Former fromis_9 member Jang Gyu Ri will reportedly join the upcoming OCN k-drama "Player Season 2."
On January 27, media outlets revealed that Jang Gyu Ri has been picked as the female lead for the upcoming new season of "Player." She will reportedly work alongside Song Seung Heon, Lee Si Eon, and Tae Won Seok who will possibly return to the new season.
Jang Gyu Ri's agency responded to the circulating casting reports. According to JUST Entertainment, the idol-turned-actress did receive the offer to star in "Player Season 2" and she is positively reviewing it.
"Player Season 2" will continue the journey of the police redemption team consisting of a swindler, a fighter, an elite hacker, and a talented driver.
According to reports, Jang Gyu Ri will portray the role of Jane, the best driver of the team.
"Player Season 2" will premiere on OCN and it will reportedly begin filming this coming March. There is no official confirmation yet on the release date of the upcoming new season.
Meanwhile, the first season can still be viewed through OCN and OTT platforms iQIYI, Viki, and WeTV.
If Jang Gyu Ri confirms her casting, this will be her first project for 2023. She was last seen in the 2022 k-drama "Cheer Up" led by Han Ji Hyun, Bae In Hyuk, and Kim Hyun Jin.
Jang Gyu Ri made her debut as a member of fromis_9 in 2017. She started her career acting in the same year and starred in several k-dramas such as "Ms. Perfect," "We See Winter," "Dating Class," and "It's Okay to Not Be Okay."
Last year, Jang Gyu Ri decided to leave her former agency and her group fromis_9 after her exclusive contract expired. In August 2022, she signed under JUST Entertainment and decided to be more active as an actress.
