the mattress then inside the mattress to find the incense stick container. Whilst he briefly celebrates his success, the reception guy comes and punches him.
  
The woman was so scared that she must have gone and told the owner, a crazy guy broke into my room. So Sun Woo gets some punches and he drops the incense container, and then he gets another punch and picks up the container. Sun Woo then tries to explain that he means no harm just wanted get what he wanted. But they don’t hear so the reception guy punches him again, causing Sun Woo to drop the container again. The container rolls out of the room to the corridor, so Sun Woo tries to get it back, after more pointless action Sun woo ends up rolling downstairs. He gets punched again, and the container flies up in the air and time is running out. With only 2 seconds remaining of his time, he grabs the falling container and falls down in the snow instead of the wooden floor of the lodge.

He holds the incense container and a music record from 1992 that he picked up to defend himself at the lodge.
  
With his mood up, he then goes back to the hotel and Joo Min Young finds him in his room. Joo Min Young says they might as well skip to the honeymoon because both are together now. After some bickering and crying from Joo Min Young because she doesn’t know what to do. Sun Woo tells Joo Min Young “You said it’s our honeymoon right?” and he goes and locks the door.
  
Then they have an intense kiss scene in the 3rd episode!
[Do you think they are actually dating in real life? If they are it’s like the time travel thing has an effect on relationships, I mean I love the Inhyun couple :D wonder if they have that in this drama too]
Sun Woo pauses kissing and says “Don’t you think 3 month is too short” he continues talking  “How about three years?"
  
Joo Min Young then ask “So are you going to do the therapy?”. 
Then Sun Woo says “I don’t know, as long as I don’t die it doesn’t matter right? Do you want to bet who lives longer? I am confident all of a sudden. Fool! I totally got you now, you’re mine now.”
Joo Min Young asks : “Why did you come here?”
Sun Woo replies: “For our Honeymoon.”
"Really?"
"It’s a secret." Then they continue kissing. 
While they kiss, Sun Woo records again in his thoughts:
