Hello,
Has everyone been well? Today I've come up with another article which is kind of like a part two to my previous article, Drama Recommendations: 2004 - 2013.
Even though I am a sucker for happy endings, when it comes to movies, tear-jerker seems to be my favorite tag bahaha, so the majority of this list will come with that trope, sorry not sorry!
To go to a movie's MDL page, just click on the title.
With that, shall we go ahead? |
YEAR: 2010 | GENRE: Drama, Family
| PLOT
Seo Go Eun , a wedding dress designer and a single mother, is suddenly diagnosed with gastric cancer. She takes it upon herself to prepare her young daughter to learn to adjust and live without her. | MY THOUGHTS
So when you read the plot, it's just your most ordinary tragic storyline, isn't it? Let me tell yo,u out of all the movies I've watched, this is one of the movies I've shed the most tears.
Why? Because the plot is simple and it happens in everyday life which hit close to home. The actors successfully managed to convey the right simplistic yet raw emotions. If you're looking for a good cry, this one's for you. |
YEAR: 2015 | GENRE: Friendship, Drama
| PLOT
Seung Min is forcibly locked up in a psychiatric hospital due to inheritance issues in his family while Soo Myung is hospitalized there due to schizophrenia.
Seung Min wants to escape, Soo Myung befriends him, and together they start seeing hope in leaving there.
| MY THOUGHTS
This movie was incredible and the acting was phenomenal, an amazing movie about freedom, friendship, and mental health.
Mind you, this movie highlights the violence in psychiatric wards. Also, the ending is a bit ambiguous but that shouldn't stop you from watching this amazing gem.

YEAR: 2013 | GENRE: Life, Drama, Family
| PLOT
Singer Choong Oui is sentenced to community service in a hospice after allegedly beating up a man in a nightclub. Although he was reluctant and hated it at first, he finds himself getting involved and helping the members of the hospice by writing songs for their music band and he finds himself healing as well. | MY THOUGHTS
A heartbreaking and beautiful film, anything related to hospices really gets me emotional, it really makes me think how we take tomorrow for granted, and this was no exception.
I found it so beautiful how they find meaning together in music despite the harsh realities of life. Don't think too much, just give this a try. :) |
YEAR: 2004 | GENRE: Comedy, Romance
| PLOT
Park Sang Min and Bo Yeon's grandparents both promised marriage of their grandchildren when they were young. Unable to get out of it, Bo Yeon continues to try and lead her school life. | MY THOUGHTS
Let's take a break from the tearjerkers, I watched My Little Bride a few months ago when I was bored. Glad I did because it gave me nice break from the stressful shows I was watching.
Now from the sypnosis, if you were like me, you would probably be a little turned off. First of all, keep in mind that this was filmed in 2004, and the romance is kept minimal so it doesn't come off as disturbing, don't worry. If you're looking for a light-hearted weird comedy, this is it. |
YEAR: 2014 | GENRE: Comedy, Romance, Youth
| PLOT
Aoi and Shusei (the school prince) must share the same room after Aoi mistakenly makes the sprinklers in Shusei's room go off. | MY THOUGHTS If you're looking for some romance minus the tear-jerker tag, this is it. Your average predictable cohabitation story with some real eye candy. A cute watch for a boring day.
|
YEAR: 2014 | GENRE: Dama, Family, War
| PLOT
Tells the story of Deok Soo as he's faced with multiple adversities starting with the Korean war. Upon separating from his father, he must take care of and sacrifice himself for his family as the head. | MY THOUGHTS How do I get started with this movie? It's an absolute masterpiece, shedding some light on Korean history. This movie will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. Heartwarming and captivating, I wasn't bored for a single second, right from the beginning till the end I laughed and cried with them.
I think it's right to say this will stay with me for a very long time.
