Kim Jung Eun, Kim Hae Sook, Lee Yoo Mi, Ong Seong Wu, and Byun Woo Seok will be the main leads of the upcoming drama "Strong Woman Gang Nam Soon (literal translation)".
On May 27th MBN News reported that a sequel of the drama "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" is in the works and the casting and production team have already been confirmed.
"Strong Woman Gang Nam Soon" will be directed by Kim Jung Sik ("Work Later, Drink Now") and the script will be penned by the same writer of "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon," Baek Mi Kyung.
The upcoming series will be the sequel to the 2017 drama. This time, the story will be about a strong woman named Gang Nam Soon. She is a relative of Do Bong Soon. Just like the female relatives of Do Bong Soon in 2017, Gang Nam Soon's mother and grandmother are equally strong. The drama will also showcase the reality of new drug crimes centered around Gangnam.
Kim Jung Eun will play the role of Hwang Geum Ju, a tycoon in Gangnam who's been living life with good deeds to find her lost daughter.
Lee Yoo Mi will play as Gang Nam Soon, an energetic woman who came to Gangnam to find her parents. She was an international missing child in Mongolia.
Kim Hae Sook will play the maternal grandmother of Gang Nam Soon. She is a butcher at Majangdong and she is also a member of the secret investigation team in Gangnam wherein they fight against drugs.
"Strong Woman Gang Nam Soon" will be produced by Barunson C&C Co. Ltd ("Parasite" and "The Age Of Shadows") and Story Phoenix Co., Ltd., founded by writer Baek Mi Kyung.
In 2021, writer Baek Mi Kyung already shared that she was working on the sequel of the 2017 JTBC series "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon." The drama was led by Park Bo Young, Park Hyung Sik, Kim Ji Soo, Jun Suk Ho, Shim Hye Jin, and Yoo Jae Myung. The series got high ratings and it was even popular with international k-drama fans.
The series also received several nominations and the main lead Park Bo Young won "Best Actress" and "Outstanding Korean Actress" at two different award-giving bodies.
