We all know some clichés that happen in almost EVERY romantic comedy. Since that is my favourite genre I have seen a lot of these.  Here are 5 that I have noticed:

1. Rain Scenes

Another Miss Oh

In every drama, there HAS to be a rain scene. Whether they are kissing in the rain, fighting or just sharing an umbrella, it is not a rom-com without a scene in the rain.

2. One of the leads gets sick (probably from staying out in the rain)
and the other lead takes care of them.

Full House

We have all stumbled across a scene like this. The one who's not sick is probably taking the lead's temperature, covering them with a blanket, giving them water and making soup or rice porridge.

3. Piggyback rides (probably the FL got drunk)

        Personal Taste

Another common cliche is the piggyback ride. Often we see the FL being carried by the ML. The probability is that she passed out from alcohol, twisted her ankle, or just couldn't walk properly. However, it's always cute to see the ML carrying her.

4. Girls drooling over the ML (because he's hot)

       Boys Over Flowers

And let's face it, he probably is! However, the girls in dramas exaggerate and act like he's the only good-looking guy in the world. They are also probably saying that the FL is not good enough for him. This is a cliché that I really don't like.

5. The leads get into a situation where they are close enough to kiss
(and are looking into each other's eyes)

Ani ni Aisaresugite Komattemasu

This is usually how the sparks start between the two. Although it is a cute moment, sometimes it is also very awkward and totally predictable.

BONUS: wrist grabs

Boys Over Flowers (again)

Everyone's favourite hehe... I think we can all agree that it is not a rom-com without at least one cliche, and let's face it, at the end of the day, we love them.
