BREAKING YOUR HABIT: Unusual Plot Recommendations

I started to watch dramas with a fairy tale plot where the gorgeous male and female leads fell in love with each other, mixing in conflict with second leads and some wicked character in the form of mother, mother-in-law, their jealous friend, you name it. There are lots of hindrances but in the end they will triumph and "THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER." And I really enjoyed it.. :) 

It has been like that for many, many years until I suddenly craved to explore other types of plot and unique settings. I understand that they are not for everyone and most of them may look like they are not your cup of tea. 

Trust me, I've been there, but somehow I started to love it and appreciate those dramas more, even without love interests and sometimes they are about politics or just a story of our daily life. Somehow it grew on me.

Here are some recommendations. Enjoy! :) 

"The stories of overworked prosecutors' daily lives in Seoul. A drama depicting the mundane daily routine of overworked prosecutors staying up all night to tackle all the different cases handed over by the police."

With a powerhouse cast like Lee Sun Kyun and Jung Ryeo Won, it looks like exciting, right? But when you read the plot and see the poster, honestly, it's not that enticing. IT LOOKS BORING. How can it be interesting just showing the life of a group of prosecutors? No love interests, many political struggles and just a bunch of grownups eating and drinking together.

Well, better hold your beer tight because you will experience a lot of laughs and many heartwarming scenes in this drama. I never got bored watching every episode and somehow you can learn many values and a realistic way to deal with situations in your workplace and standing up for your beliefs. 

"It revolves around the friends' twilight years as they rediscover themselves through relationships and family, the struggles they face due to their old age, and their life journey."

Look at that poster. Looking young guys! A drama about the life of old people and a middle-aged woman is the lead.  Maybe it will not be interesting especially to young viewers or even the adult ones. Most of us will put it on our watch list but it will not be a priority. 

Well, this is the time to give it a GO! You will love the different personality of each character while looking back and tracing what they were like when they were young.  It's funny, adorable and you will really look at your life right now and realize that we need to feel the beauty of our life. Their life is more exciting than mine.

"Im Jin Joo, Lee Eun Jung, and Hwang Han Joo are best friends who are 30-years-old. This is the story of the life of three friends and the people around them."

Oh... It's a powerful gesture from three strong women, right? But looking at the plot, it looks like a simple drama showing the life of three women in their 30s. And that title? BE MELODRAMATIC? Seriously, it's not that catchy and cannot hold the curiosity of the viewers.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, sorry to say but it's not the royal rumble action packed drama. It's just a simple story of showing how grownups act and react. But do not be discouraged because every episode and scene was magnificently crafted so that everyone can relate, even the young ones. 

It was so beautiful that it is in my top 5 favorite dramas of all time.

I describe it as an EASY WATCH. I watch it without any expectation and worries on what surprised twist will come up. It's a wonderful journey of reflecting on your life and accepting that life is not perfect and enjoying your life right now. 

"The drama focuses on a loser team that prepares for an extraordinary season upon the arrival of their new general manager and will focus on a problem they have as they prepare to become a stronger team. "

Being a fan of Nam Goong Min, I was already sold on this drama. Plus, with our bubbly Park Eun Bin, how can you resist watching this!  But oh! Look at that plot. It's basically about the management of the baseball team in preparation for the next season. No romance involved and not much baseball tournament action for sports fans.

But release that courage of yours and let yourself dive into this: mind blowing tricks,  strong team bonding and anti social humor from Nam Goong Min. Definitely not your usual drama but like other dramas, it is exciting, hilarious and just a pure genius of writing.
