Who Was Hotter: Original Art vs. Live Action Adaptation

Did the live action succeed in capturing the true essence of the original character art design or did the original art prevail?

#1 Cheese in the Trap (Webtoon) Yoo Jung:

I would say that yes, the art is nice. However, Park Hae Jin stole the show and deserves a 10! He was so much more handsome than his manga counterpart and succeeded in capturing our hearts and attention in the live action.

The Webtoon can be read online and is by Soonkki.

#2 Goong (Manhwa) Prince Shin:

Goong Manhwa  by Park So Hee

Princess Hours has left me undecided with male lead Joo Ji Hoon portraying Prince Shin, maybe it was the hair style, actor’s performance, or lack of illustrated ‘guy-liner’ as seen in the manhwa. The stuck up, and stubborn charismatic air of Prince Shin, did not seem as strongly displayed in the adaptation. In this case, full points to the manhwa art by Park So Hee.

#3 Hana Yori Dango (Manga) Tsukasa Domyoji:

Hana Yori Dango Manga by Yoko Kamio,

The infamous Leader of the F4, Tsukasa Domyoji, has been represented through various renditions. But for some reason, despite some top actors portraying him such as Matsumoto Jun, Lee Min Ho and Yan Jerry, I feel like no one has really fulfilled the Tsukasa of the original manga. I award all points to the original art, though I have to say good effort to all the actors who tried to carry on the legacy of Tsukasa Domyoji.  What would your thoughts be on a modernized take on BOF?

And here is a little list of the various adaptations for you to explore:

Hana Yori Dango
Boys Over Flowers
Meteor Garden

#4 Death Note (Manga/Anime) Light Yagami:mLAKZ9z4_5a3b32_f.jpg

Death Note Manga by Tsugumi Ohba.

In the manga/anime. Light Yagami is a handsome, well-respected young man with a dark secret. He is the publicly feared Kira, the one who kills criminals and others he deems worthy of death, by writing their names in the Death Note. While there are a couple of live action adaptations of the manga, for this comparison we will be going with the 2015 version where Light is played by Kubota Masataka

It looks like it's a tie with the original art!  Kubota and Manga version of Light are both equally beautiful.

#5 Skip Beat (Manga) Ren Tsuruga:

Skip Beat Manga by Yoshiki Nakamura.

This 'Top Star' in the manga has it all: Killer good looks, is tal, and has incredible charisma. In the live action adaptation, he is portrayed by Choi Si Won. It was cute, albeit a little dorky in some areas, but he was a great Dung He Lian (Ren). And by a hair, I’d say this actor succeeded in looking a smidge more attractive than the original art.

What do you think? Did these adaptations live up to their characters?
