Actor Jo Jin Woong will reportedly be the main lead in the upcoming K-drama No Way Out.
On October 30, media outlet JTBC Entertainment released an exclusive report stating that Jo Jin Woong will be replacing Lee Sun Kyun as the main lead of No Way Out.
It was also revealed in the report that Jo Jin Wook has received the proposal and is currently reviewing the script.
No Way Out will revolve around a murder contract with a reward of 20 billion won (approximately $15 million) for the life of an evil criminal who was released after 13 years. It will reveal the battle between those who want to kill and those who want to survive.
Lee Sun Kyun was supposed to play the role of Baek Joong Sik, a police officer who protects the citizens from a killer. However, even before the shooting of the series began, Lee Sun Kyun got involved in a drug scandal which led him to voluntarily drop out from No Way Out. The character Baek Joong Sik is now offered to Jo Jin Woong.
Jo Jin Woong will possibly work with the confirmed cast lineup of Yoo Jae Myung, Kim Mu Yeol, Lee Kwang Soo, Greg Hsu, and Yeom Jung Ah.
No Way Out will be helmed by director Choi Kook Hee who also created the films Life Is Beautiful, Default, and Tale of Cinema.
If Jo Jin Woong confirms his casting, this will be his official return to K-dramas after seven years. The actor last starred in the 2016 K-drama Entourage. This year, Jo Jin Woong made a special appearance in the series The Good Bad Mother as Ra Mi Ran's husband.
In 2023, Jo Jin Woong appeared in the film The Devil's Deal with Lee Sung Min, Kim Mu Yeol, Son Yeo Eun, Kim Yoon Sung, and Kwak Jin. He will also star in the upcoming movies The Boys, Dead Man, Believer 2, and Mongyudowondo.
