Kanjani Eight

Ryo as a kid (too cute for words) :3

Q: How did you became Ryo-chan's stalker?
A: Well… First time I saw Ryo was inOrthros no Inu but even thought I liked him there it still didn’t hit me back then. Second time I saw him was in Last Friends and he’s acting totally blew me up so I decided to learn more about him, watched few videos on YT and I was won over aka I became official Ryo-chan’s fan/stalker.
Q: So what is so special about this guy?
A: He’s so hot and handsome and cute at the same time. He has beautiful eyes and most adorable smile ever. Not to mention that soothing voice of his. And he’s so talented. He’s acting and singing skills are awesome. No matter what kind of role it is, his message will come across. Songs he wrote are so meaningful and memorable. He’s a great dancer as well and he’s guitar skills are amazing (he’s learning other instruments like harmonica and piano as well). He can cook and do back flips, he reads manga… I could go on forever like this so I’ll just have to stop myself here.

Drama:
1. Orthros no Inu (2009)
A God and a Devil whose roles are reversed.
What kind of consequences is their encounter going to cause?
What is the difference between good and evil and is it really that big?
Orthros no Inu is a story about corruption. It just shows how cruel reality really is. And it does that part perfectly. Money, politics, religion, exploitation, betrayal… it's such a painful but powerful story. It left me thinking about many things…
Did I mention awesome bromance?^^
Nishikido Ryo plays as Aoi Ryosuke who possesses a power to kill anyone just by touching them. He's a good guy, though. So, is this power a gift, or a curse, and how is he going to deal with it? With inner struggles and difficult decisions his character needed to make, Ryo did an amazing job acting it out.
2. Last Friends (2008)
Watch OP here (it’s one of the best I’ve seen)
Last Friends is a story about a group of young people who are all connected in some way and each of them have their own issues. It talks about various problems (domestic violence, gender identity disorder, traumas from the past…). It's a dark, realistic and informative series.
In Last Friends Nishikido Ryo plays an emotionally and physically abusive boyfriend with multiple personalities. His acting here was brilliant. Absolutely psychotic and quite creepy as well (which is a purpose of the series). I would even say that this role really makes him shine as an actor. I mean, how can such a cute guy suddenly send shivers down my spine?
3. Ryusei no Kizuna (2008)
Ryusei no Kizuna is a story about 3 siblings who vowed to find and kill their parents murderer. It's a nice blend of past and present, comedy and drama. First half of the series is surprisingly funny (a lot of swindling) and later it gets more and more serious and emotional.
Nishikido Ryo plays as Arike Taisuke, (a bit dumb) younger brother. He's acting here is great and his character is absolutely hilarious. Also, because of swindling, you'll see him in all kind of roles here.
4. 1 Litre of Tears (2005)
This drama is based on a true story of Kitou Aya, a girl who was diagnosed with Spinocerebellar Degeneration (incurable disease that stole things dear to her one by one) ate age of 15. She was writing in a diary every day until she could no longer hold a pen. Shortly before Aya's death, her diary was turned into a book called One Liter of Tears and has sold over 18 000 000 copies. It's a beautiful, honest and sad drama full of motivational scenes and quotes. It had such a huge impact on me and made me think about the way I live my life now. You need to watch it because it's truly amazing and inspiring but be ready to really cry 1 liter of tears.
Nishikido Ryo plays as Asou Haruto. At first he is quite antisocial (due to his dark past) but because of that he comes to understand Aya the best. Even tough he's a fictional character (Aya's mother wanted Aya to have touch of romance in series since she didn't have in life) he fit so naturally to the flow of the story. Also, Ryo-chan is so honest here, you need to see his smile in 9th episode. Kawaii!
5. Zenkai Girl (2011)
Ambitious lawyer meets a single father who is (in terms of education, life preferences etc.) complete opposite of her and that's were our romantic comedy starts. Honestly, I dislike this kind of series so I didn't have high expectations for it but Zenkai Girl pleasantly surprised me. It's really addictive, touching and fun series. It also searches through life and family values.
Yamada Sota played by Nishikido Ryo is a an adorable, nice and a bit awkward guy surrounded by children. His struggles between being a good father and becoming a chef at a French restaurant (which is his dream) are rather well done.
When it comes to Ryo-chan's movies, I didn't see many, or rather, I saw just one.
It's called Chonmage Purin (2010) and you should check it out if you want to see Ryo playing Pokemon cards as samurai who makes the best sweets ever (just be careful because you'll be hungry after this one).
By the way, if anyone can provide me with link to watch 8Uppers (2010), I'll be grateful to them for my whole life.
It's time for me to end this article but, before that, enjoy Ryo-chan's original song Code and, maybe, try to guess the meaning behind his words.
