Unpopular Dramas That I Liked

Since my previous article got lots of positive reactions, instead of writing a second part, I thought a little change might be interesting.

There are dramas that the world liked, but a few people did not. There are dramas that the world did not like, but a few people did.

You must have been through an experience like this yourselves. Liking a drama that most people didn’t. Wondering why such a good drama did not get the attention it deserved.

Honestly, I’ve got no answer to that. But I’ve experienced it and I'll be going through some cases in this article:

1. Prosecutor Princess

If you asked people who dropped this drama, “Why did you drop this?”, most of them would answer: “I couldn’t stand Kim So Yeon’s character in the drama."

I agree with that. She played a spoiled, careless, rich girl who had it all… but I also suggest being patient.

Kim So Yeon’s character development isn't your usual case of character development. And then there's the handsome Park Shi Hoo to stir things up.

Personally, I really enjoyed watching Prosecutor Princess. The main characters' chemistry was something else. I loved how the romance part was more of a slow burn. I loved how Park Shi Hoo’s had a mysterious side that I looked forward to seeing. Most importantly, the twist of this drama was well-written.

2.  Ugly Alert

Wow. This drama… when it comes to describing how perfect it was, I get speechless.

It’s about a good young kid who wants to have a family. So when his father gives him one, he grows up protecting and raising them with all his effort.

Gong Joon Soo serves time in prison for taking the blame for a murder his brother committed unintentionally. In there, he learns how to sew. After serving his time, he meets the daughter of the boss of a big fashion company and starts working under her. Can the love between a murderer and a rich girl blossom?

If you’re planning to tell me that 133 episodes is too much, then don’t bother. Because such a beautiful story that talks about humanity, family and love needs 133 episodes to deliver the messages it holds.

133 episodes, yet not a single boring scene. That's what I call a good drama.

3.  My Heart Twinkle Twinkle

Watching this drama was one of the most confusing things I’ve done in my drama life. I watched 25 episodes while being in a love-hate relationship with this drama. Twenty-five episodes of wondering whether Bae Su Bin (main lead) is a good guy or a bad guy. I kept on wondering whether I would give it a high or a low rating. Thankfully, episode 26 sealed it for me. Daebak!

An arrogant bastard who’s madly in love makes a decision that changes the life of the woman he loves. How will the war between two families end? Can a man and a woman be together when a tragic incident hits them?

Of course, lots of people might disagree. Others might have their own dramas that they feel about like this. Feel free to comment below with your thoughts. Tell me about your list of unpopular dramas. Who knows? I might end up really enjoying them. Hidden gems are there for a reason.
