tvN confirmed the main leads of the upcoming K-drama Sparkling Watermelon.
On April 5, tvN announced that Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook, Seol In Ah, and Shin Eun Soo will be the main leads of the upcoming fantasy youth K-drama Sparkling Watermelon.
Sparkling Watermelon will be the next work of director Son Jung Hyun (Mental Coach Jegal and When My Love Blooms) and writer Jin Soo Wan (Chicago Typewriter and Kill Me, Heal Me).
The upcoming K-drama will tell the story of a boy who lives a double life. He is a model student but he is also a band member who will time travel and meet his 18-year-old father at a mysterious music shop. There, he will form a band called Watermelon Sugar.
Sparkling Watermelon will premiere in the second half of 2023. It will exclusively air on tvN.
Ryeoun will bring life to the role of Eun Gyeol. He is a child of deaf parents and he is the only one who can hear from his family. He lives a double life as a perfect model student in the morning and a guitarist in the band at night.
Choi Hyun Wook will portray the role of Lee Chan, a normal high school student who has the sensibility of Generation X. He grew up with college students because he lives in his grandmother's boarding house. Lee Chan always goes to the nearby arts high school to pursue the goddess student there.
Seol In Ah will play the character named Se Kyung. She is known as the Cello Goddess of Seowon Arts High School because of her beauty, elegance, and one-of-a-kind aura.
Lastly, Shin Eun Soo was cast in the role of Chung Ah, a cold and haughty deaf person. Chung Ah's life goal is to live like Frida Kahlo.
