Godfrey Gao, a Taiwanese-born Canadian model and actor, passed away on November 27, 2019 at about 1:45 am while filming Chase Me, a sports reality show.
The official statement said "in the early hours of Nov. 27, our beloved Godfrey collapsed while filming on set. Following three hours of rescue efforts, he unfortunately left us. We are very shocked and saddened and even until now find it impossible to accept." He was taken to a hospital but died of a heart attack.
Godfrey moved to Canada as a child but returned in 2004 to work as a model and actor. He was the first Asian model to work for the fashion brand Louis Vuitton.
He was famous for his roles as Magnus Bane in the 2013 film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and for his main role as Alex in Remembering Lichuan.
