Korean Dramas as Disney Princess Movies
Helping put up holiday decorations with your family is fun, but exhausting. Since the holiday season is nearly upon us, I decided to put together a list of family dramas to enjoy.
1. Reply 1997 | Korean Drama
When you get together with your family, they tend to talk about the past a lot, like a lot, and somehow it always seem to be about you. But you also talk about the present too.
The Reply Series is full of nostalgia. Even if you didn't grow up in the 90s or in Korea, you can still relate to the characters.
2. 11 Nin Mo Iru | Japanese Drama
Usually during Thanksgiving and Christmas, we have a huge turn out of people that come to eat. Most of the time the dining room, the kitchen, and the living room are full of people.
This drama is about a family of 11. They're a lot like the Weasley family from Harry Potter - except they're muggles. Although they're a big family, they all love and watch out for one another.
3. Seigi no Mikata | Japanese Drama
Everyone who has a sibling knows what it's like... they're annoying. I am the first born and my brother is the second born. We fight how normal siblings fight; he tried to drowned me in the bathtub when I was little, I ran him over with the lawnmower, he tells me 'I'm lucky that mom picks up strays off the side of the road', I try to feed him in his sleep - just normal stuff.
Anyway, this drama is about two sisters. The drama is mainly seen through the eyes of the younger sister, while the oldest daughter is portrayed as an evil queen.
4. Dare Yori mo Mama wo Aisu | Japanese Drama
In this day and age, most families don't have the traditional lifestyle that they had back in the 'Andy Griffith' and 'I Love Lucy' days. By traditional lifestyle, I mean ones where the husband goes to work, while the wife stays at home. In most households that I know of personally, both parents work.
In this drama, the traditional Japanese lifestyle flies out the door. A mom that goes to work while the dad stays home and does housework, along with their children; a gay son, a daughter who's tough, and a young son. This drama takes a look at the non traditional family.
5. Atashinchi no Danshi | Japanese Drama
If you spend the holidays with people related to you by blood or not, the holidays are a time to spend it with people you love and care about - even if they're crazy and annoying.
This one is about a family, not related by blood, but related with the strong bond that they have with each other. A woman finds herself having to be a mother to 7 handsome young men to pay off her debt.
