Hi, guys! Another year has passed so here's the list of the highest-grossing Asian films of 2019 (according to official sources). If you haven't watched them yet, make sure to at least check them out!

CHINA
The Wandering Earth - In a near future, when the sun begins to die, humanity comes together to build thousands of Earth Engines to propel planet Earth from our solar system. ($668.72 million)
My People, My Country - An anthology film consisting of 7 short stories directed by several different directors, which are based on 7 moments since the founding of the People's Republic of China. ($445.43 million)
The Captain - Based on the Sichuan Airlines Flight 8633 incident, when the windshield of his commercial airplane shatters at 30,000 feet in the air, a pilot and his flight crew work to ensure the safety of the passengers and land the plane. ($414.27 million)
THAILAND
Tootsies and The Fake - The three famously funny tootsies, Gus, Golf, Kim, and their resident femme Natty are on a mission improbable to “fake it until they make it”. ($4.2 million)
Friend Zone - For 10 years, Palm has been stuck in the friend zone with his best friend, Gink. He has had feelings for her since high school and even tried confessing to her then, but she rejected him, saying that being friends was enough. Over the years, they grow closer to each other. ($4 million)
Pee Nak - Three men on their way to monk-hood, don't realize the temple at which they will receive their ordination is cursed by the wrath of Pee Nak, a mythical giant snake. ($1.6 million)
HONG KONG
The White Storm 2: Drug Lords - There is an iron rule in the Ching Hing Gang: no drug dealing. The gang leader, Yu Nam, has two right-hand men: one is Tin, a bright and sober adherent of principles and loyalty; the other is Ji Zo, a cold-blooded smart man who secretly runs a drug business without Nam's knowledge. ($202.54 million)
Ip Man 4 - The Wing Chun Kung Fu master Ip Man travels to the U.S. where his student Bruce Lee has upset the local Chinese martial arts community by opening a school teaching foreigners Chinese Kung Fu. ($193.1 million)
P Storm - William Luk goes undercover as a prisoner to investigate correctional officers who are receiving bribes. ($117.99 million)
JAPAN
Kingdom - Set during the warring period in ancient China. Shin is a war orphan who dreams of becoming the greatest general under the Heavens. ($52.7 million)
Masquerade Hotel - An investigation begins regarding the serial killer, and Detective Nitta Kosuke works on the case. He believes the next murder will take place at Hotel Koruteshia Tokyo. To catch the killer, Kosuke goes undercover and begins working at the front desk of the hotel. ($42.7 million)
Tonde Saitama - The story is set in a fictional Japan where people are discriminated according to their birthplace and residence. Saitama Prefecture is particularly criticized by the people in Tokyo. One day, a mysterious male student named Rei Asami transfers to Hakuhoudou Academy, a prestigious high school in Tokyo, from America. ($34.6 million)
TAIWAN
Detention - Set in 1962, during the White Terror period of Taiwan, Fang Ray Shin and her teacher Mr. Chang fell in love with each other. The protagonists slowly unveil the mysteries of the dark history of their school. Can they survive? ($33.5 million)
Fall in Love at First Kiss - A love story between an ordinary girl with a stubborn crush and the school genius adored by all that begins when they end up living in the same house. ($24 million)
A Sun - A-ho is a boy from an ordinary family. One day, a terrible misfortune befalls A-ho’s family, and A-ho, who learns about his girlfriend’s pregnancy, gets into serious trouble because of his friends and ends up in a juvenile detention center. ($18 million)
SOUTH KOREA
Parasite - Follows the members of a poor family who scheme to become employed by a wealthy family by infiltrating their household and posing as unrelated, highly qualified individuals. It became the first South Korean film to receive an Academy Award recognition, as well as the first film not in English to win Best Picture. ($266 million)
Extreme Job - A drug squad consists of 5 detectives: Detective Squad Chief Go, Detective Jang, Detective Ma, Detective Young Ho, and Detective Jae Hoon. The team attempts to take down a criminal organization, and they must go undercover to do so. ($120 million)
Exit - Yong Nam was one of the best rock climbers in college but hasn’t had much luck elsewhere after graduation. For his mother’s 70th birthday, he insisted on having the party at Dream Garden because his old crush, Eui Ju works there. When a disaster strikes, covering an entire district in Seoul with mysterious white gas, he has to use all of his rock climbing skills with the help of Eui Ju to get everyone to safety. ($79.9 million)
THE PHILIPPINES
Hello, Love, Goodbye - centers on the love story of Joy and Ethan, Filipino workers based in Hong Kong. Ethan, a bartender, is keen on romantically pursuing Joy, a domestic helper who is wholly dedicated to providing for her family. ($17.3 million)
Miracle in Cell No. 7 - revolves around Lito, a mentally challenged man who was wrongfully accused of killing the daughter of Secretary Yulo as well as his attempt to maintain relations with his own daughter Yesha through the help of his fellow inmates. ($10 million)
Alone/Together - follows the love story of Christine and Raf, who cross paths again eight years after they first met during their college years. ($7.3 million)
