Before I start, let me please note that this is NOT a list of my favorite kiss scenes ('cause that would be a whole new list ;) ). These are the scenes where the characters finally came clean about how they felt. Though most do include a kiss, this is not what I've judged these on - and these are just my own opinions.

I've separated these out by country, as each country's dramas have their own characteristics and style - all of which are hard to describe. With that being said, let me share my top 3 dramaland confession scenes from each country.

Japanese dramas (at least the ones I've seen) are less complicated, though in no way dull. There doesn't seem to be as many twists and turns to the story in a lot of cases and with the shorter episode runs, they seem to be quite fast-paced. Maybe this has something to do with a lot of the dramas I've seen being based on anime/manga.

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge - Ep. 10
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/53r/291179961052219826_34709a1b_f.jpg
This is so cute. After a scary, exciting day (I could not sit still the entire episode) he hugs her from behind and says:
"Not as a lady; not even as a 'horror girl'. YOU, just as you are. For me, though you hate yourself, I love you."
This is something which is really important to them both, as they both have complexes about outward image. He puts the bracelet back on her and asks her to move back home with everyone and I find that really sweet. I love that she still finds him 'bright' but he works around it. The whole scene seems to fit the couple perfectly and I loved every second of it. Even the kiss at the end of the scene was perfect for them.

Pride - End of Ep. 6
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/d90/291186237908973270_9a35f300_f.jpg
With the two main characters being in a 'game' relationship (only temporary, till Aki's boyfriend returns), no-one is being truthful about how they really feel - but Halu lets Aki into his apartment, where no other girl is allowed, after he is hurt by his mother. Then there is a really sweet and touching moment of sympathy and caring and they end up in bed. In a beautiful moment - as Aki is telling Halu of her strange dream, Halu had something important to say but was cut off, Halu explains if it was something important he wanted to say it must be:
"Aki, I love you."

It's so simple, so unlike a lot of what I've seen before. This confession is so un-dramatic and low-key that it makes it all that extra special. I also love how comfortable they are the next morning. I only watched this drama recently, and it immediately jumped into my top few favorites.

Buzzer Beat - Ep. 8
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/uas/291189376337349992_a3cb2a2b_f.jpg
Riko confessed in an earlier episode and basically got rejected, and told to stay away from Naoki. In episode 8, Naoki finally realizes that he loves her too much to not do anything about it. As Riko is shouting out the window that she won’t come within 5 meters of him anymore so she doesn't want him to say he won't see her anymore, he rushes up to her apartment door, kisses the living daylights out of her and announces he loves her.
"I love Shirakawa-san."
"Me too, I love you. Don't leave me anymore."

He can't seem to let go of her. I think this is my favorite Yamapi kiss, and I love the whole scene, but the idea that just as he's honest with her he then immediately has to hide from her unsuspecting friends is awesome (she has amazing hearing). He spends the night in her room, listening to her talk with her friends and eventually falling asleep on her bed--leading to a really cute hug scene.

"Riko, that's what I'll call you."
"Then...Naoki. That's what I'll call you."

From what I've seen, Taiwan tends to have the beautiful emotions, lots of tears, and they are not afraid to approach slightly darker subject matter. They also tend to be quite long, drawing the story out a little bit more (though managing not to let it drag).

It Started with a Kiss - Ep. 29
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/brm/291195653194103436_bf525b9b_f.jpg
These two are probably one of my favourite couples. Ok this is technically a kiss, a proposal and a confession all rolled into a couple of scenes. I'm including the whole thing since I like that he's asking the parents first - it appeals to the traditional old romantic in me. I was crying along with everyone else on the show. I love the drama of this confession - and he does properly confess later in the ep when she asks.
There's a whole big kissing in the rain scene (I love this, even if I think they overdid it a bit with the amount of water pouring down his face), followed by asking the parents if they can get married.
"I hope the person I'll spend the rest of my life with will only be Xian Qin. Uncle Cai, please let Xiang Qin marry me."
(To Xiang Qin) "Are you willing to marry me?"
*Nods*

Craziness ensues in typical Taiwanese drama style--culminating with XQ passing out. My favorite part, however, is the scene after she comes around from passing out. Xiang Qin wakes up to find Zhi Shu lying next to her, watching her. He tries to be all cool about worrying if she's ok. She asks him to stay because she's worried he'll deny any of it happened in the morning (like he'd have a chance with his mum knowing).
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/m8z/291201930050856880_d342d3eb_f.jpg
"I've really lost to you. Have I not made it obvious at all?"
"But have you said it before?"
"I really like you."
"I heard it..."
"I only found out today. Why is it whenever I face you I lose control? Because of you, I found myself."

Even the mum and dad hanging around in the background (totally not obvious...) with a video camera can't ruin this for me.

MARS - Ep. 3

Unlike any of the others, this is one of my all time favorites  With such a shy girl confessing - It's sort of impressive. She sees through his barriers and looks at the real him and he's moved by this. It's not often you see a confession so early in a drama. And then later in the same episode all your hopes disappear as he clearly has a conscience attack and tells her it meant nothing. Poor girl.
“No, it's not like that. You're not that kind of person. I can feel it. You need a lot of love. Maybe love is too burdensome for you so you'd rather live your life with your eyes closed. You're only fortifying yourself by constantly changing girlfriends."
"I'm just that kind of person. You should stay away from me."
“I tell myself to stay away from you. I'm afraid you might hurt me, you can't possibly like me. But the more I tell myself this, the more I'm drawn to you involuntarily. In the end, I can't even walk away."

Hanazakarino Kimitachihe (Hana Kimi Taiwan) - Ep. 10
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/clw/291214483764363768_0b443657_f.jpg
I love this one purely for the comedic value. Seeing Xiu Yi stood up high declaring that he is gay and in love with Rui Xi - who happens to be a girl - made me giggle. It's still one of my favorite scenes from this show. It is short, and to the point. I feel bad for Xiu Yi and his confusion, but can't help laughing at him calling himself Rui Xi his boyfriend and getting jealous of everyone else. Jiro Wang manages to pull this off so well, and Ella Chen's OTT facial expressions make it all that extra awesome.

"Everyone, I'm gay! I've come out of the closet! Rui Xi, I love you!"
"Let's hurry up and leave."
*Runs away fast*

To me, Korean dramas feel very dramatic, stylish and eye-catching. This doesn't mean they are superficial or shallow - just the opposite, in fact. They just have a certain visual style which adds another dimension to the stories.
Coffee Prince - Ep. 10
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/kci/291220760621117212_1a7f2b88_c.jpg http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/2m6/291217622192740490_cbb97847_c.jpg
I bet you saw this one coming. Need I really explain?
"Just once, I'll say this just once; I like you. Whether you're a man or an alien, I don't care anymore."
*MELTS*
Faith - Ep. 13
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/y37/291227037477870656_70f086c2_f.jpg
So while this drama left a lot to be desired in many ways, it is still one of my favorites  A lot of this is more or less down to the love story between King Gongmin and Queen Noguk. This couple's love story is so special it shot right up into my top ten immediately--and they're not even the main couple in the drama. In this episode, after a lot of misunderstanding and confusion, Queen Noguk invites the King to her rooms for drinks. She asks him to let her help by sending for aid from her family in Yuan. The King, without saying anything gets up and walks around the table. He shows her the present he had made for her, and then passes her a box asking if she remembers.
After a flashback showing how they met, he wonders why she didn't tell him who she really was or that she knew who he was at the time. He says that although he is King, he doesn't have much - only his principles - To resist Yuan and look after his people. Noguk realizes that asking for help from Yuan would go against his principles. Gongmin's reply is to the point:
http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/l0r/291223899049493934_63feaffb_f.jpg
"I have already broken my principle once. I vowed I would not embrace the likes of a Yuan woman in my heart. I broke it."
It is such a sweet, honest confession I can't help but love it. Wiping away her tear and holding her hand is so simple yet beautiful. After the confession, the whole relationship between the two is so adorable. Through everything they are supportive and caring of each other and so obviously in love - in their own reserved King and Queen way. I'm sad we didn't get to see more of them, especially after the end time skip.

King 2 Hearts

Originally, I was going to have Lee Jae Ha's confession and apology by way of handmade cosmetics here as it was so original, but then I saw episode 19...
If you've seen this drama, you'll know exactly why when I say I was crying my eyes out during this confession. Eun Shi Kyung is possibly one of my favorite characters in any drama - he has a strong sense of justice, through the hardest tests (and boy, does he go through a lot) he remains strong and yet at times (usually around Jae Shin) he's like a cute, shy little boy – as you see in his recording.
This has to be the most heartbreaking confession I've seen, and even if it weren't so sad, I would still love it simply for the fact he recorded it on VHS - Dong Ha even laughs at how childish and outdated it is. This scene just pulls at your heartstrings till you're left a wailing mess on the floor (almost).

"From the time I first met you, I already liked you...You won't be able to watch this, it's not like I'm going to die. I'll come back as a really impressive person... I will come back and tell you personally that I love you."
At this point I just dissolved into a mess of tears...There's a reason I don't normally watch melodramas.

That's all folks! As I have obviously not seen ALL of the dramas ever made, there may be a few that you think are missing off the list. I'm always looking for suggestions for new dramas to watch, as I'm sure many of us here on MDL are, so if you have any ideas or recommendations, feel free to share.

What has been your favorite confession in a drama so far and why?
