Tokyo Ghoul to Get a Live Action Film Adaptation
This is such wonderful news! After their great combination in Hana Kimi (2007), Oguri Shun and Ikuta Toma will reunite in the live action adaptation of Kanazaki Yuuya’s manga titled Ouroboros. There will be no silliness this time - Ouroboros is an action-packed crime thriller with sprinkles of mystery and psychology thrown here and there.
The ongoing manga tells the story of Ikuo Ryuzaki and Danno Tatsuya. When they were little, they were under the care of a benevolent person they called “Sensei”. However, their beloved Sensei is brutally assassinated. The police officers in charge of the investigation quickly wrap up the investigation as if nothing happened. 15 years later, Ryuzaki has become a police inspector and Tatsuya a Yakuza leader. With only vengeance on their minds, the two childhood friends secretly work together to avenge their Sensei and destroy the organization who had him killed.
Isn’t that interesting?! The two leads will be on different sides of the legal world but with the same objective. Best of all, they’re Shun and Toma! I'm positive this will be one of the best dramas of that season! Even though the roles aren't released yet, I am certain both actors will do an amazing job regardless of which character they're assigned to.
The drama is scheduled to start airing January 2015 on TBS (winter season is too far away!).
