Chun Woo Hee and Kim Dong Wook's "Delightfully Deceitful" Starts Strong with 4.6% Viewership

The first episode of the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama aired on the 29th recorded average viewership ratings of 5.0% (6.1% peak) based on households in the Seoul metropolitan area and 4.6% (5.4% peak) nationwide.

Among the target audience of men and women aged 20-49, the ratings for Delightfully Deceitful were 2.1% (3.0% peak) on average in the Seoul metropolitan area and 2.0% (2.7% peak) nationwide, based on cable, IPTV, and satellite platforms (according to Nielsen Korea).

The episode depicted the encounter between Lee Ro Um (played by Chun Woo Hee), a former 'memory genius,' and Han Moo Young (played by Kim Dong Wook), a lawyer suffering from the hyper-empathy syndrome. After serving more than ten years in prison as a wrongful conviction for a persistent murderer named Ye Choong Shik (played by Park Wan Kyu), Ro Um is declared innocent due to the appearance of the true culprit. Han Moo Young, who is Ye Choong Shik's defense lawyer and had publicly released a recorded confession admitting to the charges, becomes Ro Um's attorney for the national compensation lawsuit, marking the beginning of their connection.

When they met as clients and attorneys, Han Moo Young sympathized with Ro Um's sorrow. However, when he left briefly to get tissues for her, he was taken aback by Ro Um's sudden change of demeanor as she wiped away her tears and teased him playfully. This made Han Moo Young doubt that everything he sees is not what it seems. As Han Moo Young encounters people around her, he discovers they all harbor hostility and fear toward Ro Um.

The first episode of Delightfully Deceitful successfully met expectations with its mix of black comedy, thriller, humanism, and melodrama. The actors skillfully portrayed their distinct characters, adding flavor to the series with refined directing techniques. In particular, Chun Woo Hee's (as Lee Ro Um) performance in the casino scene and Kim Dong Wook's portrayal of Han Moo Young created an atmosphere of anticipation with their stylish presence.

The tvN drama Delightfully Deceitful will continue with its second episode on Tuesday at 8:50 PM.

My Perfect Stranger, also starring Kim Dong Wook, achieved steady ratings. After getting its highest viewership of 4.7%, the drama slightly dropped to a rating of 4.6% for its 9th episode. So far, most of the episodes of the K-drama have received a 4-point rating. Hopefully, the upcoming episodes will bring increasing viewership to the time-travel drama.
