Tokyo Ghoul to Get a Live Action Film Adaptation
We finally get some updates about the second season of the hit TvN drama Reply 1997 now known as Reply 1994.
It’s been announced that the second season won’t pick up after the first season’s end, but the story will go back in time which makes it set in 1994.
As for the cast: It has been revealed that Go Ah Ra (Snow Flower, Who Are You), Yoo Yeon Seok (A Werewolf Boy, Gu Family Book), Kim Sung Kyun (Nameless Gangster, Neighbors), and Jung Woo (Cinderella Man, The Best Lee Soon Shin) will be the main cast for Reply 1994 as well as the parents from the first season. The story will talk about Go Ah Ra’s college life; she plays the role of Sung Don Il and Lee Il Hwa’s daughter while Yoo Yeon Seok, Kim Sung Kyun and Jung Woo will play the role of college students living together in Sung Don Il and Lee Il Hwa’s house. Once again the story will center on the k-pop group “Seo Taiji and Boys”, who were famous in South Korea back in 1994, as well as on basketball.
The first season’s cast; Seo In Guk, Jung Eun Ji, Shin So Yool, Eun Ji Won, Lee Shi Un and Lee Ho Ya were requested for cameos in the second season. The broadcast representative revealed: "They haven't decided on the role or a specific time, but they will be paying back the viewers who showed them love in the 1st season with their cameos."
A little bonus for k-pop fans; B1A4’s member Baro and Tiny-G’s member, Min Do Hee, and Son Ho Joon confirmed appearing in the drama.
The first season broke records with the highest ratings for a cable channel and won several K-Drama star awards such as Best Couple award for Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji, Rising Star award for both Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji as well as the best OST which made viewers express their worries about this second season and its potential of living up to the first one since sequels are hard to do and can never be equal to the original series.
Shooting will start in July and the air date is set for September. Are you willing to give this second season a chance?
