EXO's Park Chan Yeol is returning to acting this year!
On February 7, media outlets reported that Park Chan Yeol will be joining the cast of the upcoming Netflix K-drama The Frog.
Park Chan Yeol's agency SM Entertainment then shared their response. According to the agency, "It is true that Park Chan Yeol will be starring in the upcoming Netflix K-drama The Frog."
This will be the grand comeback of Park Chan Yeol to K-dramas. He last starred in the 2018 K-drama Memories of the Alhambra with Hyun Bin, Park Shin Hye, Park Hoon, Lee Seung Joon, Min Jin Woong, and Kim Eui Sung.
Park Chan Yeol started his acting career in 2015 through the film Salut D'Amour. Since then, he has starred in several K-dramas and films such as The Box, EXO Next Door, Missing 9, and more.
This will also be his first-ever project from the global OTT platform, Netflix.
The Frog is a mystery thriller K-drama that revolves around two men who live in two different eras and secluded areas. One is running a motel in a rural area in the summer of the year 2000 and the other is running a pension house in the forest in the summer of the year 2021.
The upcoming K-drama will be helmed by director Mo Wan Il, the same director of the hit K-dramas The World of the Married, Misty, You Are the Best!, Healer, and more.
It will be led by Kim Yoon Seok, Yoon Kye Sang, Go Min Si, Lee Jung Eun, Ryu Hyun Kyung, and Park Ji Hwan.
Park Chan Yeol will play the mysterious character who will play a key role in the storyline.
The Frog will reportedly premiere in the second half of 2024. It will exclusively air on Netflix. The K-drama will have a total of 8 episodes.
